we have $500 in shipboard credits. what is the best way to use them? I know excursions aren't always a wise choice thru the cruise lines but not sure we're interested in the specialty restaurants. We're cruising on the Edge.  I know we can use them towards the Spa as well. We already have a free prem. bev. pkg and gratuities and internet also free with our package. Any ideas?

Start with upgrading from classic to premium drink package if that's your interest.

Go to the specialties!   We always consider it part of the whole cruise experience.  A wine paired special dinner is wonderful.

I got a Michael Kors bag two cruises ago when we realized the last night that we had $350 in non refundable credit left.  I wouldn't have normally gotten it but honestly it's my go-to bag when I want a black bag.

I have never seen "Extra cost entrees and other items in Main Dining Room and specialty restaurants"  Going on our 18th cruise with Celebrity next week.  Is this something new in the past few months?

There was something for an extra cost on the Tuscan Grille menu in December, but I don't remember what it was.

We upgraded from Premium to the Drinks and More package for the casino credit and minibar access.

I agree that at regular price excursions aren't generally the way to go, but X often has sales.  We booked some excursions when they were on sale--things like a $20-25 island tour, or the "Behind the Scenes" ship's tour when it was $50 PP.

If we don't see anything we like in the shops, we'll book a specialty restaurant.

There have extra charge room service items for a number of years, example steak & eggs.  The specialities also have up-charge items, we haven’t been in the MDR so not sure about up-charge items.

If you gamble you can prebuy chips or slot machine play, nice deal use 50 dollars and get 55 in chips , bought a few hundred last year and for our cruise next week.

Can we cash out when ever then too and get some of the OBC back in cash?

You need to play chips, when or if you win you then get chips you can cash out. Can always bet both red and black on roulette and a couple of chips on green and then you know you will get money back

Unfortunately they are onto this game, and will no longer allow one gambler to place promotional chips on both red and black on a single spin. We had quite a bit of non-refundable OBC on our last cruise and were able to turn most of it into cash by playing roulette, but it was sheer luck because of this rule.

Could get my wife to bet red and I could bet black, I like to gamble so this does not effect me. Hopefully the casino will be kind to me in 11 days on the infinity, also have a 25 dollar chip I forgot to cash in last year.

We didn't try this, but the dealer at our table was asking for everyone's room number when they sat to play, so I'm guessing they would realize you are together and not allow it. Do report back though - I'd love to know if it works out!
