Buy internet before cruise departs- a good idea or not?

I am new to Celebrity.

is it worth buying a value-priced internet  package before we depart ?. Or do they have offers just as good or better as soon as you board?

I have been quoted about $100 for a 15-night cruise.  Is this worth taking?

Is the quality of the internet similar to ,say, Princess ships?

I also want to know where you saw $100.  We have a 15 night  cruise booked and the Unlimited package for 1 device is $308 and Surf 1 device is $179.  These prices are before our 35% Captains Club Elite + discount.

I have to say that being a first time cruiser on Celebrity, I find the prices for internet usage disgusting. I could buy a new computer for the price in Canadian Dollars that they are asking for a 11 day cruise.  Unless I'm missing something there is no justification for this at all.

Totally agree!  They are really ridiculous!  Princess only charges $59 for a week.  Celebrity's pricing is out of this world!

If you have been quoted $100 for 11 nights I would absolutely take it.  It is highly unlikely you will see a better price.  As others have said the price is normally 2 or 3 times that.

We usually have the unlimited which comes as a complimentary service with the upper suites.  But others have commented that the surf only package is very limited so do take  a look at what you want to do with it.  Also if you have a port heavy cruise you might be able to do just fine using the WiFi on land.  Most port guides contain info on where you can hook into free WiFi - or just follow the crew!
