This is a fluid situation.  CDC notes that older adults and travelers with underlying health issues should avoid situations that put them at increased risk for more severe disease.  This entails avoiding crowded places, avoiding non-essential travel such as long plane trips, and especially avoiding embarking on cruise ships.  Passengers with plans to travel by cruise ship should contact their cruise line companies directly for further information and continue to monitor the Travel.state.gov website and see the latest information from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/index.html. I think cruise ships are being targeted not because a person is more likely to spread it on a cruise ship, but because if someone tests positive then the government has to deal with the logistics if the cruise ship's main port is in the US.

Anyone traveling on public transportation or going to places like Disney World is just as much at risk of catching the virus.  The difference is that when going to these places, it's much harder to pinpoint the place of exposure.  I think people who are fearful of this virus might do well to rethink all public places.  But then again, I also think it's unavoidable.  Obviously, the government isn't going to shut down all of the airports, amusement parks, and public places.  The virus will run its course.  Next year there will be a vaccine.

According to one of the latest videos on John Heald's FB page there is no difference cruising now than it was 3 weeks ago --- except people are washing their hands more and using more hand sanitizer.

 

As long as you're on a Carnival cruise you are safe, just ask John. He says that Carnival & Christine Duffy will keep everyone safe. Too bad Carnival hasn't shared their ability to safeguard against COVID-19 with their sister line, Princess.

We are heading out on the Breeze on Saturday and as of now we are going. If I was elderly or had health issues I would not go but since we are healthy and in our 30’s I am no more worried about Coronavirus than I am with catching the Flu! I just curious if Carnival will cancel our cruise after the most recent state department warning.

I was just saying over on the Royal page , how can you bash cruises and not bash Vegas , Atlantic City or basically every casino in every state , Oh wait they bring in millions of dollars they are not going to shut those down . I was in church today with over 200 people in small place and imagine this some people shook my hand oh the horror and I went to a Shoneys and ate at a Buffet afterwards . But I did wash my hands before I ate 🙂

You know cruise ships aren't the most sanitary places on earth.

 

I have seen it all. Sneezing at the buffet, wiping of noses and then touching utensils, booger picking then picking up silverware. Coming out of the bathroom, not washing hands and going straight to the plates. I could go on.

 

I wonder how this is affecting carnivals stock and sales? I dont see any message about it on their homepage which is suprising

But the government says please fly. And fly internationally. 🤦🏼‍♀️  Flying is how it got here in the first place. Until they ban air travel they shouldn’t ban cruise ships. Planes are super gross. They don’t even sanitize them worth a crap between flights. Let’s put 100+ people on a metal tube with recycled air but cruise ships are the problem...

The reason to target cruise ships vs somewhere like Disneyland is due to the age and potential health of the travelers. 

It's much more likely to have an 80 year old with health conditions relaxing on a cruise than running after kids for miles at Disney.

channel 6 just announced that on Tuesday there will be a new policy in place regarding the corona virus.  Anyone with a medical condition or older people are being advised not to travel by cruise.  Wow, this will be interesting to see how this all plays out.  Such a shamne

  I was just at Disneyland last week. As I’m a local with an Annual Pass. No, the older generation don’t run & chase the grand kids , they have motorized scooters! 😁😁
