Hey Everyone,

I am going on the vista this saturday, and I am wondering if I can watch soccer anywhere on the ship specifically games on sbcsn? My favorite team is playing sunday morning and I would love to be able to watch. I figure the rooms won't have that channel, but what about the sports bar?

September, eh?........did they have any NFL or NCAA football on?

Actually I got on in August and off in September. It was the first week of college football. Regular season NFL hadn't started yet. They had the ESPN channels on in the sports bar...but the sports bar didn't open until a couple hours after the games started..so there was no bartender for awhile but the sports bar was packed. You can read about that day here:  https://saintgregtravel.com/glory-days-3rd-sea-day/

Then in December I boarded Magic on a NFL Sunday. They had a couple games on in the casino and then a different game on in the Red Frog Pub. Casino bartenders were stubborn saying "this is all we have" when clearly there was a different game on in the pub. 49ers fans were very upset. You can read about that day here:  https://saintgregtravel.com/christmas-magic-embarkation-day/

SNF, MNF, TNF were on in both locations.

Thanks a lot for the updates.   I was on the Oasis of the Seas the week you were on the Magic.   What a difference in the amount of TV coverage with Playmakers on the Oasis.  EVERY NFL game was on as well as most of the most of the NCAA conference championships. As well as NBA and college basketball.

Sports bars on Carnival used to have a lot more coverage.   Looking at your pics of the Sky Box bar on the Vista, it seems extremely small in comparison to Conquest and Spirit class sports bars.   Also,  in your pics, the pics show the bar was SRO for a game featuring Miss. St/Louisiana.   Seems they just wanted to watch anything football related.

I think they had the ability to show more games but the bartenders didn't even attempt to change the channels. I believe they had three of the noon games on in the casino bar then one other one in the red frog pub. They had four of the noon games on which leads me to believe they had the ability to show all of the noon games. As for championship games they had all of the ones that were on ESPN channels.

The sports bar pictures you are looking at are from Glory, a conquest class ship, not Vista. That was the first week of college football season on a ship sailing out of Louisiana containing a lot of people from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Louisiana-Lafayette (they like to call themselves Louisiana) and Mississippi State were on then I believe Alabama was on after them.

This is the Vista sports bar. I spent no time in there since it was the last week of February.

The only sports bars on Carnival ships that come close (which isn’t very close) to Playmakers are on Spirit class ships. Royal  appears to be trying to appeal to sports fans with Playmakers, while Carnival is going in the opposite direction when it comes to sports bars.

Looking for sports games on board is such a crap shoot. A lot of my cruises have been during football season and I feel so bad for the bartenders because so many customers get upset that their team isn't on the TV (has zero to do with the bartender). I remember there only being CBS and Fox sports on the vista the last times I was on it. That could be because it was the NFL channels but def never saw NBC.

I agree with that. I dunno why but it seems like they have been going away from focusing on the sports bars. Im going on the Magic soon and im almost positive they don't even have one. Maybe its too much of a headache to operate?

Magic has TVs with sports on in the Red Frog Pub and the Casino. The Dream class didn’t have sports bars but they brought them back with Vista.

I thought so. Someone said they have a tiny sports bar up on the sports deck but I didn't see it on the deck plans. Not a huge loss, ill just spend more time in the red frog.
