Lelepa year round???

Hi Folks

With all the issues in Asia at the moment it would seem to be the right time for RCI to bite the bullet so to speak and commit to sailings year round from Australia.

This would enable their new private Island to shine and would give Australians a better choice of ships in our winter time , which is actually the best time of the year to cruise to the Islands avoiding the cyclone season and tropical weather

How about it folks ????

From the Lelepa mention in a video on Ovation last week it sounds like it's still well over a year away from becoming a destination.  However once it is ready it wouldn't make sense to use for half of the year so maybe they are moving towards a year round presence down under.

That might be the start but weather and geography would suggest Brisbane would be the long term alternative.

I can’t see Brisbane being a success as a cruise port.

I’m going to get a ear bashing but Brisbane has got very little going for it.

You could have said the same thing about Port Everglades 40 years ago. The year round would be a Radiance class ship to start.

When Sydney gets its act together with a new terminal at port botany no one will want to go to Brisbane.

Brisbane port is very unimpressive,it’s 45 minutes into town through a industrial area.

When or if?

If Royal has to wait for Sydney to get its act together is 2022 realistic?  It would have to be already approved and well in motion to meet that goal.

Isn't the Brisbane cruise terminal relatively close to the airport?    Not being downtown is quite common for cruise ports.

Sydney is still in the planning stage but I believe they are looking at using part of the container terminal as a temporary cruise port.

Brisbane is building a new terminal and it is very close to the airport.
