Diamond free drinks

as others have said, it's limited. only very basic mixed drinks included and not top-shelf brands.  but we skipped those. know what we did? We loaded up on the mixed drinks we wanted in the lounge, then before the Diamond 3-drink bennies ended at 7 pm, we went up to the schooner bar, took 3 beers each unopened (Stella or Heineken), tipped the bar tender in cash, and brought them to our room. we drank some of them during the daytime, but ended up bringing  2 six packs home with us.  worked real well.  the bartender by day 3 recognized us and already knew what we wanted

Yes, cash tipping works miracles!

Ouch, that's going to leave a mark! 😁

Even my wife wanted to leave CATS early last week, and she loves that show as much as John does. 😆

Interesting as Stella is not on the list.

So you “loaded up” (as you put it) in the lounge then used your three evening drinks to satisfy your drinking needs during the day. And then you brought home two 6 packs of beer.  At some point it seemed that you must have known that you had more beer than you could drink- yet you still took more. Something tells me that the program is not designed to send passengers with a few 6 packs.

And we wonder why Royal Caribbean will at some point make changes to the program. Some are speculating that the lounge drinks might count as part of the 3 count.

And on top of it they post their escapades on a message board for all to read.... including RCI.

The bartenders aren't allowed to give out unopened beer anymore because of people loading up on them or sharing them with others.  This reads like a story by someone just trying to stir the pot.  Plus, you are right about Stella not being on the list, no way are they getting Stella with a diamond coupon.  My DH couldn't even get a Bud light with the diamond coupons when Bud light wasn't on the list.

It has been reported elsewhere, but it's new on the Grandeur, AFAIK.  Here it is in black & white.  (with red for emphasis)

Lounge rule - opened bottles don't take out of lounge.png

Harmony SL is still allowing unopened cans. Might be because of the extended hours for drinks up there

Thx. Good to know. We like to keep a can of ginger ale (and green apples and crackers) in the cabin. Has come in handy.

Our happy hour on Rhapsody is 4:30 until  8:00 o’clock each evening. Our letter does indicate that evening cocktails must be consumed inside the lounge. And they have posted this sign all over the place

Harmony had that as well. But not enforcing it.

Carol's note from Grandeur is one of the first times I've seen a written announcement about unopened cans/bottles. Seems to me it was an unwritten rule the past few years.

Correct. Also we tend to use our 3 free drinks for small bottles of Pellegrinos. Some shops won’t allow it, but most do allow.

Now that's an idea. Get drinks in the diamond lounge and instead of getting bottled water from the lounge I'll just do this.

On our b2b on Rhapsody last month, Kumar did not enforce it ... Because it was almost impossible to do so with the number of people and exits from the "expanded" diamond lounge.

Currently on Jewel, they also have the same signs. We have carried a glass of wine out most nights through the Vortex which is the overflow and unmanned. DH has gotten a beer from the pool bar a couple of times and it has been opened, we didn't try to get it any different.

DH has been ordering a beer with a brandy chaser in the lounge without a problem but last night one of the waiters told him only one drink per order. Our regular waiter saw him without the brandy and came over with one for him but don't know if this is a new rule they are starting to enforce. They do seem much less free with the pours in the lounge than they used to be.

The voucher drinks obviously don't apply.

FWIW, if the goal is to reduce crowding in the loyalty lounges, I really don't see what this accomplishes.

No, it allows people who don't wish to go to the lounge to still get benefits.  Nowhere on their website does it say the goal is to reduce attendance in the DL.  Not that they could police this anyway.   are they going to mark your hand with a sharpie to show you already had 3 drinks in the lounge?  LOL.  you can get 20 drinks in the lounge if you wish.  it's a benefit (and one of the few) of being Diamond and above.

it's just a benefit.  clearly it says you can do both on their website. read it.  🙂

Although we have been diamond a little while, we have never used 3 free ones on card as well as going to diamond lounge. But it seems that it is possible, could we get 3 bottles of water to take back to the room???? Or a bottle with top left on to drink later?

We always take a couple bottles of water back to our cabin in the evening, unopened.

Yes, we do that often with water.
