ships will be undergoing additional cleaning. Princess sent out a proposal to seek company's to clean and disinfect the whole ship. wont be surprised to see other cruise lines doing the same thing

Most TA's leaving from the states are not until April, not March, those ships are making their way to Florida or NY from The Caribbean and South America. Tad early to sound the alarm bell!  Anyone on any of these TA's are well past final payment so not sure what options are open to them. I guess cruise lines could avoid Italy but some of the TA's end in Rome for the spring and summer cruises in the Med

I am on a TA leaving April 18 and ending in Rome.  As stated above, we are well past final payment.  Still confident that this will be under control by then.  If not, we'll just have to go with the flow.

I'm sure powers that be are deciding this now...my guess is that Barcelona will become a lot busier and itineraries in general will exclude Italy.  Celebrity website is already listing their travel restrictions to include parts of N. Italy.  If it doesn't get contained there, Italian ports will be suspended and more ships will be in the Caribbean.  Just my guess...

should be interesting, as we are doing a med cruise out of Rome in June.  Hoping things will quiet down, but we'll be going with the flow as well.  Just hoping it doesn't all get canceled, as flights have already been booked!

I'm booked on a r/t sailing on Jewel out of Dubai next week and I just received an email that RCL will perform mandatory specialized health screenings on anyone who has traveled from, to, or through Italy (all regions other than Lombardy and Veneto) in the past 15 days.

I am on the cruise with you. Maybe Greece? I can’t think of where else they could go

I am concerned.  We have a huge vacation planned for October/November.  Part of it is a cruise, all Italian ports.  Still concerned.  Hope the hurry along the shots!

What is in effect at the moment is "against" anyone who has had anything to do with China, including Hong Kong and Macau, in the last 14 days.   Will that be applied in the same way to Italy: NO Italians and no-one that has been to, passed through or was in transit through Italy?

Who'd be an employee of a cruise line at the moment?

Is it true testing for flu ...any flu is expensive in USA ..???

.some insurance companies refusing to pay bills unless a lenghthy summary of past healthproblems submitted ....I read testing can cost close to 3000$ ...and people hesitate  to get tested not being sure of covering the cost ....also many people do not have insurance in anycase ...what then ???

self help or diagnosis in such cases can be very detrimental and this thing if here couldspread very quickly Esp if never diagnosed officially ...exhorbitant costs will deter people seeking help

will the gov.t step in to help cover this cost ??with this thing second guessing should not be an option ....The population needshelp to curb a spread ...

The shortest time it ever took to produce vaccines for a new strain of coronavirus/flu illnesses was three years.  The article I read last night that included an interview with an official from the CDC was they were hoping to have something for this one in half that time (18 months).  I really do not think it is possible to get something before late 2021.

Avoiding all of Italy will cause problems for a lot of lines.

If MSC and Costa have to relocate berth  in the main med ports will be in very short supply.

Israel Greece and Turkey would be interested in taking ships,

Spirit got in there early after cancellation of the Asia.

The alternative routes are back out into the Atlantic Cadiz and Lisbon good ports.

We're holding off on planning any new cruises due to the risk of trip interruption.

Our April TA ends in Rome - we are monitoring the situation & hoping that it does not get worse.

I think more people are worried about that and the loss of air fare than the virus, especially as many of the trip cancellations are very last minute, some posted they didn't find out their cruise was canceled until after they departed for Asia.

The situation will be very different by April.

Too soon to determine changes now.

Since Italy started reporting cases, other European are seeing cases too that are linked to Italy, including Croatia. Catalonia just announced its first case too. It could be that it'll become more widespread in Europe over the next couple months. Or maybe it'll all blow over. So the question will not just be what do the cruise lines do about Italy. What will they do about their entire European season?

I'm past final payment and watching closley.  A couple weeks ago Singapore.... was fine.  The Spirit was re deployed to Europe/Italy as a result of Coronavirus in Asia.  Now Italy has localized transmission.  And then there's the issue of who on earth will want to host thousands of cruise ship passengers if this virus goes pandemic.  The Westerdam had to float around with no country willing to even let them disembark.  Cambodia finally let passengers disembark after USA president intervention.  Ships can take every precaution but from what happened on the Diamond Princess, and just how viruses in general can spread like wildfire on a ship,  what precautions to take to avoid a situation like on the Diamond Princess?  One 80 year old man who had already disembarked the ship.  A subsequent quarentine, confinment to cabins, infection control specialists and doctors and experts brought onboard and right now they are at over 700 out of 3k tested.  Diamond Princess transmission rates are simply staggering.

The loss of airfare and cruise fare will be sad if it comes to that but quarentined on a ship like what happened on the Diamond Princess sounds so much worse.  We are in a Haven suite.  We will get back our port fees, DSC, Prepaid tips on packages and Shore excursions but the cruise and airfare is 100% lost.  We wont cancel till the day we board the ship.  There is zero benefit to cancel today.  There is a chance to contain the virus so I wont make a decision till just prior to getting on a flight.

Apparently COVAC 19 does not thrive well in hotter climates. Thus no reported cases in South American Africa and Australia (I think one was unconfirmed). But I still am stressing about the Escape TA in 7 weeks.

After debarking we have 4 days in Rome.

I took an insurance policy with Alliance not with NCL. Would this be cancel for any reason?

As for airfare if there are restrictions on folks entering USA from Italy wouldn’t flights be reimbursed?

I mean, Cancel for Any Reason is really for any reason you want. But most plans only give you 75% back. Some do 90% but cost a lot more. But that would be the only way for insurance to cover it unless you actually get the virus. What your insurance covers if things are canceled before you leave on your trip varies.

Well, there are Cadiz,Malaga,Valencia,Barcelona,Palma, Mahon(Menorca) and the canary islands on the way...so there would be a lot of options. And maybe two days in Barcelona would also be an option.
