First Casino at Sea offer

I cycled a fair amount of money through the tables on our last cruise, first with NCL.  Overall, I was down for the trip, but nothing extreme.  I just received an offer today for a free 7 night cruise.  I haven't contacted NCL yet, but it looks legitimate.  A couple of questions:

1)  Is this typical?

2)  What should I expect, aside from a "typical" cruise?  I understand that we'll be responsible for taxes and port fees, etc.

TIA

Booking through CAS, there will be an Admin Fee of $20 per person per night.  That's $140 each plus those port fees.  If you have CruiseNext certificates you can use those towards these fees.  (Currently they are allowing 2 certificates towards any cruise.)   You will also be eligible for whatever promos NCL is currently running for the cabin type you are offered.    Also, when you board the ship CAS will have an envelope in your cabin giving you players cards with a 'Free Drinks in casino while playing' card attached.

Do a little research and decide which ship & date you are interested in and then give them a call.  You can do a mock booking at NCL website and see what the port fees are for that cruise plus see some cabins that are available.   (I like to pick out my own cabin.)    Most of agents that answer those phones are extremely friendly and are happy to answer your questions.   You aren't obligated to book a cruise just because you called.

How many points did you make on that cruise?  If you earn over 5000 points between April 1st and March 31st you can achieve Tier status that will give you some guaranteed comps on your next cruises.

You can call CAS at any time to find out what they'll offer you on a particular sailing.  You can ask about longer or shorter cruises if you find some that interest you, not just a 7 nighter.

I haven't gotten offers sent to me, but instead call them when I'm ready to book/shop for a trip.

A note about the Casino Drink Card that Sand and Seas mentioned, the basic one is for house/well drinks, typically one alcohol drinks and beer/wine etc, but doesn't include specialty drinks.  It does include bottled water and energy drinks.

There is a Premium Casino Drink Card which includes more choices, which could be given based on your play.

It was an email.  The fine print said it could be used for Mexico, New England, Bermuda, Bahamas and the Caribbean.  I thought it was possible that it was sent because they could be having trouble filling ships because of the current health scare.  The email also said book by April 3, sail by October 30.  Any experience on passing on the offer and how long it might be before seeing another one?  8-10 years ago I was getting more offers from Las Vegas than I could possibly use and ignoring offers didn't seem to slow them down.  We don't consider ourselves prone to panic, but free or not, I don't think we'll be booking a cruise until the current situation seems more under control.

I didn't check my points before leaving.  We weren't planning on going on another cruise for at least a year, so points and offers weren't really on my radar.  The email was a big surprise almost six months after the cruise.

It sounds like the same offers I have seen them send my son on a postcard.    It usually is for a cruise to be taken in the next 6 months.    I think he gets one of those offers each year so it's possible you will get a future offer from them.  At any rate, it never hurts to give them a call and say you have had such an offer in the past and see if they can do something for you.

As we often say when talking about CAS....."It never hurts to call and ask...."

  • 4 months later...

The CAS team may also offer a discount for cruises that aren't in the current promotion.

We couldn't use the 'free 4-10 day interior' offer on a longer cruise, so instead he offered us 25% off the fare.

You can also pay the difference to upgrade to better cabin, or participate in the NCL 'auction' once you have a booking confirmed.

Lots of ways to leverage those promotions, especially when NCL is running a good package.

I find sometimes I don't get a lot of email or mail offers but as others have said. Call them and you may get a variety of options. I have been comped up to 20 nights cruises and mailers are usually for way less.

Exactly this!

I've found the CAS agents are very friendly.   Never hurts to call and ask if there is anything you qualify for☺️
