Fire up the way back machine and let's visit Friday morning AKA departure day

We had let Jay know that we didn't want to get off first thing because we were going to hotel, and it likely couldn't accept us, so we'd like to get off at 9:00

He told us he still wasn't sure what the departure procedure was going to be anyway. And this was before Spain announced the port closures. He said he would let us know Thursday night if we had to have bags outside at 11pm, or at 7am. Turns out it was 7am, no big deal. He also told us that he was leaving ship at 8:30am, so he couldn't escort us off anyway. He asked Sophia, the International Ambassador to handle it. Bummer.

I was up at 6:30, put the bags out and we went to CK for breakfast around 8am. Had to get our morning coffee up there since Starbucks didn't deliver on the last day. I kind of thought that was the case, but wasn't sure.  I wasn't even sure they were open, but the latte and cappuccino up there was fine. Breakfast was nice, surprised we didn't go more often, room service was a bust this trip.

Back in the cabin for our 9am departure. Met Sophia right on time, and we bypassed a few people to get scanned out. After that having an escort was of no value.

Ran into a roadblock almost immediately. And Sophia didn't have the skills to get us through, so we waited

Now at one point the HD Director walked by, kind of surprised he didn't offer and Sophia didn't ask him to run interference for us. He definitely pushed his way through along with a few other officers. Not the end of the world.

Finally made it to the luggage hall. FWIW, customs is before you grab your bags. There were two lines, one for EU and one for all of us. EU was pretty much empty. All agents worked on both lines, but EU got priority with the 2 agents on the left.

So we waited. Not sure a Genie would have helped, but who knows.

By the time we got our bags, roughly an hour after leaving our cabin,  the luggage hall was practically empty, but there were still several STAR bags. No idea who those belonged to.  Part of this was my fault for wanting to leave late, part Royal for not providing us with a Genie escort, and part because of new port and Corona confusion.

BTW, I was surprised I could take pictures in here

So we said goodbye to Sophia, headed outside, and more lines. Took 30 minutes to get a cab on our own. Ouch.

Overall, STAR Class departure was a failure.😥

So sorry your Genie didn’t give you the magic carpet ride John 😩.

We have had some interesting trips the past three years.

Irma in September 2017 got MJ shortened pre hurricane and Oasis shortened post hurricane.

Our 27 hour flight to get to Singapore for Mariner Odyssey  in April 2018 took 68 and we made it to the ship with 3 hours to spare. Plus that cruise got the last leg cancelled so they could do drydock in Spain vs Bahamas

We sailed on the Oasis for the Noro cruise in January 2019

I wonder what 2021 will bring?

A lot of your dollars to RCCL 😝

I would be curious to know how the Suites/Pinnacle walk off was on this cruise?  Maybe they had issues too. I never get to sleep in on disembarkation day. She is always in a hurry. Lol

Maybe like all the other people???

Really?  You do understand that this is a corporation that wants every little dollar you can spend, and when your cruise is over, so are you 🙄

Probably because I saw it every day for 12 days😉

Pretty sure the certificate was shot from deck 7 Starboard rock wall

Too much obstruction for me.  I’d want nothing but open ocean seas for my view not structural....

Not sure where you are coming from but never had an issue with Suite/Pinnacle walk off. Maybe you should try it sometime.

If you look to the starboard side all you will see is water.

Most traditional balconies have a 180 degree view. This balcony has almost a 270 degree view, with some has structural interference.  It might not be what you are wanting but it has the best of both worlds; you can watch the sea or people watch.

How do you know I haven’t? 😉.   I never like to brag where I’ve been, I was taught that it was tacky.  However I find it very amusing a few of you need to show your wealth.  I’m not saying anything that someone would love to ask.  If I’m wrong, I’d still like to know 😉😎.  Continue on, I love cruising as the next person, just not brag too much.

LMAO, no not Mr. 1750 🤣.  First and foremost I am a female, lives to dance 💃. I don’t think I’d quite get along with Mr. 1750 LOL.  BTW I am married to a very high end executive who likes to cruise on our own (rented 🙄) yacht.  RCCL certainly has some beautiful suites on her newest ships.

Not sure they have even actually cruised Royal Caribbean from their posts.  Looks to be a Carnival cruiser.

Too funny, we have cruised everything under the sun.  Every line.  Like I said my husband likes cruising on yachts.  However we have cruised on yes Carnival, RCCL, Norwegian, Celebrity, Crystal and even a European River Cruise.   So that’s it.  I will not discuss where we go, what we spend, and I wish all of you safe during these difficult times we have ahead of us.

Must be from another line. Otherwise they would know not to quote multiple photos. :classic_tongue::classic_biggrin:

Why because the King of RCCL says he hates it and not to?  Sorry, I do my own thing, no one tells me not to do something.  Besides I like quoting 😉

You know some people ask about the noise form the Theater and BW. If the door is locked, I heard almost nothing. What I didn't like was the light from the 24/7 TV screens. It was so bright, Even the curtains leaked light.

Wash those hands and be safe. No cruises for a while for all of us.
