Good decision.  By September things will either have returned to some sort of normality, or we will be scavenging through the bins, living a semi - feral life.

It won't take long before some film director has got his hands on the subject!

They already have; "Outbreak", "The Stand", "Shaun of the Dead".

Wash your hands and steer clear of zombies.

We have no choice,we live in the deep south and are driving back next week.First stop Modena, just south of the "plague zone".Hopefully we will be ok.A lot of industry around there.Could be a major economical problem for Italy.

G'day young Brian, you will be ok mate, tuck into a few of these. Enjoy.833531862_th(1).jpg.e9e95f5c6ac62c40ddd17364aabfaa36.jpg

And stay off the Coronas, stick with Stella Artois, virus free.  Peroni made in Italia could be dodgy.

No steer clear of Lager, London Pride or Aspalls cider should see you through.

They have to really otherwise they will become the bad boys of cruising, at the end of the day they have a duty of care towards their passengers.

And shareholders 😊

What's bad here in the U.S. is that travel insurance companies are refusing to cover any cancellations due to the virus even if you were booked to go to a high risk region such as Italy and the U.S. issues a level 4 (their highest) alert and, in some cases, even if your doctor advises you not to go due to medical issues.

3 or 4 pints of  ye olde Somerset Scrumpy Cider would fix the Corona up, better than antibiotics.

Crikey, a lot of Americans would have lost a lot of $ then, a load of self cancellation going on.

Some Insurance companies in the UK are saying the same.

Ordinary soap kills the virus too - hence all the handwashing advice.  How long before we're getting advice to eat soap?  😁

After listening to Boris and his team of experts, they seem to think the virus will peak in three months and then recede in the following three months, so roll on September then.  Just spoke to my travel insurance and they have said that if I have the virus before we travel, and have a note from the GP to verify it, they will pay out.  They wont pay out if we are refused boarding on to the ship, just medical expenses, heyho

Listening to a radio phone in last night regarding Corona Virus

There are approx. 66 million people In the UK and approx. 50 cases of CV in the UK.

Even if 1 million people had CV that means there are still 65 million that haven't got it.

We will still be on Iona in August regardless. (God willing)

Media over-hyping in some cases - yes we need to be informed but not every time we open

a newspaper or switch on  the TV.

The media have been floundering around since the GE, and Brexit finally happening, so this Coronavirus scare has been a Godsend to them.  They now a new project fear situation for them to sink their teeth into.

I take it if P&O cancel a cruise due to the virus it will be a full refund?

So if the passengers are quarantined on the ship like in Japan, who picks up the bill for the food etc.

I trust Boris on healthcare as much as I do on the economy - ie zilch!

You and I take a very different view on both these issues John.

You see them as Project Fear. I see facing reality as sensible and ignoring facts as crazy.

Just seen that Sri Lanka are no longer allowing cruise ships to dock, for The current world cruise this may mean another change to plan.

But you have to be able to rationalise about what is the likely outcome Harry. Your assumption is that the worst case is what will happen  and unfortunately that also seems to be the media view as well. That way leads to all sorts of unnecessary panic which puts extra strain on lots of services, the first of which is the complete overloading of the 111 service.

A little more common sense is needed otherwise the emergency services will grind to a halt before we get anywhere near even a minor crisis.
