What is new on your carnival packing lists?

Recommended Posts

In the past few years i added new items. When a ship lost lights i now pack a head flashlight and glow sticks. Given the current flu i will pack masks. And maybe some straws. Anything new on your list? Fun or serious.

As an FYI, wearing a mask will not prevent you from getting COVID-19, because the virus is small enough to pass through a mask. A mask will only help people who have it from passing it on to other people through their saliva. And if you contract it, you certainly don’t need to bring your own masks as they will be provided to you.

Thanks for heads up but i see all treating doctors and personnel  wear them. I only want to take my chances in the casino.

Depends on the mask -

The newest thing for me is the stuff I removed: Organizers. Clutter and setup/cleanup that I just don't need.

We really like our mesh shower caddy, like this one...

It's nice to have a place for everything without trying to set it on top of the fixtures or on the floor.

I also take a simple 3-way outlet adapter instead of the fancy ones with USB plugs and such. One similar to this...

In addition to that, I take a long extension cord (9'-10'). These two items take up very little space, give us plenty of plugs to charge our devices, and the long extension cord can be ran over to the bed, for my portable fan at night, or into the bathroom if need be. We can set the fan in there to air it out after showers.

Water shoes and microfiber towel(thanks for the tip coevan!) for our beach excursion. Maybe another flashlight, as they were a lifesaver for us when we walked around an upper deck late at night. Those decks aren't lit very well.

For my next cruise, I am replacing my towel clips with towel bands. It looks like they will be easier to put on and keep the towel in place better than the clips.

They are likely wearing special types of masks that actually do filter out the virus. The type that is sold in your local drug store will not.

IF I were worried about cold/flu/virus's, I'd probably do the clear goggles. (Bio-security at home for our commercial chicken houses includes REAL masks, and goggles would go further for significant protection.)

But, I'm not...so... I'm thinking COCA COLA!  Or... just drink more wine and skip the Myer's dark/Appleton rum drinks.  I pack heavy enough.

If you are referring to general treating doctors and health personnel (not COVID-19 specific), my understanding is it is as much to prevent passing something on to a patient as to protect the doctor.  If you are referring to COVID, I suspect they have a different quality mask than many of us might have access to.

My wife has her full face snorkel mask with rx lens. She is excited to try it. The abc islands are great for fish. We also have reef safe sun block. There is so much to know nowadays.

That's because they are in very close contact with infected people. Not for the "public."

For the first time ever I will be packing close-toed shoes for horseback riding and the ship's ropes course.

Now that is a mask that might actually protect her from corona. 🤣

It depends on the type of mask you are wearing.

A caution to those with a full face mask...

On my last trip with Woodwind in Bonaire (a highly rated sail/snorkel operator), the owner told us they have had 3 separate guests lose consciousness while in the water and using one of those masks. Scary.

They bought some to try out (all are highly experienced divers), and found that they all got headaches after about 20 minutes, and felt ill / light headed after a half hour.

It seems that they do not provide enough airflow to safely stay in the water for more than 15 minutes or so.

It's one of those "looks good on paper" ideas.

I'll stick to my traditional mask and snorkle setup.
