Does Cheers start as soon as you board the ship in NOLA??

This is our 6th cruise but we have never purchased the cheers package. I'm wondering if the package starts as soon as we board in NOLA. A friend told me it starts the next day out of TX. I don't know if that is accurate or not. 

We are totally prepared to possibly not be able to Port due to Corona Virus scares and figure if it happens we might as well try Cheers.

You will just pay tax for most of the first evening while going down the Mississippi.

I would not worry about missing ports because of the media inspired hysteria. I assure you the ports that have turned away ships, and the ones that have accepted them, are being reminded that there are alternatives to visiting these ports. And the large sum of money that comes with them.

When boarding a ship in New Orleans (dock is adjacent to The French quarter) you will be tested for alcohol in your blood. You will be denied boarding if you have not been drinking.

I'm fairly sure I had to pay tax on every drink the first night and most of the last night.

Texas and New York departures cannot have Cheers start until the second day due to state alcohol laws.

Is the 18 percent tip added onto every drink you get or is it on the price of the package?

Ha ha! I've cruised out of NOLA twice. Quite the fun party town. I'll make sure I have a drink. Ha ha!!

 

I'm not worried about missed ports really. If it happens it happens. I've been to both of them a few times. We have missed a port due to weather. No biggie. We have friends also going. It's their first cruise so I hope it all goes great for their sake. Besides we have some fun excursions planned. One is the same one we did last June.

It is added to the package price when you purchase Cheers.  They charge $51.95 + 18% TIP = $61.30 per person, per day.
