That is a different incident. The OP of this thread witnessed the fight on the Encore first hand and posted his own, personal photos of it taken at the time. He is still currently on board the ship. The article you posted is about an MSC ship that had been denied ports. The Encore has not been denied any ports.

And it seems like the fight in the video is in a different boat than the pics that the OP posted. Sorry for the confusion.

So much fear over corona and issues with ports and cruiselines, it was bound to erupt as violence somewhere in a cruise....

Do we have any video of this huge fight?  I didn't want to be the first to say it (because I agree too many people who can't handle their liquor are drinking too much on cruises)...but the pictures do look like a pushing/stumbling match between drunken idiots

Our first port of call is San Juan and we’re scheduled to arrive in 2-3 hours.  Absolutely everything seems normal.  Haven’t overheard anyone talking about the fight, but I don’t socialize that much.  So far this cruise has been excellent and I’d be surprised if anything changes that.  

 

I didn’t realize how popular the drink packages have become, so my citing that as a contributing factor appears wrong.  With 4000 passengers you’re going to get a few idiots from time to time.  My observation is that the passengers are a great mix and very courteous.  It doesn’t have the feel of a party ship at all, yet everyone is enjoying the cruise.  Except the guy in the brig!

Hey all. Finally awake after a long night and we’re about to dock in San Juan. Perfect Timing for me.

 

all I know is what I saw. I got the video from someone else’s phone when I was there as my video did not work.

 

There were two Instances of fights with the same people. I was at the chandelier casino level. what I saw/heard happen Was there was commotion at the social. I heard one fight breaking out and when I looked over, security had cleared people out of the club and everything seemed fine. Lots of yapping and jawing and then everything was ok.

 

a few minutes later, I was playing casino around the chandelier again. Next thing I know it was complete pandamonium. People were crying for blood and everyone At the casino rushed to the railing to watch What was happening including myself.
 

What I witnessed was nothing short of an all-out melee people were running out of the club like a fire broke out. At least 3 separate brawls...including one lady-on-lady. I saw aT least one girl pushed to the ground in her dress. The other fights you see in the photo are the other brawls. Security spent at least 15 minutes down there trying to keep people apart as we all watched from the staircase and casino.

 

i don’t know the fate of the perpetrators

But I did see at least one roaming about later as if nothing happened. I don’t know anyone will get thrown off at San Juan.

Well this certainly does sound like a huge fight (or fights).  My guess based on the multiple fights including woman v woman.

 

Too much alcohol + a guy hitting on another guy's girl/wife (or vice versa) + few more drinks and people talking more and more = boiled over into an ugly scene.  

 

Pretty much happens nightly at bars/clubs...except those bouncers are 6 foot 6 / 350 pounds and can squash a situation a lot faster

Enjoy!  Sea days are always the worse with amateur drinkers and free booze.  I have never seen so many drunk people in my life than on those days.

That is why the ship also has a medical center, a morgue and a jail.

The issue sits squarely On the shoulders to these idiots who for some reason believe common decorum does not apply to them.  I find they’re jackasses sober and that intensifies when they’re drunk.

BTW...just returned from a Carnival Cruise.  Talking to a bartender there, she said over 95% of the adult passengers has a drink package.  So, nearly everyone has the package on these cruises, regardless of which cruise line.

 

I drink...a lot. On the days I set my mind to it. Haha. I’ve never felt inclined to fight with anyone. Alcohol just removes your “roadblocks” so to speak. Also a bartender for ~13 years so seen a lot of this. Not in venues where people are paying thousands but hey, money can’t buy class. 🍻🍻

I didn't see much drunkenness on our cruise in January although I did see many more people than usual walking around with a drink in hand.
