Michelle H Posted March 6, 2020 #77 Share Posted March 6, 2020 I’d be surprised if it were anything more than what they said in email about the added screenings. Which is only going to catch people if they’re symptomatic at that second in time, not if they’re just a carrier. But hoping you’re right.
Mark_UK Posted March 6, 2020 #78 Share Posted March 6, 2020 I hope it's something more than secondary screenings, which certainly won't 'restore my confidence'. I'm supposed to be sailing from Venice in May...
Mark_UK Posted March 6, 2020 #79 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Seems a second former Grand Princess passenger has been diagnosed, unrelated to the case which led to the current quarantine. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/coronavirus-alberta-1.5487787
Coralc Posted March 6, 2020 #80 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Not surprising. People that disembarked from the Grand Princess in San Francisco on Feb. 21st mostly went home and back into the community. And now they are making a fuss about people that are presently onboard. I don't know why they are stressing about testing. It is already in the population and pretty much...out of control. We'll get through it.

Coralc Posted March 6, 2020 #84 Share Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) 35 now SA. ( with symptoms) But it doesn't really matter. A whole boatload of people disembarked in SF on 2/21 and dispersed. Those Princess cruises out of SF are local cesspools of flu/colds/noro anyway. We have no interest in them. And as I mentioned on a now deleted thread. The much larger problem is if/when it gets into the huge California homeless population. But the warmer weather should help. cgags47 Posted March 6, 2020 #86 Share Posted March 6, 2020 I also suspect that they may adjust the cancellation schedule and charges, and that could be the reason for the webcast.

Our final payment is due next friday and we are waiting until the last minute to cancel to see if they ease their cancellation policy. We have insurance, but i will still loose 25% of the total cruise cost if i cancel after i make that final payment.

thjeepster Posted March 6, 2020 #97 Share Posted March 6, 2020 This is very good to know but I don't know what to do now!...We are booked an April 25th Cruise and paid a lot extra to get married on the ship thru Royal Celebrations....I don't know if they will follow the same guidelines. I don't really want to change the date since we already have everything set....with all the wedding stuff, Items with the date on them, guests already booked also. This is so overwhelming and stressful!

Are they testing the crew? Very scary.
Les57 Posted March 6, 2020 Author #99 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Thank you RCI for doing the right thing and offering everyone to cancel within 48 hours with RCC applied to future trips!! To those who were following, we did purchase insurance at time of booking, as it was not cancel at anytime, it was worthless unless we actually were ill prior to the trip. Again, Thank you RCI !!!!!

I am glad you waited for this to play out and can now cancel with a FCC. I completely understand why you would not want to sail with your daughter at this time. Stay healthy!
