We sail on Sunday, March 8th and the additional onboard credit is showing on our boarding documents--in addition to the $50 promotional and $100 shareholder credit. So, yes, the non-cancellation OBC is additional.

I have a late March booking on the Freedom and have not received anything from Carnival, nor does the OBC show on my booking documents under Cruise Manager.

My own PVP was out today and the person I was transferred to said my cruise is within the guidelines to receive the OBC.  She didn't know why the letter wasn't sent.

I am beginning to feel like the Lone Stranger.  I will call back tomorrow.

My understanding is the only way you get the notice is if you booked thru Carnival direct.   TA and PVP get a notice to notify their clients.   Certainly not a PVP expert..... that said you are covered, the email is generic and the OBC (assuming you are sailing will be applied, none have been done to date).

I’m assuming this OBC is for new bookings made between those dates as well?

Thank you very much Jimbo.  That explains a lot.  It would have been nice if the person who took my call had told me that.  She said she didn't know why I hadn't been notified.

Our plan has always been to sail.

From, the Carnival Website : May I purchase a Carnival Gift Card by phone?

No, the Carnival Gift Card cannot be purchased by phone – they can only be purchased online at carnival.ourgiftcards.com, on board Carnival Cruise Line ships as well as at approximately 9,000 retail locations.

Does anyone know if we buy the cards onboard, can we use the OBC?

Final payment is due this week for May Sunrise.  I will ask my TA about this--an additional $150 obc would be very nice.

The OBC is for cruises until May 31st that were already booked as of March 6th.   Any new bookings made after that do not get the OBC.

The OBC is meant to persuade people to keep their cruise and not cancel.

Thank you Carnival!  We are on the Dream April 18th and have the $100.00 shareholder credit.  Now $200.00 more!  More drinks and dinner(s) in the Steakhouse.  Not cancelling now!

I'm on the March 21st Dream cruise as well. If you're not already in it, there's a very active FB group with about 460 members in case you're interested.

I’m on the Dream March 21st, too.  I haven’t received a letter.  I booked directly on Carnival.com.  I’ve tried calling because I’m going to cancel.  My mother has a very compromised immune system so, I don’t want to bring anything home to her. But the Carnival customer service is down right now. They are working on “network improvements.” Otherwise known as everyone calling at once 😊

Please help me understand the wording in the letter. We sail March 22 in about two weeks for a 7 day out of Baltimore.

“For guests who are booked prior to March 6, 2020, if you decide to change vacation plans, we will allow those booked and sailings between now and May 31 to move their booking to a new date and receive a Future Cruise Credit in the amount of the nonrefundable cancellation fee.”

I understand the part about moving my booking to a new date, but am a little confused about  “and receive a Future Cruise Credit in the amount of the nonrefundable cancellation fee.”

Does this mean move my current cruise to a new date, then get a credit to take another cruise?  If so, What would be my non-refundable cancellation fee?   Would my non-refundable cancellation fee my whole cruise amount since I’m past final?

I booked a casino offer.  I called to get obc for price drop and was told no. Called back two days later and received $234 obc for the price drop. Plus another $150 if I don’t cancel.

Sweet! Sadly, carnival has chosen to treat our booking differently. Called today and was told for a second time that there will be no compensation for the $301 price drop. And no OBC for not cancelling. But they did do one thing: raised our cancellation fee to $605 from $500. I don’t get it, but congrats to everyone who has been taken care of.

I'm a little concerned we may be in the same boat.  The OBC does not show on our documents and we haven't received the letter.  They can get a little weird with the casino deals sometimes.  I went through kind of what you did with the price drop about two years ago.  I'm less concerned with the OBC than I am potentially needing to cancel.  I'm still on the fence about that and planning to watch and see what direction things are going by the end of the month.

I called Carnival yesterday about a price drop for my May cruise . I was told my booking dropped over $300 and she asked if I would accept the difference as OBC I said yes . After being put on hold she came back with different numbers ($100) I said yes to the new numbers(any extra is better than none) . I was put on hold again this time the call ended with 0 extra OBC and the keep my booking OBC doesn't match  what carnivals letter reads for a 6+ day cruise. I guess it really depends who you get.

Happy Sailing

Thanks for the info!!  Pretty sweet deal if we get to go.  $916, 6 day for for 3 in a balcony cabin on the Lido (that includes grats, taxes blah blah) and we are now getting $400 OBC and I have 300 fun play.  So basically the cruise is costing us $216..or $72pp.  Now, if we can just manage to make it on the ship...
