TravelinGert Posted March 8, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2020 Anyone else received the email announcing enhanced screening? Not sure how to do a screen shot of this so just copying over: March 6, 2020 Dear Valued Guest, At American Queen Steamboat Company, our thoughts are with those affected by COVID-19. Please be assured that American Queen Steamboat Company and Victory Cruise Lines are closely monitoring the situation. We’ve enhanced screening protocols, and have taken the recommended necessary precautions on each of our vessels. Our top priority is – and will always be – the safety of our guests and employees. We remain optimistic about the future, and encourage you to do the same. We’ve made adjustments to our deposit requirements, final payment schedules and cancellation policies to make it easier to evaluate your vacation plans. We have exciting things planned for next month. First is the introduction of our new and beautiful American Countess on the Mississippi River. Next is the start of our second successful season of the Victory I and Victory II, providing spectacular voyages on the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway. Thank you for your being a valued guest of our two brands. We want you to be able to travel with confidence based on the flexibility that our adjusted policies offer. Sincerely, John W. TinCan782 Posted March 8, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2020 Ask Corona virus related questions (symptoms), take passengers' temperature would be my guess. Pretty easy to implement.
nanatexas Posted March 10, 2020 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2020 On the american duchess now. When checking in at the hotel they had you fill in a form about your health and take your temperature. If you are not sick no problems. We were told by the caption not to handshake with each other. Hand sanitizer all over the boat.
kobecat Posted March 11, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2020 We are in Australia and booked for 19 July NO to Memphis. Final chance to cancel with only payment of the $250 pp admin fee according to our documents is 14 March. Does anyone know what this means: We’ve made adjustments to our deposit requirements, final payment schedules and cancellation policies to make it easier to evaluate your vacation plans. We don't want to cancel obviously (we have paid in full) but the chances of us getting to the US, appear to be slimmer by the day. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I asked my travel agent, and I got the impression that the adjustments might differ by sailing or by how far off the cruise is. We're after final payment for our June cruise, and my offer was to delay for another sailing this year or early next year and not be charged a rebooking fee. (Comparable cabin type, and if the later cruise is cheaper, the difference is refunded.) There isn't a comparable sailing to our Pittsburgh-to-Louisville sailing during that time frame, so we're thinking about our options. If you used a travel agent to make your booking, I'd ask them to check with the cruise line. If you booked directly, you probably have to contact them directly with your booking number in hand. LDVinNC Posted March 12, 2020 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2020 kobecat, double check that your final payment is due now. We just booked an August trip and were told that the final payment date is 60 days out instead of the usual 120 days out, due to coronavirus. This might give you some breathing room.
