So all the major cruise lines except for CARNIVAL have done the right thing by their customers.

Carnival will give you 11 months to sail  if you don't want to risk your life and your families life and not cruise as the CDC now recommends. Well tough luck to us customers if we needed 12 or more months to sail again. On top of that Carnival has now offered cash cabin credits not to cancel your cruise.  That seems like blood money to me at this point of the declared NATIONAL EMERGENCY!  People will not forget this companies response.  I as a Carnival frequent cruiser can only hope they correct their policy before it suffers irreparable damage to its corporate brand name.

CDC never told you not to sail 11 months from now. You told yourself this and damage your own credibility on CC as a result.

Not sure what Carnival sent or told you about having to sail within the next 11 months? Mine clearly says that if I choose the future cruise credit and $600.00 on board credit over refund that I just needed to book by 12/31/20 for sailing by 12/31/22.

Fortunately I’m not impacted by this (yet). If this goes through summer it may be a different story. But what I read was 100% refund or 100% FCC and up to $600 OBC which sounds fair.

I would definitely prefer the 100% FCC and $600 OBC if it happened to me but worst case 100% refund isn’t bad.

I would say more than fair.

I couldn't agree more. Plus, this Halloween we have the cabin next door to where you left the duck on the Panorama. Carnival gave us a $350 price drop today so we're only paying $891.28 for two including fees and taxes for the 7 day Mexican Riviera. That's $57.84 per person per day when allowing for our $50 OBC that came with the fare.

I’m anxious for the NFL schedule to come out because I see some great prices during the season!

We are sailing to Alaska soon and haven’t seen any emails or correspondence from Carnival yet. Hardly doing their best.

Carnival has to be overwhelmed with handling a rapidly changing situation and is likely concentrating its efforts on the cruises that were cancelled just yesterday through April 10.  Alaska season begins April 20, and I'm sure that they will be addressing this soon.  Canada has closed its ports to large cruise ships at least through July 1.  This means Carnival cannot call on Victoria or Vancouver, which they use on their Alaskan cruises to satisfy the requirements of the US Passenger Vessel Services Act (PSVA) that requires a foreign port.  Unless the US government gives them an exemption to the PVSA, they will need to cancel Alaskan cruises through July 1.  I would expect that all cruise lines sailing to Alaska are waiting to see if the US government will grant such an exemption before making the cancellation decision.

Should your cruise be cancelled, I would expect that you would receive the same offer of those who had their cruises cancelled yesterday - 100% refund or 100% future cruise credit plus $600 onboard credit if you rebook.

I’m so sorry if this type of question was asked already in this thread. I cancelled my April 2020 Magic cruise and will be booking a replacement cruise for November 2020. The replacement cruise is less expensive than my April cruise was. For reasons, I’d like that difference in the form of OBC. For example, let’s say the April cruise was $2000 and November is $1500. I’m getting $1000 refunded to my cc and $1000 FCC for the April cancellation. If I pay the refunded $1000 toward the November cruise and use $500 of the FCC for the balance, will the remaining $500 turn into OBC?

Thank you in advance for your time!

Has anyone rebooked with casino rates? I'm curious if I can talk to any agent to rebook or give I still have to directly going go the casino. I would be pretty upset if I waited two hours on hold, just to get told that I was being transfer and had go wait again. TIA

I would only pay the $500 and keep the extra $500 to be sure of that . You never know , you may lose it otherwise . Won’t hurt to ask though

Looks like that’s a better deal than RCL. I just happened to see someone posted RCL’s on Instagram and they are offering 100% refund or 125% FCC and you must sail by 12/31/21.

In my opinion Carnival is offering the best deal of all the major cruise lines. I booked my cruise as a last minute casino offer and paid $140.00 for a balcony room on a 7 night Eastern Caribbean itinerary. Sure I most likely won't be able to get that same rate/offer but I do believe there will be deals to be had when ships begin sailing and that's exactly when I plan to book! A few friends don't think it's fair I was able to book a last minute deal like that and still get a full $600.00 OBC due to the cancellation. I completely disagree as seeings when everyone was cancelling I had my bags packed and a pocket full of cash ready to play in the casino on board! I think it's completely fair I am getting the future cruise credit and full $600.00 OBC.

I agree.  We all were ok with our rate when we booked, though I am green with envy at the deal you got.

Those who cancelled a few days ago were ok with the offer they got at the time.  We who waited until Carnival cancelled are being offered a different deal.  There is no inherent unfairness.

None at all, that said they just cannot co-mingle all the options.

Cancelled my April 30th sailing online. I'm ready to rebook a new cruise - do I need to call to book it and get the FCC applied NOW? Or can I book it online and make the call at another time?

Sure

Now that all cruises have been canceled until 4/10, Carnival has a little breathing room and should use this time to clarify their policies.  Three major cancellation policies were issued in a two week period – 1) Ability to cancel through 5/31 and receive FCC or get OBC if you elect to sail; 2) Requirement (from CLIA) for those over age 70 to obtain a release from their doctor and if they could not sail receive a full refund or FCC + OBC; and 3) Cancellation of all cruises through 4/10 and receive full refund or FCC + OBC.  For some guests, more than one of these policies apply and it becomes difficult to sort things out.  I hope that in the next week Carnival reviews these policies to eliminate inconsistencies and extend the date for voluntary cancellation to be more in line with other cruise lines.  Of course, the 70+ policy came from CLIA, and Carnival as the largest CLIA member should take the lead on getting this policy clarified.

Once Carnival straightens out their policies, they should post them along with a FAQ section on their website with the disclaimer that the situation is dynamic, and these policies are subject to change in the future.  If people could get their questions answered on the Carnival website, that would cut down on the volume of phone calls that is overloading their system and those of their travel advisers.  In the best of times, many Carnival customer service reps are not familiar with all the policies, and with this rapidly changing situation, it must be difficult for them to keep up.

Well that’s a view, subjective vs objective, but I understand. When is soon?

This is what I referring to earlier.  They were in a react world when they made these and that world kept changing.  I canno conceive that they would make them all into one.  If you meant just clarify the wording, then I agree.

What I suggest is that Carnival clarify what parts of their policies are in effect for cruises starting 4/10 and after.  It is fairly obvious what applies from now until 4/9 – all cruises are cancelled – only decision guests need to make is to get full refund or FCC+ OBC, and they have time to make this decision.

I think that the most confusing and controversial policy is the 70+ fit to sail.  The individual cruise lines are each being bashed for this, when it actually came from the industry trade group CLIA – Cruise Lines International Association.  After the meeting between cruise line execs and VP Pence one week ago, Pence requested a proposal in 48 hours from the cruise industry.  The industry responded through CLIA with the 70+ fit to sail proposal.  Sounds reasonable based on data showing most COVID-19 deaths were coming from elderly with underlying medical problems.  Under the pressure of the deadline, and trying to respond to ongoing situations, this was not well thought out.  It should have been obvious that few, if any, medical professionals would assume the liability to sign such a letter.
