MagnoliaBlossom Posted March 13, 2020 #151 Share Posted March 13, 2020 I guess you never heard of SARS., first reported in 2003. That wasn't named after a country, region or city. And the media doesn't pick the name, health officials do. Yes, the officials do - until pressured to do otherwise. Try checking Reuter’s headline from Dec 2019 - Jan 2020 and see how the officials named it at that time. And yes, I have heard of SARS, but perhaps you missed MERS.76 past cruisesUpcoming:NCL Getaway 3/29/2020NCL Breakaway 1/10/2021CCL Dream 5/16/2021

rabidstoat Posted March 13, 2020 #153 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Diabetes, HIV, and heart disease are listed as no-gos. The American Heart Association says that nearly half of Americans have heart disease, that includes people who fall under the latest definition of high blood pressure -- anything above 130/80. Not sure if overly low blood pressure is also considered to be heart disease. It just seems like this would disqualify a LOT of cruisers. Though it seems that even though those under 70 shouldn't sail, supposedly, with those conditions, plenty of people don't even know they have high blood pressure. Some don't even know they're diabetic. So I guess the under 70 crowd can still board in ignorance.

swanee4 Posted March 13, 2020 #159 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Thank you seaman11. This doesn’t mention anything about someone over 70 requiring a note signed by a doctor giving their ok to travel.
