Princess state "Guests have received separate notifications of these cancellations." No such notification has been received several days later.

They probably mean  if you go onto the Princess site you see this?

If you click on current travel advisories   - on the top of that page it says

For the latest updates regarding cancelled cruises, view the Impacted & Cancelled Cruises page for more information.

You then click on that link  and it tells you every ship that has been cancelled? the options and how to claim.

Well that's not strictly true!!! I have had a refund but no FCC. I cancelled 12 March and had most of money back on CC a few days after. My cruise was for May 15th.

How can it not be true!!!   its on an email from Princess  ROTFL

 😀                                        😅                                        🤣

We have received no communication from.princess UK other since our cancellation notice by e.mail on 24th March other than a confirmation of a conversation yesterday chasing up the £12k they owe us  that confirmation was at my request. We have oaid a deposit on an Easter cn Sky Princess, not paying a penny more unti we get our money back, nay even cancel that and never cruise with them again after this despite turning elite on our last cruise. This has turned into a nightmare for us.

Pretty much the same here. Cancellation notice 14th March, random “sorry for the delay” message a few weeks ago, nothing since.

Seemingly the inefficiencies of British Credit card companies are up there with Princess so seemingly no light there either. It’s not as if ours was a complicated trip. Air fares were independent through BA and refunded within TWO days of request, leaving only the cruise and its excursions to be refunded.

There can be no credible excuse from Princess.

Hope you get some joy soon, clearly your happy memories of Princess of old are being tarnished by the day.

We are getting some movement at least. We cancelled our 4/18 cruise on the CB, on March 10th and was in the 50/50 cancellation period. We had Princess insurance and was waiting for the cancellation details from the TA we used to file the claim. Then we got moved into the 3/12 options & took option #2.

The 25% FCC showed up on Thursday in our Circle Accounts. Mine first and then about 6-7 hours later, in my brides account. I was getting concerned about hers as was afraid something went wrong and they were going to process hers under option #1. At least that part got settled OK. One nice thing is the 25% was based on the original cruise fare we booked online with Princess, and not the reduced fare the T/A gives us, so ended up being a little more than we figured.

We filed a CC dispute around 4/18 or so with Citibank and got a provision credit for what I calculated they owed us. I was surprised Citibank gave them 60 days to respond, which just seems like a long time, given I can get a mortgage fully approved in 30 days or less. Anyway, we are coming up on that 60 days next Friday, and just waiting to see it if they make it permanent or if Princess refunds the amount correctly before then, I can cancel the dispute online with a mouse click. Next go round, I will put this on Amex as just seem to have better policies with things like this.

I cancelled on 4/2 our grand princess Alaska cruise departing well today 6/6 from Vancouver to Whittier.was told full cruise fare, EZ air and insurance 100% to refunded.......  but they didn’t say when. Useless to call. Reps reading from script. 6k due. Wonder if I will get the interest they earned😳

Same here, we got our conditional refund from Citi within 48 hours of filing the dispute. No word yet from Chase re our dispute through them for our excursions.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

It took Chase about ~ 20 days to rule in our favor, we did receive a conditional refund within 24 hours.

My mistake was to put our charges on 3 cards.  I did this because 2 of the cards had special deals - one was a bonus cash back and the other was no interest for 9 months.  The third was the card I generally use, because of 2% cash back on everything.

I learned a couple of things:  1.  Don't do this if at all possible, it sure complicates filing disputes. Two of the cards required me to send a bunch of information, the other did not.  2.  Two of the cards have US customer service, which I prefer dealing with.

I have concluded that my everyday card will not be the Citi Double Cash 2% card anymore; instead it will be the Capital One card that gives 1.5% cash back and much better US based customer service.

Chase United Explorer -- dispute resolved in about 2 weeks. Received credit for full cruise fare and excursions. No additional documentation or whatever needed. Provisional credit was there in less than 24 hours.

Hi all

I have been following this forum for many weeks now. Thank you all for the information provided. You have all been very helpful.

I cancelled our cruise 18/03 for 15/05 sail date. We did not fall into either pause 1 or 2. However we were told full refund on cruise fair and fcc for EZAir (as we had restricted flights). We were told 7 days for the Refund. Later found it was 60 days.

We were refunded the cruise fare $10k just inside of the 60 days. The refund was triggered 28/04 and payment was released (by Princess) to the credit card 08/05. Showed up on my card 3 business days later. Backdated to 8/05

Refund for excursions were triggered 22/05 and released (by Princess) to my card 29/05. Showed up in the credit card 3 business days later. Backdated to 29/05.

First refund was triggered and took 2 weeks to be released by Princess.

2nd refund was faster. Only 1 week from when it was triggered.

I contacted my bank after the 2nd week of waiting and filed a dispute. Was told 45 days wait for the dispute. At 44 days my bank informed me by email the dispute was not going to proceed. We were to contact Princess direct for refund. This was due to the pandemic.

Lucky for me, the $10k hit my account the day before the email. If it were the other way around, I would have had a heart attack.

Still waiting on the EZAir $2k credit and the out of pocket expenses claim $180.00 (Emailed 19/03).

Overall happy with the outcome.

For those who are still waiting, hang in there. They are getting faster with the refunds.

FYI - I contacted Princess twice a week.

I finally caved in and filed a dispute with my bank.  This was for a cruise canceled in March and was also sailing in March.  First I was told 60 days, then 90 days, then an unknown amount of days.  I understand all the challenges the cruise lines are facing, but this huge delay in processing refunds is sketchy at best.  While there are challenges, I have no doubt the processing could be fast tracked if so desired.

My FCC was processed a while back, and my only issue was an OBC that I purchased for myself to use on the cruise.  I feel it could have gotten lost in the shuffle since it's not a typical refund of cruise fare.  The other anomaly is that my cruise was on Cunard, but Princess in California handles all the bookings and payment processing for US bookings.  I was getting brushed around a bit with some agents telling me I had to contact Cunard UK, and Cunard UK telling me to contact Princess in California.  It was getting more and more frustrating.  I purchased the OBC using my bank debit card (PNC Bank).  The dispute process was easy and they instantly placed a credit for the full amount on my checking account, with the caveat that it could be reversed should the investigation not be in my favor.  I think they have 45 days to investigate and close the dispute.

One thing this experience has taught me is to be very cautious booking a future cruise, at least now.  Knowing that any monies paid will be tied up 90 days or longer should I need to cancel and request a refund.  I think the cruise lines have shot themselves in the foot with this.  Losing the confidence of many loyal cruisers when confidence in the cruise industry is already at an all-time low.

Anyone who received FCC you may want to read what happened to me today:

3/22 Regal cruise (US citizen in case you wondered)

3/12 canceled by Princess

3/16 received verification from Princess of receipt of Option 2 refund request

Option 2 was to include 100% refund and 100% FCC

4/25 credit card points for OBC returned to credit card

4/30 - booked 1/2/2021 Sky cruise - paid my part in full (casino booking and was told any FCC I might receive could not be used)

5/7 - received new receipt showing casino and me paid in full for 1/2/2021 cruise

5/16 - filed dispute with Barclay credit card (only for one of the charges for 2 different cruises)

5/22 - called Princess; informed they do not have my option 2 request (!)

6/1 - received FCC (but no refund to credit card)

6/6 - FCC is now listed as having been used toward 1/2/21 cruise

!!!

NO, I received verification (5/7) that the balance due for the 1/2/2021 cruise was ZERO. Princess casino booking told me I had to pay in full for 1/2/21 cruise regardless of any pending FCC. I paid the additional amount since I got the points for OBC returned to my credit card and thought they were working on processing my refund and FCC for 3/22 cruise.

Checked that booking thinking maybe they gave me OBC for the $498 credit. Nope - they just took back the FCC that was finally on my account. So I am all the way back to square 1.

Who did you contact at Princess? I have contacted customer relations and various executives. No response?

In Australia we only have 1 number to call. I spoke to the reservations team and if not happy with what I was being told, I requested to speak to their supervisor. I was always put thru to the supervisor. The supervisor then told me they would send an email further up the chain as they had a contact in the refund team. Unsure how true this was. Each person I spoke to said there were many notes on my file. (Because of the amount of times I called). This happened a few times.
I am also unsure if my persistence is what refunded me the money inside of the 60 days. Or just lucky....

SO>>>> Today we got refunded to our credit card everything EXCEPT the deposit. Now, am I happy I got at least this, Yes, but WHY would they withhold the deposit when they didn't sail. We were on the Royal leaving April 24 out of LA. All my money has been refunded to card but the $200 deposit. It seems in all fairness, since they canceled and didn't sail we should not be punished or penalized. I wouldn't even care if they put that in a FCC for us. Hopefully, someday we will feel like cruising again. After all this mess and waiting 90 days, not 30 or 60 and trying to stay on top of this with our travel agent. Again, it's just not right.

Seems really odd but glad you got most of your $$ back.  By any chance was the deposit put on a different credit card?

When I booked, I made final payment at booking (so no deposit). My refund is short $200. I haven't dealt with it yet but will do so.

Sorry, I thought this was just about letting people know that we got the refund.

Our cruise was going to be in October 2021.

I have read thru all Princess news and advisories, each one talks about 100% refund if you go with Option 2, there is no wording anywhere that the deposit will be kept by them....

I think in the UK it is different from US. Don’t know about Australia.
I have seen others post that deposits have been put in a holding account , which you can’t see in personalizer; some back as FCD, others like mine as FCC. Call them and ask

Ours was also short the $200 deposit. It was a FCD. Normally it goes back in personalizer or if expiring(ours was expiring), back on credit card.We are not alone, many have same complaint. I think whoever processed our refunds just  looked at the final payment made by use and that is all the refunded.

We had made final payment on Feb. 28th for our June 3, 2020 Alaska/Cruise tour aboard Coral Princess.  A week later Princess changed the final payment date to April 3, with notice that you could cancel with full refund by the that date.  We cancelled on March 23rd and were told by our TA that refund would be within 30 days, which then became 60 days and we are still waiting.  I've tried calling Princess and since I used a TA they won't tell me anything.  I have continued to contact my TA and am told my refund is in process.  I have advised her that I will file a dispute with my cc company on June 11th, the day after the cruise moved into the tour portion.  She said that may delay the refund even further, but at this point I am so frustrated with Princess I plan to follow through with it.  Princess is doing great harm to this customers loyalty!

I too like everyone else here am waiting since second week in April when we cancelled our June 24th Alaska cruise which ultimately got cancelled anyway.  Princess was really not good about confirming things with me or providing me with notice that I cancelled and would be refunded.  I was told that on the phone and was in the time period to get back everything regardless of Corona.  I had to call them several times just to get an email stating the cruise was cancelle but it still did not indicate how much they owed me.

SO stil waiting like many of you but what really kills me is that one of the Princess Cruise vacation planners keeps emailing me and called me saying when I am ready she is there to help me plan another cruise.  It really irked me .. i have got gotten my money for the cancelled cruise but you want me to book another one!  Then she says she is there to help with whatever and with checking me refund status.. SO I  asked to look into that and then I got no response.

I have never taken a cruise before this was to be our first and I have always hesitated for a number of reasons but now I am not sure I ever want to go again.. if I ever get my money back I will be stuck with a 1300 gift card but we will have to suck it up and go or lose the money.. oh well lesson learned,

We filed a dispute on May 13th and got our refunds from Princess this week, like a lot of other folks did.  I do not think filing the dispute slowed the refunds down.
