Sail Date: July 27th(?) 2020,

Received refunds for all of the "extras" we cancelled in mid-March (gratuities, purchased OBC, coffee cards, water) yesterday, predated for June 25th.

Still waiting for cruise fare and airfare. But at least I got my $7.08 back for water.

Well done 🙂 You have been lucky to get that already,  there are many still waiting for refunds on March Cruises -   and they still maintain they are making refunds by sail date?

Still waiting for my FCC for May 15th cruise cancelled 12th March.

Day 115 and still nothing....guessing the rep that went the extra mile to find out my refund had been processed on June 23rd was either not correct, or spinning me a line....

😟.  If it makes you feel better, the transactions which posted on my CC  7/2 have now disappeared.  If we made this stuff up nobody would believe us.

I won’t tell you to be patient because that is just so aggravating to hear; you are going on 2 months of being patient.   It’s a lot of your money they are using.

Based on the timing so far and when you cancelled, I would hope you see your refund between day 60 and 90 after cancelling, but it could be much later.  The longest refund I have seen so far is 111 days, but there are a couple of FB posts stating they are at 4 months and waiting.  Your refund should be straightforward.

Yup, we received our refund after 90 days.  That said, Princess made good on everything and they gave us the FCC, so I am happy.

With apologies to those in pre-pause/transit, pause 1, and pause 2 who have still not received their refunds or FCCs.

We were scheduled to be on the R/T NYC to Canada and Greenland, departing 17 August 2020.  We cancelled the cruise via our TA on 02 April.  Subsequently, Princess cancelled this sailing as part of pause 3.  On 12 May, Princess sent us the "double your deposit" offer, which we accepted in lieu of a refund on 13 May--and received an email from Princess acknowledging our selection of the FCCs.  On 26 June (a Friday, for those keeping track), we received a REFUND on our CC for the monies paid toward this cruise.  Princess had returned our (unexpired) FCDs used to book this cruise to our Captain's Circle account some time back (before I started tracking progress.)

Prior to receiving the offer from Princess, we had decided to book this same itinerary in August 2021.  Thus, we opted for the double FCCs as we had paid about half of the total cruise price in advance of the final payment date (which we never reached) prior to Princess cancelling the sailing.  The doubled FCCs would largely pay for the sailing in 2021.   (According to the presentation Princess made to TAs when pause 3 was announced, the offer applied to all monies paid prior to final payment--not just the original deposit.)

I had read other postings about receiving refunds when they had requested FCCs, so had been keeping watch on both the credit card and Princess accounts.  While the refund from Princess was dated 26 June, it did not post to our credit card account until 02 July.  I called Princess and was transferred to Customer Relations (about an hour wait on hold in total).  The rep asked me to send her the email from Princess acknowledging our selection of FCCs, which I did the same day.  Waiting to hear of the next step from Princess.

So, a long way of asking--for those of who have experienced this receipt of a refund versus doubled deposit FCCs, had you paid a sum toward your cruise larger than a $100 FCD?  I'm not usually given to conspiracy theories or finding hidden motives behind actions, but in our case it is much cheaper for Princess to give us a refund rather than honor their "double your deposit" offer.

Posting for the information of others, as I have learned so much from all of you.

Not me personally, but there are posts from people who received more than just a deposit amount; thousands worth, in fact, as Double Deposit FCC.

Personally, I think they are still in a cash crunch and FCCs are cheaper for them to issue, even doubled, than returning cold hard cash.  But I won’t discount your theory, especially if we start seeing an uptick in refunds when FCC’s were requested for the Pause 3 cruises.

We had booked the June 26th Caribbean Princess cruise for our entire family.  DH and I used FCDs and we made 4 $100 deposits for our kids and spouses.  Final payment was due in late April but we cancelled in mid-April a few days before Princess.  Our FCDs were returned fairly quickly and the $400 was refunded to our credit card on June 26th.  Coincidence or not; I don't know.  Given that it was such a relatively small amount compared to all who had made final payment we had planned to wait 90 days before contacting Princess or our credit card company so we're pleased that the refund came in less than 90 days.

Attention those awaiting OBC refund (especially WC 2020)

Check you credit card accounts!!! I just went into my credit card account and I have another credit that just happens to be the amount that was in my folio when we disembarked 🙂 This included a small "non-refundable" amount. Maybe this is in-lieu of a check from Bottomline I think, unusual, but most likely.

I really wish Princess would allow us to have the information on how they arrived at our refund amounts. I still am unclear about what happened to pre-paid shore excursions that were booked against "non-refundable" OBC. Since it was "non-refundable" do we not get that back? I wonder if that may be the case.

For our 2 March cruises Princess did send 2 Cancellation Invoices listing the amounts to be refunded (option 2).  The final amount refunded to the credit card was the exact amount paid to our TA (the FCD amount was put back on the credit card).  For our June cruise,  we cancelled before final payment (it was paid in full). We did not receive  a Cancellation Invoice.  The 2 FCDs went back to our Captain Circle account and the refund to our credit card matched our TAs invoice (minus the $200 for FCDs).

I cancelled before "the Pause". My cancellation statement included an amount that included 25% of my cruise plus fees and taxes and maybe hotel (though nothing refunded at that time). I could never figure out this amount. Then, 6 days later, "the Pause" occurred which allowed me to get all of my money back.

I received money back to my credit cards but it wasn't the same as what I paid. A rep with Princess agrees with this and sent it back to "accounting".

Yes  I asked a few times and they kept saying they didnt know and we would have to ask our TA.   NROBC   that is a very good question.   We were cancelled mid cruise and our NROBC  that we had  (maybe  800AUD  ) we had been going to book

an excursion  a bit later in the cruise maybe after a port talk.  Anyway  we never got to do that and asked  at reception  if it was really non refundable in the unusual circumstances as we didnt think we could drink that amount in 4 days LOL  HIC!

Seemed to me like they shrugged as they said no, spend it or lose it!!

I bought the most expensive camera I have ever owned  and we had a bit for a couple of drinks.

I would have expected you would have had it back into your OBC  on the  12/13 March    ( I  think you were cancelled mid cruise?)  and you would have had to spend it on board , if you had time.   That would mean that you would have

had to  be checking your account.  They refunded our Post cruise transfer  and didnt tell us,  we onltyfound out when we went to re book it.

So I think its very poor  if you dont get it back even as FCC  was it on your closing statement when you left the ship?

I had paid deposit only on my August sailing (a VERY low deposit) and requested double FCC. I ended up with a refund. Seems they had no issue refunding that small amount to my credit card (despite me not requesting it) yet still seem unable to refund my fully paid March sailing, air, shorex, and grats….

Just a quick catch up being as I was the OP.  Finally we got our money back in refund our credit card, plus money in FCC.  I don't know if I will ever use the FCC as my faith in Princess has gone completely, and the FCC isn't a huge amount anyway.  Good luck all.

Don't feel too bad as there are plenty of cruisers who don't seem to have received refunds going back to March. We are waiting on refunds for May 12th and July 15th cruises both cancelled in March (and since cancelled officially by Princess) and they have A$40K of our money. It does seem they are refunding smaller amounts for much later cruises and FCCs (they are just IOUs and will only cost them if you use them by their time frame).

Personally have lost faith in Princess to give any honesty in how refunds are processed. But ever hopeful and check my bank accounts every day hoping to be surprised.

I assume the non-refundable OBC was originally from Princess from such things as a booking OBC or stockholder's OBS or similar.

If that is the case, you will not get that back. It was a gift that you could not end up using since the cruise did not occur.

We had a July cruise for which we had put down a considerable deposit before it was cancelled by Princess.

We opted for the double OBC. I did this by calling Princess to make sure they knew that was my desired option.

I have not received either the FCCs or a refund so far. But I do call Princess every couple of weeks just to make sure that their record of our booking does still show we want the double deposit FCC option.

I am a little confused here? Did you opt for double OBC or double FCC?
if it is OBC it can be used for excursions etc while FCC can not, right?  Or did use of FCC change?
