Refund Status for canceled cruises: Retitled after merges

On the cancellation letter sent to all of us on March 12, with cruises booked during the 60 day pause, on the section regarding Option 1 or 2 it says this:

(We hope you will stick with us by selecting Option 1, and give our team a chance to shine at a later date by transferring money paid and accepting a significantly higher value future cruise credit that can be used on any voyage through May 1, 2022. For some, choosing the future cruise credit may not be financially possible, so we have Option 2 that is a combination of a refund and future cruise credit at lower value.)

Option 1 FCC is to cover “ANY” voyage through May 1, 2022.
I can’t imagine that sentence is only for those choosing option 1, but I guess it could be interpreted that way.  Did you choose Option 1 or 2.

Rather glad we chose Option 1 now if that could be the case.  Seems like a sneaky thing to pull.
Maybe call attention to that sentence in your argument to use FCC for you Feb. cruise.

Best of luck for a good outcome!

I would be curious if anyone who choose option 1 (i choose option 2) go into their FCC page and see if the same wording exists (as me) on the bottom of  the section that lists your account balance.

Again, I choose option 2 and I see this on my FCC page:

Not all credits are combinable or available on every voyage and/or itinerary.
Please contact your travel agent or call 1-800-PRINCESS for details.

I picked Option 1 and got my refund yesterday plus my Goodwill money yesterday..they applied the refund to August 1st Alaska cruise that was cancelled 2 weeks ago !!!

I am confused - Option 1 was FCC.  What refund did you get and what is "Goodwill money"?

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but the other lines are acting in the same fashion. Some a little better, some a little worse, but not much difference.

I called Princess about this and it’s sort of a computer glitch. Usually you cannot use fcc towards an existing booking but due to the circumstances they are letting people use them now. It just takes a change of booking dates. I had three cruises booked and I can pay them off with the fcc I just got . It just has to be done through a Princess rep  on the phone. So Princess is doing better than a lot of companies

So THAT'S  what my PVP meant when she had to adjust dates to apply my FCC to my previously booked Sky Transatlantic this September and Enchanted Transatlantic next April.

Can FCC be used to buy OBC? I did it once (202.13 on Sky to use up the 1st FCC received as it had an earlier expiration date of 12/31/21) but now it seems I can't on the Enchanted. Confused

The FCC we received for the cancelled cruises can only be used for cruises and not obc. This is my understanding anyway. We had some obc already with the cruises we had booked and a shareholder credit we will get so I’m happy to pay the cruise fares off we have.  What we got from 18 cancelled cruise days paid for 32 cruise days so it’s all good.

I chose option 1 and that sentence exists. I think it has always been there regardless of the type of Future Cruise Credit. It also exists under Onboard Credits.

I too am waiting for a refund to my CC for a cruise I cancelled for the Fall.  I tend to prepay over months so it is not just the deposit I am waiting for.  While I am frustrated with the lack of progress (the cruise is still listed in my personalizer), I recognize the largeness of the issue for Princess.  That said, I will point out to everyone who is placing nefarious doubt of Princess with their money, this delay is equally true across much of the travel industry right now.  For example, refunds are taking 30 plus days or more for outfits like hotels.com and expedia.

Pretty clear that "The credits are used against the cruise fare paid with Princess" Cruise Fare is a line item. Example 1: I booked a cruise with Princess and transferred the booking to a TA. Princess cancelled the cruise. The FCCs I received under Option 1 were based on the cruise fare of the Princess booking, not the discounted cruise fare I got from the TA. Example 2: I asked my TA to apply FCCs to an existing booking. Again the FCCs applied are based on the Princess cruise fare. The TA says she may have to send me a check for the discount.

I looked at my FCC section and it does says that, but I agree it is standard wording and this is anything BUT standard.  I chose Option 1.

Thank you for telling us the right words to say for those of us dealing with a travel agent to use the FCC who in turn will call Princess!!

Does the FCC need to be applied to a future cruise right away If you have some booked, or can you do it at final payment time and let it sit in your FCC till then?   I hope to wait till final payment so if things look bad I can cancel without having to deal with the FCC already on there and it needing to be returned to my account.

You have two years to use the fcc. The date you have to use them by will be listed beside the fcc in your personalizer.

I use a cruise planner through Princess so I already got a casino discount so my bookings are fixed price wise. This is why I wanted to apply ny credits to the ones I’ve booked already. I was happy with that.

I think that was there from before. However, the page we filled out to apply for the cancelled cruise credits (where we chose option 1 or 2) mentions nothing about this. The gal on the phone when I called Princess said due to circumstances they are letting people use the fcc on existing cruises booked. I don’t think they have quite caught up with all that is happening..

Myself and others have reported that we already have received refunds from travel companies, hotel corporations and airlines, etc. quite awhile back and it was no problem.  It makes no difference anyway what others are doing....people often choose Princess because of the level of customer service and satisfaction they provide and their behavior regarding the matter of cash refunds is appearing to be somewhat of a hoax as time goes on.

I got an e-mail yesterday from my TA that said this: "We could all really use something to look forward to. As we dream about getting away, I'm sending along this special offer from Princess. Rebooking now using your cruise credit will help you beat the rush, secure your preferred itinerary and stateroom and give your mood a little boost."

We have over 11,000 usd invested in a cruise that didn't happen.  We did apply for

the money to be returned six weeks ago.  Was told then, that it would be 60 days.

We checked with Delta that they refund the air monies to Princess 30 days ago.

We got our monies back from the Hotels that we had booked in though they

have mostly shut down do the virus in Europe.  No problem, money refunded.

Now, I understand that Princess is telling people 90 business days.

All we want is our air fare monies back, they can keep the rest.

Any ideas, now to get the air back would be most welcome.

Hubby and I were booked on the Ruby out of Sydney for March 21 to Fiji.  Really glad it was canceled on us due to the outbreak and legal mess with that ship!  We took option 2 and have not received anything yet.  Our TA updates us and Princess continues to tell her "60 days." I have no FCC on my Princess account as of yet and no refund.  Very frustrating!

We are also waiting for our refund and FCC and I can tell you that you'll be waiting for some time.  They say they are going in the order of sail date and ours was March 21! We submitted our claim to Princess on March 11. Good luck to all of us!

I spoke to a Princess rep the other day and she told me my refund would be issued 60 days from the date I requested it, so I should be getting it May 12th.  Took Option 2 on March 12th.

So much contradictory information out there.  Not sure I believe the Princess rep, but based on what she said I will file a credit card dispute on March 15th if our refund has not been received.

Did get our FCC for the April 11th cruise; waiting for FCC for the May 9th sailing.

It will suck if Carnival (Princess) declares bankruptcy on day 59! ☹️

That would totally suck but it's on my radar.  I would be on the hook for thousands as I have 3 cruises that have been canceled and have only gotten back a small amount of FCCs so far ... and that is with option #2.  And ... I have 3 more sailings with money down.  I will say that I'd probably not cruise again if that happened ... even if the cruise industry did resume operations.  I'd just have too much animosity towards them.

So you get the FCC for Apr 11th, option 2 submitted on Mar 12.  When did you see that?  Our form submitted on Mar 16 - silly me to wait for a week when the system was overwhelmed, and I thought we did not need to take the resources from those  who would have sailed in March...
