The Sun Sentinel is now saying that the Coral will not dock in FL on Saturday.  Further plans are uncertain.  The Miami Herald is saying much the same.  I suspect and hope that negotiations are going on between Carnival and Broward County (or other ports) like they did with the Zaandam.  Praying for all on board, particularly the ill.  The sooner they are taken care of the better.

this from the state that had a beach full of spring breakers, overflowed night clubs and over run streets that would NOT close down,  when the rest of the country was closing businesses, keeping social distance and following the recommendations of the WHO and CDC. FLORIDA wrong time to take a stand. Time to stand up and accept the humanitarian responsibility, in a situation that needs compassion. We are all suffering, resources are stretched and doing the best we can. What you are dealing with is not new, I am sure that experts have learned from their past mistakes and can lead an organized process that will minimize disruptions.

While the state of Florida was slow to respond, the counties in South Florida (Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach) took individual action earlier.

 

I hope you realize that Broward and HAL reached an agreement with for the Zaandam and Rotterdam that could be the groundwork for an agreement with Princess.

My opinion, this is what the result will be for Coral Princess' guests.  Why ought it be any different?

I agree.  The only difference I see is that with the HAL ships there was urgency to let them dock since they had 14 critical patients on board and 4 dead.  Would not surprise me if the Coral sits around for a bit until CCL and the County come to terms.

We have ill people on here as well...of course we don't know what their condition is.

Sorry to hear that.  Perhaps the fact that their condition is not known is a good sign.  Regardless I hope the bureaucrats, both Princess and County, get their act together soon.  The Coast Guard also.  Time for the cruising nightmares to end.  Stay safe and good luck to all.  Hope you are off the ship soon.

Everything appears smoothly with the HAL ships with the exception of the connecting flights on commercial airlines.  That aspect seemed to protect Florida ok but after arriving at Atlanta and San Francisco the HAL pax were on their own, the only requirement being a mask and an agreement to stay at home after arrival.  As someone posted on the HAL threads, FLL did not want Zaandam pax in their airport but ok for them to be in ATL and SFO.  Hmm...

I expect for FLL to allow the Coral to disembark they will have to file and have in place a similar action plan including the travel arrangements.  It will take time to get it in place.  
That said there is a if difference between the Holland ships and the Coral.  In Holland there was a clean line between sick and healthy.  The healthy passengers had been in quarantine for over 15 days so they were likely still healthy.  Somebody probably brought the virus on board in Argentina 2 weeks ago and people are just getting sick and they just started quarantine in the last week.   That will make FLL nervous so I expect they will require the same charter rules.

Okay peeps here is the real update as I live in FTL

1. BOTH HAL ships are still in Port Evergaldes. One has 76 passengers still on board with the virus and are being treated by the Carnival medical personnel and must stay put until quarntine over for 14 days

2. 4 planes left today. One each to Paris on to Frankfurt and London, (not sure of the order), Atlanta, Toronto and San Francisco

3. The passengers were offloaded onto buses from the ship and had a police escort to MIA and were taken right onto the tarmac to board. None of them were in seaport or airport terminals

4. The Floridians were driven by private cars to their homes.

5. When it arrived yesterday 13 passengers and one crew member were taken to Broward General Hospital. It was quick they had ambulances lined up ready to take them to the hospital

6. NONE of the above was paid for by the state, or county including the hospital. Everything is being paid for by Carnival

7. No decison has been officially made concerning Coral however the dockmaster said he thinks if United Command which has the ultimate decision to allow Coral to dock follows the above plan they will be permitted to dock. I know it is not going to be Saturday. Both Carnival and United Command has to be sure & sign off on a document NO cruise people will come into contract with any citizens here in Broward County and Carnival has to agree to the same terms of the other two ships and agree to pay for everything like they did on the HAL ships.

 

So in my opinion after looking at all of our 3 news stations I would stay very positive that you will dock Sunday or Monday

As of Friday, according to the Broward County Mayor, no formal request has been submitted to dock.  Should they, he expects similar conditions to those for the HAL ships to be invoked.

 Our late night news just spoke to Australian on board. He said 2 deaths, and they were told by captain to pack. Let’s hope they are able to disembark ASAP

Yes sadly the Captain announced there have been 2 deaths.

 

We have been told to pack our bags and it may take a couple days to disembark.
