Cruise Ship Locations - During the cruise ship ban of 2020/2021/2022

Typhoon season is all year in that part of North Pacific.  They would get ample warning to hi-tail it out of Manila Bay.

 

One CCL boss has said China maybe the first area to restart cruising.  He was not sure where the cruise would go.

Pacific Aria came in to AIS range and check in to Singapore to get some fuel:

 

 

 

 

Found the Golden Princess in the Singapore Strait on her way to Port Kelang:

Pacific Aria should be the 11th ship to join them, according to the last report I got from marine traffic Pacific Aria should join them tomorrow or Wednesday.

The new Carnival Panorama is on her way to join the merry band in Manila .She has left the west coast of USA and is returning crew members home .

A question for the knowledgeable. How many crew would be on board while laid up, presumably for maintenance. I would assume the executive crew would be sent home. Yes/no?

I think I read 100 on another thread.  Would that be too many?

Crew onboard during a layup could be as low as 1 between a group of vessels together.

Sort of caretaker.   This happens when the owners weld up the doors & no machinery is running.

Cruise ships would have more as there maybe some work going on & our ch.eng. said they would keep the AC running, otherwise mould would become a real problem.

Again every layup is different & it depends on what the owners are thinking for the future.

The 100 crew number was for a warm layup where the ship would be back in operation in a few months.

Some of the ships may never go back into operation.  Then either sold or scrap.

I wonder how many are for the scrap heap, I suspect most would be returning to service with another line if they were surplus to requirements.

If there are bargains to be had, I think there will be buyers for some of the smaller ships surplus to requirements.  The Renaissance ships are still cruising under different cruise lines.

They sat empty for over a year before anything happened to them .6 were tied up in Gibraltar and 2 were at Papeete .
