Captain Kate’s Instastory March 16,2020

Recommended Posts

I was just watching Captain Kate’s instastory and it showed her announcing to the crew that they would each be getting their own stateroom while they were out at sea (near the Bahamas)!

Also...video of the crew dining in the Cosmopolitan restaurant! I am so glad the crew are being treated well.

The stateroom assignments must be based upon rank and seniority.

Checking cruisedeckplans, I see that only 131 of the cabins are insides.  So, since there are 100 more cabins than crew personnel, only 31 people would get an inside.  but, some will be married couples, and some prefer to bunk together, and some senior crew have nice cabins already, so I suspect those insides will remain empty.  EM

Good for them!  They deserve a little silver lining.  I have always been impressed with how Celebrity treats its crew.

Is she still on the Edge?  Or did she move?

Yes, she is on Edge.  She was due to begin her vacation when Edge returned to Ft. Lauderdale this past Sunday, but opted to stay with "her" crew.  I've watched all her Instastory posts and the crew is definitely taking this in stride...lounging poolside, jogging on deck.  They are living the life we were fortunate to lead on Edge a few months ago.

Bug Naked stayed with her also!!!

Wow..a positive from a negative.

May the crew get some time to relax as the past few weeks for them I cannot even imagine.

And huge kudos for opting to stay onboard the ship with her “family “💕

Or maybe the relief captain was unable to enter the US?

Or maybe she made the decision to give the relief captain more time to spend at home with his family!!

This action by Captain Kate shows she is a true professional and the Captain of her ship and the Commander of Her  crews.

Such a feel good thread.    She is really showing her leadership style.   Such a  professional.   I hope the other Captain's follow suite.

And today’s Instastory #JustCrewIt shows how everyone’s is pitching in to do a deep clean of the ship. Way to go Captain Kate and crew! Love the music she has picked for each video clip, too.

Did I miss something? Are they quarantined, or are they self-quarantining?

It looks a small though the crew I should aboard to deep clean the ship. I hope that Celebrity is paying the crew. I would imagine it would be dangerous for some of the crew to fly home at this point? All guesses on my part.

There is no way it’s viable to send people home at this point. With air travel difficulties, required quarantines upon arrival in some places, the fact that ships are at anchor and may only be docked in port for a few hours to provision, crews would need hotels once they had travel delays, etc. much easier to keep them onboard and safe. They also want to be fully prepared for a return to service. Imagine getting the green light to do business again but having half of your crew tied up in their home countries. Not good!

Wow, so sorry for this unintelligible gibberish! What I meant to say was...

“It looks as though the crew is aboard.”

My goodness, my autocorrect was having a heyday in that post. 😳

What fun to watch and how wonderful that the crew is being well taken care of. I was very concerned for the staff during this tough time. And her fun-loving posts are great PR for Celebrity...particularly the video/photos of them cleaning via "all hands on deck."

Can someone please provide a link?  I'm not on Instagram but can find her account.  But all I see are pictures. How do you get to the "story"?
