Just had a phone call from P & O, got an upgrade from inside to Oceanview cabin for our cruise on Saturday. Inside would have been fine for a week but it was a nice surprise and gratefully received. Michelle That's great news Michelle. I hope you have a wonderful cruise. Graham. 2

This is not fun. I’ll probably just sleep most of the day away again. Hope all the rest of those suffering are feeling a little better. Well I certainly hope you feel a lot better soon , just rest and sleep it all out , take care .

indiana123 Posted February 21, 2023 #43032 Share Posted February 21, 2023 I fancied a good laugh and my daughter always give us that so I told her if she fancied pasta this week and had time we could go out one night. My treat, of course. Grandson heard and said "We're free Nan but not till 7.45!😀 Then text from granddaughter and partner "We might be able to change our shifts Nan"🤣 So a bowl of pasta with my daughter has now grown into dinner for 8. I know their favourite place is a very lively, noisy ( and pricy) but great fun Italian, so I booked it. Steer clear of Rochester tomorrow, those who live near here, which is quite a few. I can't wait, its so difficult these days for families to all get together.
Snow Hill Posted February 21, 2023 #43033 Share Posted February 21, 2023 Busy day today, my archives volunteering this morning, got notified the wallpaper we ordered Saturday was available for pick, so called in on our way to Shrewsbury and picked it up, excellent service from the decorating centre we only found existed Saturday lunchtime. Went to pick some Victorian jewellery we had taken in to be cleaned and valued, then decided to stay for an early evening meal. Tomorrow up early a gardener due to be here by 8:00 am to start the work on replacing the lawn, so will be a noisier day, with a turf cutter and rotivator going, all due to be finished by Friday, weather looks OK for next 3 days. Will start packing of books and CDs from shelves on landing tomorrow so we can begin stripping the walls in readiness for the decorator in just under 2 weeks.

lincslady Posted February 22, 2023 #43037 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Good morning, Purdey - you are awake early again. I boasted yesterday about better nights, serves me right, awake since 3. I couldn't remember the district of London where my grandson had his wedding reception some years ago, and as it was driving me mad I had to look on here on google maps and find it. Did so, and at least I got the initial letter right. Does anyone else have these crazy things nagging at you? I bet some of you do. I hope the coughing invalids are all improving, and that it might be a good news day for a change.

Often the unscheduled or unexpected outings or meet ups are the best. Have a lovely time.

I prefer my cheap casio with a large clear analogue face. It keeps excellent time too. They had watches on Iona, for thousands of pounds. Nevertheless I will spend the money even if it means buying expensive wine and emptying it down the toilet. I will NOT eat in epicurian

brian1 Posted February 22, 2023 #43041 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Morning all, after our successful National Express city break to Bath,we're thinking of another. We fly back in April for 45 days without a car so ideal for such a trip. The MSN homepage published a top 10 of city breaks,Bath being top. We've been to Oxford,Cambridge,Chester and Canterbury.York may be a possibility even though we spent 3 hrs there once, lol.Thinking of Lincoln, perhaps @wowzz could advise. All other suggestions welcome,TIA Brian.
purplesea Posted February 22, 2023 #43042 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Morning to you all, I hope everyone is well and those of you that are poorly are feeling better. Just having a quick catch up before we loose our connection as we are switching broadband suppliers today, just hope we don't get any problems! 🤞 My youngest daughter called in yesterday and offered to buy me some walking boots so we can go walking. Is she trying to tell me something?🤔 I should be getting organised as we go away next week but just don't have any motivation. Take care, have a good day and hopefully will see you all soon. Hi Brian - always pleased to help ! We like Lincoln, and obviously the Castle, Cathedral and Steep Hill are worthy of a visit. But, in all honesty, unless you are one of those people who are happy spending four hours in a Cathedral, I think you can savour the delights of Lincoln in a full day. How about a tour by train or coach, that includes Lincoln, York and Leeds (with possibly a side trip to Harrogate)?

lincslady Posted February 22, 2023 #43046 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Have to agree about Lincoln. Some not bad pubs and cafes etc. for lunch - and you might need a rest if you have climbed Steep Hill. I have to say, slightly reluctantly, that there is a great deal more to see in York, and trip combining the two would certainly be worthwhile. Maybe plus Harrogate. 1

I will NOT eat in epicurian Hi Dave I suppose it’s always easier for us ladies to spend some of the on board credit in the fine shops , plenty of nice earrings to choose or watches, I must admit I have a collection of several watches, obviously to go with my different evening dress etc and a really cheap one to go ashore while on a beach , but it started to cost a lot in keeping up with the batteries replacements so my husband brought me a lovely watch on Iona that doesn’t need one and works off my heart beat . On our last cruise I insisted he buy himself something nice , he’s not into watches but liked this floating world ball that rotates around using solar power, anyway I’m sure you’re find some nice expensive wine to enjoy 😉
