LOL,no.being the Messiah sounds alluring.I'll work on it.My 1st miracle would be West Ham winning the treble, then I'll save the world.

Miracles are not easy Brian and take a lot of practice .

As for  West Ham winning the treble, could you not start with something

easier for you .....Like walking on water 😏

Thank you Dave.   The specialist told them that he only had 2-3weeks so under the present circumstances his parents, aged 80 & 84 decided to look after him at home themselves  with the help of a trained nurse, leaving hospital staff to care for others. They live in Stockport and we're in Barnsley so the funeral now is another worry. Puts the whole toilet roll/pasta debacle  into perspective doesn't it?

Avril

So sorry to hear about this; virtual hugs! Puts food shortages into perspective. Here in the north east there has been so much panic buying that those of us who thought it was unethical and didn't do it are, ironically, going to have to shop more often or not eat.

Cruising seems a long way off now, and anxiety is increasing.

My condolences to Avril and Dave on their bereavements.

I am also in the north east, not far from Graham, presumably Happyv and a couple of others on here. I live in a large village (under 7,500 people) not far from the sea. I went to our local shops yesterday and though there were people about they were trying to keep apart from each other. The doctors surgery closed to people last week. The local chemist is now limiting it to one person at a time. The local fruiterers had sold out of eggs for the first time and only had very few potatoes.

It's quiet outside. I had a look down the street earlier and there was one man pushing a baby in a trolley, with a dog. A neighbour went out in her car, presumably to work.

Our son's girlfriend and possibly our son might have the virus. How do yo know for definite if there is no test. They have been self isolating for a week now. They are quite cheery, but bored now, they live in a flat so no garden for them to go into. Last night they said that around where they live there is lots of cars at home that wouldn't normally be there. So maybe it's all around where they live.  We spoke to our granddaughters by video phone this morning. This is going to be the hardest part not being able to see them in person.

I have lots of family tree stuff to do and researching WW1 military persons from where I live to keep me occupied. Like someone else mentioned I am also trying to do a book of my dad's family. I have just finished his story for now (started writing it in May last year) and will start on my grandparents. Unfortunately, I don't think it will ever get printed into an actual book, but still it will be in Word and pdf documents. I was just thinking I should keep a diary of how this lockdown plays or for us.

Take care everyone.

Just been to Sainsburys. Much more food, especially fresh fruit and veg available but low on bread, meat and alchohol. Social distancing was being put into practice and lots of people wearing masks. Going for a walk later followed by gardening.

I am also thinking of taking up family history research again, I've been too busy now for many years to do anything much

Take care

Cathy

It must be the end of the world.Saw a picture of people queing right around the corner for their last MaccyD.

There were pics on the website of our local paper yesterday of a queue on the A34 waiting to go to McD's.  I am astonished that at a time like this McD's is a priority, do they contain some ingredient that is addictive ?

Perhaps they will break the junk food habit and our obesity problem may reduce after the crisis is over (I'm an optimist).😉

I have dried my washing outside this morning and now going outside to enjoy the sun in garden.

LOL,cold and miserable here at the moment.SIL sent me a text that Reuters just announced closure of all petrol stations in Italy in the next 24hrs.Luckily nobody knows yet round here.Drove up the road and topped up,not a soul on the road. This is for virus contamination reasons not shortages,so could be another measure taken in the UK. Damn ,another voddy and coke run, lol.

Super day here in South Devon.  Warm sunshine.  Local Coop had a delivery today so shelves were full for a while.  Got what I needed, fruit, veg etc.  And milk from our Post Office who I like to support.  The butcher closed today, but they are doing free delivery of meat, fruit, veg, bread.  Wonderful.  So I had a good walk with the dog,, only saw one person who I had a chat with at 2 metres!

Sounds like a good day.

Went to post an important letter but did no shopping. Then allowed the dog to accompany me on my exercise walk (may allow him to do it again later if our dog walking countryside paths are quiet). Took delivery of a load of fresh fruit, veg and other staples from a local wholesaler who normally supplies restaurants which was a good find. Otherwise quite boring but necessary. Hoping only 20 more days to go!

Things sound a bit better in your area Jean. That's good to here. I've to risk a bus trip into town tomorrow. Buses are running a Saturday service for now. Must pick up our meds. I asked Boots if I could have them delivered. For a fee of course😕. I have to apply online apparently, but they couldn't  find the address. Very helpful. Never mind, worst things happen at sea so I've been led to believe.😉

My condolences to everyone suffering loss in these uncertain times - I work in the funeral industry and know what difficult times these are for the bereaved.

To lift the spirits, today has been a beautiful spring day here, and between working,  I spent some time sitting outside with a coffee, catching up with friends I haven't spoken to for a while, listening to the children playing in neighbouring gardens and missing my grandchildren.

Our local Sainsbury's yesterday was well stocked with fresh produce and even had some paracetamol.  No tinned vegetables........ except 3 tins of artichokes,  no loo rolls, eggs or long life milk, but luckily plenty of Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. Also got one of their last bottles of wine to celebrate our wedding anniversary and Dave's birthday tomorrow.

Stay safe everyone.

Here in Stoke on Trent the journey to work that normally can take anything from 40 minutes to 50 minutes average took us 20 minutes as the morning and evening rushes were not there. Very, very quiet - quieter than Christmas Day !

Yes Jean, one of the last bottles, but it was a Malbec,  and their own House wine, so hopefully they'll get some more in.  I'm shopping for my neighbours and my sister and brother in law, so fingers crossed I might just be there next time they fill the shelves!

Another bright sunny day here in Stoke so we are planning a walk for later.  I have just sorted out my craft room and now have plenty of things to do other than reading.  I have found a cross stitch that is about 3/4 done, a long sleeved top that just needs the second sleeve crocheting, another cross stitch that needs framing so a little job for my husband, lots of wool and fabric.

Just come back from a sunny Stoke walk (with the dog). Greenway from Pittshill towards Kidsgrove was lovely and very quiet apart from the birds. Absolutely no problem keeping 2 metres apart - 20 metres wouldn’t have been an issue either!

We are at the other end of the city, Lightwood, so we have walked over to Cocknage and only saw 3 people from a distance so no problem with social distancing here either.

I walked to my local shops yesterday where there is a small supermarket - I needed bread and milk.  Noticeably fewer people around and in the store, people kept their distance, including the staff behind the tills.

I took advantage of Tescos 9-10 shopping hour for the elderly this morning it worked very well, the car park was half empty, as was the store so it was easy to keep a good distance from other shoppers, the checkout arrangements also kept shoppers 6 feet apart as well. Overall a far better experience than last weeks frantic plundering, and there were a lot less empty shelves, even if toilet rolls were still in short supply
