The Pacific Princess docked in Freemantle--Perth-- a couple days ago and almost everyone got off and flew home.  A few were allowed to stay on and the Pacific Princess is on their way to LA.  Who know what will happen when they get there.

It was stated a couple of days ago, that the only passengers remaining on the Pacific Princess were those who couldn't fly. The ship is going to head for Los Angeles.

What about the 900 Australians and NZers arriving in Fremantle on SatUrday on the CMV ship ?

WA Govt has announced re Vasco De Gama (CMV) the 800 Aussies will go to Rottnest Island to quarantine and the other nationalities, NZ'er I suppose will be flown home or receive medical treatment as required.

Well why didn't Magnifica make arrangements to debark so much earlier fancy thinking they could just sail back to Italy.

Mark McGowan, the premier of Western Australia, has an update on cruise ships due to dock in Fremantle, or in the case of the international ship the Magnifica, have already docked.

The Magnifica left Fremantle yesterday after refuelling.

Overnight I have been advised the Dubai government has told the ship it won’t be allowed to dock in Dubai.

The ship headed back to Fremantle and, under our direction, is being held offshore at anchor.

No passengers will be allowed to disembark in Fremantle. I cannot be clearer.

We will allow it, we will require it to remain at anchor until the ship leaves.

I repeat: no-one will be allowed to disembark unless a passenger is in a life-threatening emergency, where they will receive medical attention.

Dubai closed its port ages ago. They always knew they couldn't go there. It's a mess that we will somehow get lumped with.

This is a nightmare. 25 onboard with respiratory issues. Why does Dubai get to say no. It was never supposed to be in Fremantle.

The 25 with respiratory issues are on Artania.

MSC Magnifica is reported not to have any issues.

That's a relief as it's a larger ship. So what does it want coming back to Fremantle?

Oh dear. The head of Vasco de Gama is upset that the passengers will have to spend 14 days in quarantine until the can go home. Except, for SA anyway, they will need to spend another 14 days in isolation. He won't like that at all. But as if we are going to risk another Ruby fiasco.

Difficult situation for all and can understand the concerns given the issues that occurred in Sydney.

Read somewhere that the Magnifca had off loaded some passengers in Melbourne to their homes and there were not many passengers left on board that ship.

Be interesting to see what will occur with the ships.

Last Thursday, 19th March, 240 passengers disembarked from the MSC Magnifica and were checked by staff from the Victorian Health Department. They were bussed to hotels for mandatory self-isolation. It is reported that 1,700 passengers remain on board. As the ship is based in Italy, I suggest that these pax would be Europeans.

can't understand when countries started closing there borders these ships and others didn't turn round and head back to were they originated from.

And why they expect Australia to let them disembark when Dubai, their next port, didnt. Stay Strong WA Premier.

Next thing the Royal Australian Navy frigates will fire a broadside across their bows to give them the message.🤐

There will be no boarding party though, cutlasses in hand like ye olde days, too dangerous.

Under international law, if a ship needs assistance, the nearest ship or country is obliged to give it. I wouldn't like to think Australia would leave ill people on a ship that wasn't able to properly care for them.

Take the sick ones off and give them care, then refuel and provision the ship and let it go.

Why aren't the Defence Force medics and doctors assisting re these ships.  Too late, like in the bushfires down here, took them a month to arrive.  No wars on at the moment, well only the odd skirmish in the Middle East.

Just in from WA - re Costa Artania

Seven cruise ship passengers on a cruise ship moored off the coast of Western Australia have tested positive for coronavirus. The Artania cruise ship has 800 passengers and 500 crew onboard, none of which are Australians. WA Health officials were on board the cruise ship on Wednesday, but authorities have said only people with life-threatening medical situations would be allowed on land.

Borders only started closing a couple of weeks ago in most places - when they were in our waters.
