Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How are things where YOU are?

Recommended Posts

In NH, our State Of Emergency has expired and our mask restrictions have dropped!  A significant amount of folks are either fully vaccinated or are on their way to vaccination.  Businesses and individual cities/towns/counties can still impose mask restrictions, so I carry mine with me, even though I'm fully vaccinated.  I also carry a COPY of my vaccine card with me in case I get questioned.

In California, our mask restrictions for vaccinated folks were dropped on June 15. So today was our weekly grocery shopping trip. So we put masks in our pockets an walked up to the door. Big sign: "Masks are REQUIRED for non-vaccinated shoppers". My husband puts his mask on. :classic_rolleyes: I asked him if he read the sign? he hadn't. He only read the first line.:classic_tongue: We are both vaccinated. He kept his on and I didn't wear one.

It was very strange. Out of maybe a 100 people in the large store, I was the only person not wearing a mask. Since this is the SF Bay Area, I am positive that most of the people there have had their shots. We have high numbers of vaccinated folks.  That's California for you. :classic_rolleyes::classic_biggrin: Maybe they will adapt eventually.

You mean like DH, none of them can read?

I truly think we really are sheeples here sometimes. Everyone here is so used to it, that we can't seem to get un-used to it. :classic_biggrin: I think it is like reading instructions. :classic_rolleyes:

There's a reason they give vaccinated people a documentation card.

All Royal needs to do is ask people to upload their card, and they can put a "V" on their SeaPass for vaccinated.  Seems easy and inexpensive to do.

Those who are still "scared" or refuse to get vaccinated are more than welcome to stay home until they have reason to change their minds.

NO sense in shutting down the industry for those folks.

Except, the tyrannical vaxxers are the threat to society as demonstrated here.

You take care of you, and everyone can have a good time.

Ya gotta love posts where the poster is the only one who gets value out of seeing their words.

In the mean time - the proven answer is vaccines work, and those who resist, oppose, or refuse are part of the problem and not the solution.

Vax on cruisers!

I do have to say that my family and I are fully vaccinated and actually went into stores for the first time without masks this week!  It felt very strange, but at the same time it was a welcome relief.  My mom and I work in healthcare, so we have to wear masks all day long, so to be able to go somewhere and NOT have to wear it was actually kind of freeing.

It does feel weird. We recently abandoned the masks for church, as well as ate in two restaurants (first time since the pandemic started) - first one we wore masks till the food came, second one didn't bother at all since there was hardly anyone else there. Time will tell. We might ALL be wearing them again in fall depending on how things go - especially with the delta variant.

Actually we still wear masks in stores.  Fortunately they also are protecting us against colds and flu. Will eat indoors selectivity

Where I live there isn't any place that I go that requires masks.  You will see a few people still wearing them but not that many.  It doesn't really seem that strange since we have never had a mask mandate and we have never had to wear them outside or in restaurants just in some businesses.  All the businesses are very busy and all are hiring.  Service can be slow because of that.  The weather is now the biggest news maker on the nightly news.

Weather will continue to be among the biggest issues...now and in the future. Sort of glad I'm getting older before parts of the earth start to become uninhabitable. I'd hate to live to see that, but future generations unfortunately will.

Where we live the vaccinated level for adults is near 70% now and almost 90% for over 65. I still carry one even though the requirement was lifted last week. My business also still requires masks as about 30% of our clients are kids under 12 so can't get the shots yet. No guest have complained they all understand and it seems like this will be kind of a slow and cautious transition, as it should be. We are sailing on August 15th and so glad to see the steps the cruise lines are doing to get back.

I just do not understand why most people are vaccinated by now?

Don't you mean why most people aren't vaccinated? I don't get it either, although have definite opinions on the subject. However, new CC guidelines indicate we're not supposed to continue to put forth opinions on masking, vaccination, etc. Probably for the best. It has been bandied back and forth enough. Suffice to say that I suspect the existing and probably future variants will play a significant role yet.

Yes!  Sorry, hope that all people do get vaccinated very soon!

I think that much of it is how and who you get your information from. Then if you decide you are not going to get vaccinated you move into what is know as confirmation theory when instead of doing private research on both sides of a question you just go out and fine confirmation of your preexisting position..

Actually, while our lives are "almost" back to normal, I find wearing a mask in department stores and supermarkets beneficial, it is protecting us from colds and the flu.  Fortunately, we haven't been sick in over 1 1/2 years.  So we now have an added benefit.  The covid levels in our area and state are very low now also.  Great when people cooperate and get vaccinated!

For me I haven't had a cold or flu since I retired 11 years ago.  Here things are almost back to normal.  We went to the casino yesterday and there were a lot more people then the previous months.  A few people still had masks on but it was not required.  They had used the slow time to install a lot of new machines so it was fun.  Highway traffic has really picked up and our local businesses seem busier then ever.
