Annoucment delay until monday

Haven't read this whole thread but my guess is:

-Europe cancelled for this summer.  I think some of the ports won't even be open by then.

-All cruises cancelled through mid-May

-MD won't be done on time because of shut down in Europe.

I think they will resume warm weather destinations in Carribean and Mexico by some time in summer.  Not sure if it will be early, late or mid summer.  We seemingly aren't getting hit as bad here in Houston and only reason I can come up with is the heat and humidity because goodness knows we have the people.  Haven't heard of anyone getting Corona from the Galveston boats.  Hopefully, it does not jump over here from New Orleans.

They know they won't be able to offer the cruises in April, so they could have cancelled them today.  They said they were going to have a decision today and they should have kept their word, even if it only involved April cruises.  Other cruise lines already announced cancellations, yet Carnival keeps putting it off.  This will only make people more likely to want a refund and not rebook.

I agree, WHY the delay?  They are going to have to do what the other major lines do, and they announced a couple days ago so why is it, once again, Carnival that doesn't have an answer.

Probably the same reason the went from "Look at the Amazing Carnival Mardi Gras" to "The first 8 cruises are cancelled" with nothing in between.

OP or to anyone... I looked on Carnival website and some other places and couldn't find this update.  The screen shot in post 1.  Was that on Carnival website.  All morning before this post, I was looking.   Is there a secret Carnival news link LOL.

Thanks.

Yes we just need people to use common sense in this unprecedented time. We will all need a vacation when Covid-19 is under control.

Until that time everyone needs to relax , take a breath and do best as we can. Is it fun, no, No and NO.

Agreed with everything you said!

My parents went thru WW2, didn't complain, my Grand Parents went thru WW1, didn't complain,,,

We all need to chill, be happy that we're OK, healthy, and in the future we'll appreciate our cruising, and each other a little more! The best to all!

I’m scheduled to sail on the Freedom on May 9. Like many others, I’m frustrated about not knowing if my cruise is cancelled. Don’t want to cancel it myself and lose out on the chance of a refund. My boss is also wanting to know if I can work that week because of everything going on with COVID-19. At least we have these boards for information and sympathy. Big thank you to the person posting the screenshots of the Instagram posts!

This is very frustrating.  I'm am scheduled to sail on the Freedom May 3rd.  Even if by some weird twist of foolishness Carnival doesn't cancel this sailing, I would cancel it myself.  Yes, I'm holding out for the better deal/possible refund.

That said, I DO want to rebook for September (fingers crossed) and have a cruise picked out that is filling up FAST using the same casino deal I booked the current one on.  The hold I put on it only covers me to Sunday night, and unfortunately, the cabin I picked is the very last on the deck I very much want to be on.  Sigh..I SO wish they'd have just made the announcement today so I could have pressed play.

I managed to cancel and restart my hold today, but that always feels kind of iffy and I'm fairly sure if I try to do it again I won't be able to find that last cabin I'm talking about.  Anyone know how long after someone has put a room on hold it takes for it to be released to be booked again?

That's from one test they know.   It remains really hard to get a test in a lot of parts of Texas.   I have a friend in Denton County and she has been through absolute hell,  doctors won't see her.   Couldn't get a test for weeks because she hadn't traveled to China or Italy.

One time, I did a mock booking to find a better cabin after I had already booked a cruise.  I found a cabin I liked and called Carnival.  The agent couldn't see the room because I still had it up on my computer screen.  I exited out and then deleted my history.  Then the agent was able to see the cabin.

Yeah, to "reset" my hold today, I had to log out and open a new browser, but I had originally booked a different cabin and on this second try, spotted my coveted spot.  Carnival does NOT make it easy to figure out how to cancel either, but finally have that all worked out.  I'm just wondering with that actually being held, how long it will take to release it.

You need to understand San Francisco...

A very liberal city that turns money away, or anything else of (their liberal) principal all the time.

They have no interest in a ship docking that may contain the virus.

Any Carnival cruise from San Francisco has been cancelled... whether it's been announced or not.  JMHO.

Let's hope it is a great announcement that all the issues with Canada have been cleared up and all cruises will resume effective April something but with these restrictions...........

A delay can simply mean that the other parties involved with a negotiation aren't in agreement yet.

I like your positive outlook but unfortunately it doesn’t correlate to what is going on right now.

So other "less liberal" city would welcome a ship that would contain the virus?

In a word yes.  Of course welcome is the wrong term, but step up to the plate, clearly which is beyond SF.  Not surprising actually.  How is that?
