Rare Sea Dog Posted May 21, 2023 #94102 Share Posted May 21, 2023 (edited) Linda and I had a very fun afternoon at the Tiki Huna. It's set in a bunch of container bars and shops in an area called the Iron District in North Kansas City. Our spot was the Tiki Huna. My favorite was the Starry Dynamo And the Saturn. Our host was Darrell Brogdon He has a syndicated radio show called the "Retro Cocktail Hour." They play all kinds of Exotica, Tiki, Space Aged Pop music. You should check them out out: https://www.retrococktail.org/ Great guy and was so interesting to talk to about his knowledge of music and Tiki. The place was packed and was so much fun. Needless to say the cocktails were amazing. Edited May 21, 2023 by Sea Dog

Thank you. Yes, we’re doing the Turnpike both ways. I’ve gotten new maps from AAA so I’ll spread the Northeastern one out on the dining room table and find the route. Dick lets me navigate and I take complete advantage to go where I want to go. Like going over the Golden Gate into San Francisco and then over the Oakland Bay Bridge to continue from the coast to Trucker. I just wanted to be in San Francisco one more time.

Granddaughter wanted to make blueberry muffins, so she did it all from start to finish. Ready for the oven. They may not have looked perfect, but they tasted perfect. Meanwhile, grandson and his friend met Hines Ward. I think he was one of my favorite Steelers, because he was always smiling. And, they both got signed photos from him. The boys go lucky! Meet Hines Ward, get a photo taken with him, get a autograph, and top it off with muffins made with love by a pretty girl! what a day!

I think this fits into a new level of crazy, in my book. So who is to blame for this? I say the idiot father. Sure, his previous ticket purchase fell through, but it was his choice to pay a scalper this much just because he wanted the pleasure of making his teenage daughter happy. I have no sympathy for this guy and I feel sorry for his daughter. Edited May 21, 2023 by derorim

Maybe it is her fans' money that she truly appreciates. I also don't think much of a kid who would want a parent to spend that kind of money. Seem very selfish to me. Just wait to see how much the daughter’s wedding costs. 1 hour ago, Sea Dog said: That is is ridiculous. I have lost respect for any artist that would gouge their fans for that much money. Believe me if nobody buys at those prices, the prices would be alot lower and more reasonable. Edited May 21, 2023 by Jimbo

I was pleasantly surprised to find out AAA still prints spiral bound "trip tiks". Of course, GPS technology has taken over, but I still like to have a map in my hand with information I don't get using a GPS. It came in very handy for our car trip down to Miami.

Jimbo Posted May 21, 2023 #94112 Share Posted May 21, 2023 (edited) After being in Virginia for 2 and half years this morning we finally made it to Big Waker Lookout. It's 100 ft high but seems much higher. From the tower you can actually see 5 states. Virginia ,Kentucky,West Viginia, North Carolina and TN. Took a few pictures, most not very good. It was a little hazy when we were there early this morning. Still an awesome view from the tower. https://www.scenicbeauty-va.com/ Edited May 21, 2023 by Jimbo

We're sort of in a holding pattern. Everything is booked, and I just need to make final payment on a few things. We just booked a duck pin bowling bar for the night after the wedding for my daughter's friends to all gather and have a good time. I've probably said it before, but I'm just the banker. My daughter is the planner. She has done a great job of designing a fantastic wedding while not "breaking the bank". 10

Rare bobmacliberty Posted May 22, 2023 #94118 Share Posted May 22, 2023 Today was a great day to go golfing. Micheline and I had an early tee time, and both played well. I had my second best score of all time (despite a $%@# double bogey on the 18th hole) and Micheline beat her best score by 2 strokes. Golf is always more fun when you play well. 😁 Here is one of my favorite views on the course, overlooking the ocean from the par 3 16th hole. I picked up two moms with their two 12 year old girls for a Justin Bieber concert in Vancouver. They paid $1500 for each ticket and the limo cost was $480 plus tip. I remember thinking that that was ridiculously extravagant. $21000 for tix is inconceivable.
