Rare Ozark_Kid Posted October 4, 2023 #104778 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Top Gun was good. It was real windy so captions came in handy. After that we went to the show. I had my traditional Miami Vice. We are finishing breakfast in the Windjammer. This time I remembered the omelet station. Right now I am getting around with the Rollator to get some walking in. Headed out to enjoy the sun.

By the time that stay was over I was so in love with them and their lifestyle that I really didn't care if I ever came home.
dani negreanu Posted October 4, 2023 Author #104784 Share Posted October 4, 2023 The very moving and very impressive monument in the memory of the Dutch Jews who perished in the Holocaust. Every brick represents a name, Anne Frank included -- As it happens, the tiny village of Ouderkerk (where DS2 lives, for now) is home to a very old Jewish cemetery (from year 1614). Turns out Amsterdam was considered "prime [real estate] location" and the Jews were not allowed to bury their dead there. There are many interesting graves there. Just one example -- there is some link between the drawings and the person resting there. For example, Abraham, Isaac &.... [on the left side], "Akedat Yitzhak" [Binding of Isaac]. Right side - Mozes van Mordechai -- Moses and the burning bush, Moses receiving the 10 commandments and the Book of Esther [Mordechai, "Megillah"]. I admit there is another scene [2nd from the bottom] which, with my very limited knowledge of the Old Testament, I don't recognize... 19
Rare Ozark_Kid Posted October 4, 2023 #104785 Share Posted October 4, 2023 We have made it to Costa Maya. We didn't dock until 12:30 pm. As most know the pier here is long! The tram brought back memories of our January visit. On our way back last time I got on one side, stumbled to the other side where I landed on a rope that stopped me from falling the other side. If it wasn't there I am sure I would of landed in the water. I am relaxing in the Solarium. Sharon got off, got some dolls for the grand girls and is already back. 16

Over 20 years ago we were chaperones for a youth group, including our older 2 DDs. We took them to Mexico City. We meet many that had just the very basics to get by. The cool thing was to see that they still enjoyed life! I believe it made a big difference in my girls, and us. In 2017 I visited Cambodia with anotherfriend. Some of the people we visited in rural areas lived in elevated open grass huts. They too were thankful for what they had. It is easy to take for granted what we have. 14

I am not sure if the rough sea has slowed us down. It didn't feel like they slowed down. 😆 The app and I believe the original itinerary had an earlier arrival. Our paper planner showed the new time. I think boarding is around 6pm and sail away 6:30 pm. Many are already headed back. I just noticed the tram going for the first time. I don't understand why they don't use the tram to haul folks from the boat to the end of the pier.

We got lucky on our last visit and used it. The first time it wasn’t running and that long walk was brutal.

You probably remember @brillohead escorting the drunks back to the ship. If I remember correctly they walked. I bet that was a challenge. I like using the one at Coco Cay too.

That’s the only way to go. When we have the Beach Club we have even had them take us straight there.

dani negreanu Posted October 4, 2023 Author #104796 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Saving the best for the end.... The grands very much enjoyed the visit to "Ripley's believe it or not" museum, especially impressed by the highest and the tiniest man, and the one with the longest nails.... Our "Israeli" son has very limited time off, and we offered to foot the bill for a short flight (4 days) during the long Yom Kippur WE. It was a huge surprise for the grands, who were rooting for him to visit. Here's where he suddenly appeared by the back door.... The expense was so worth it, just to see their sheer joy. During his short visit, he managed to teach the youngest one to ride the bicycle, a feat his own father didn't manage to accomplish.... 31

I don’t know if that is it or there is “more to come”!
