Where do you store all this?! I have an entire Christmas closet under the stairs. We have no basement and the garage gets over 100 degrees in the summer so it can’t be out there. There are 10 totes plus tree plus portable wrapping station. DH thinks we have too much at that. When we built this house they weren’t going to utilize the space under the stairs. I said no wasted space! So in my powder room is the Christmas closet door, right by the toilet. I wonder how many guests have opened it out of curiosity?

The closet is pretty large 8ft x 10ft. There on the left is just 2 of the tree boxes, but all 7 do fit in this closet. Just have 2 now sitting in workshop and 3 upstairs in the bedrooms walk in closets. After all trees are taken down ALL 7 tree boxes will go in this downstairs closet. Tree(#8) upstairs in bonus room over garage stays up year round on the table. Edited October 29, 2023 by Jimbo

Rare aussielozzie18 Posted October 29, 2023 #106729 Share Posted October 29, 2023 We have a large shed in our backyard where everything is stored in storage boxes. Our singular tree is stored in its original cardboard box. I take it out the day before we bring it indoors, set the tree up (without decorations) and spray it all over with bug spray, leave it overnight before bringing indoors. Don’t want any surprise spider decorations… 7

While I do wait to embrace Christmas until after Thanksgiving, I am slow to let it go. I've been know to leave the Christmas decorations up to the end of Jan/early Feb. After all, there are no "real" festive holidays until St Patricks Day in mid-March. Valentines Day doesn't count as I'm sure that's a fake holiday invented by Hallmark cards & chocolate companies. 🙂 Speaking of March, I once left a live Christmas tree up thru March. It was a Douglas Fir and it just wouldn't die.
Jimbo Posted October 29, 2023 #106731 Share Posted October 29, 2023 We have alot of deer that rest in our back and side yards. I keep the grass cut higher this time of year so the deer have a nice fluffy bedding. The feel safe here after out and about all day I guess. There will be areas in the yard all flatten down where I know they have been resting the night before.
mets07 Posted October 29, 2023 #106732 Share Posted October 29, 2023 We only get one tree. A real one. We buy it a few weeks before Christmas and bring it inside a few days before Christmas. Get it set up physically and then decorate it the following day. But then again our house is about 95 years old and we don't have a lot of space. Whatever you do, enjoy. 😉🎄

Rare A&L_Ont Posted October 29, 2023 #106734 Share Posted October 29, 2023 The deer in our area are out and about. This was Thursday night at the end of our driveway. And Friday I saw another pair at the back bush. This buck has a decent rack. Can’t count the points as I took the photo driving the Gator. Not the best pic by any means. 11

Rare A&L_Ont Posted October 29, 2023 #106736 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Just got home from the arena. 3 games this week for Owen. Today their team finally got a win, 3-2 and they are no longer last in the league of 9. That’s a whole other conversation. That said we have the best food optioned cantina in the league. We have the regular items. And since the folks that run it own the local Thai restaurant, we also have these items. Did I mention you can get it to go? 😋
Rare aussielozzie18 Posted October 29, 2023 #106737 Share Posted October 29, 2023 (edited) @A&L_Ont Congratulations to Owen & his team on a win! That Thai menu is awesome. Sausage sangers were the main canteen option during my son’s years of weekend sports. Does the photo you posted mean your jaw is improving? akcruz Posted October 29, 2023 #106738 Share Posted October 29, 2023 I think I shared somewhere here on CC but adding for this post, our 36th anniversary was earlier this week. We try to do something each year and this year was a trip back to Charleston and the local area. We stayed downtown, right across from the market, for 1 night then went across the bay to Mount Pleasant, much more reasonable and on the marsh, for another few nights. We have been to Charleston before so have done most of tours so this time was wandering around, shopping, eating, and drinking so nit too many pictures. The next few days we bopperd around to Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island, visited the Angel Oak a 400 year old hugh living oak, the USS Yorktown a retired navy vessel and stopped to tour Boone Plantation on the way back home. Great few days where the weather cooperated beautifully. Lots of great places, here are a few pictures from 36 years ago and this past week. On our anniversary in front of the Pineapple fountain in Charleston The pineapple fountain without the distraction The pink houses in the French district We had dinner at a restaurant called Church and Union, for anyone who the book The Art of War, the entire book is written on the ceiling. Your bill is then out into the book, it's fairly short, where you can add notes etc the book. Interesting place. Lots of great restaurants in Charleston. Angel Oak, not quite like Maui but quite large and still growing Didn't take many pictures on the Yorktown. Just this of a Blue Angel plane on the deck overlooking the bridge And one of my daily, sshh, Bloody Mary's, this was the best at Poe's on Sullivan's Island. The entry to Boone Plantation, gorgeous The main house A few shots from the Shem's Creek area, beautiful spot to what the sunset Looking out towards the bay, hotel to the right lots of restaurants along both sides, Charleston across the bay. A few of the shrimp boats, the creek is lined with them Sunset Found a feathered friend on the walk though the marsh, pictures don't do it justice. 32

I have one appointment a week with a registered massage therapist for deep tissue massage and another for heat treatments through the TMJ clinic. I can now easily slide my thumb into my mouth sideways. I have doubled my motion. Still have a way to go though. 13

I do my best to not have leftover candy so as the night goes on, I become more generous with what I hand out. Apparently word gets around because some kids will come back for more. Some will deny being here before when asked but once or twice, someone will say "yeah, you gave me 2 pieces but then I heard you are now giving out 4 pieces so I came back for more". Brazen, sure but I gave them 6 more pieces for honesty. 5
Rare A&L_Ont Posted October 29, 2023 #106743 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Last sports update of the week. Owen’s Sr football team had a record of 0/5 all season. Every team gets one playoff game, and the Sr team at his school has not won a single game in 7 years. Well, that streak ended on Thursday, with a solid win. Owen did his part with 4 pats and kickoffs. He even took out a kid on the kickoff return. Final score. One more game this week to come.

At Rite-Aid, I bought $74 worth of candy that was on sale for $50. But then I had $11 in Bonus money so that brought the cost down to $39. But there's more, I earned $20 in Bonus money with that purchase so that brought my final price to $19. It's like stealing candy from a giant drug store chain. 🙂 Edited October 29, 2023 by HBE4 4

HBE4 Posted October 29, 2023 #106749 Share Posted October 29, 2023 (edited) I used to love seeing deer in my yard. Until I got Lyme disease, now not a fan. Still, they seem to love it. I think it's because so many of my neighbors have fenced in yards mine has become a major expressway through the neighborhood Edited October 29, 2023 by HBE4

My friend's father contracted Lyme Disease when he was in his 70s. He hadn't left the Bronx in at least 20 years. For those not in the know, The Bronx is a NYC borough, heavily populated, not a place you would find deer. Took a long time to diagnose.
