I'm a bit nervous. I can’t generalize because everyone is different but personally I didn’t have any problems with my cataract surgery. No pain during or after and I was driving the next day only because I had one eye done at a time. Best of luck to you .
grapau27 Posted March 16 #117277 Share Posted March 16 Good morning. It is 41°F and sunny here. Jane @firefly333. I have had both eyes cataracts done and it is the best thing I did. Rare h20skibum Posted March 16 #117278 Share Posted March 16 Yesterday, we enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day buffet lunch at our favorite deli. Ruben sandwich, fish and chips, Shepherd’s Pie, and corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef and cabbage was the most tender I ever had. Ended up going back more than once for it. They also had some delicious desserts, but I barely had room for the Apple crumble. They had this early, since they aren’t open on Sunday.
George C Posted March 16 #117279 Share Posted March 16 Very nice day yesterday had a few people over for drinks and snacks, butler brought us a plate of shrimp , fruit and cold cuts (should have taken a picture) last night main show was Foreigner , but afternoon show was Pablo Cruise who was great they played a hour and 20 minutes. They are playing again this afternoon with Gino Vannelli unfortunately it’s in a smaller theater so it will be hard to get seats. Le Petit Chef was great as normal will do it at least one more time. Will post some pictures later. Only negative has been the casino 😢😢.

Ocean Boy Posted March 16 #117281 Share Posted March 16 I have a question for you folks about Uber rides. I have never used Uber but recently downloaded the app and started educating myself on this service. So... I priced out the trip from FLL to terminal 18 at PE at 9:30 AM today and the lowest price that came up was around $41.00. Last month I paid $25 flat fee for a cab which I thought was a lot for a 10 minute ride. I then priced a trip from my house to my office which is literally a 5 minute drive and it priced at around $35. Now, my question is what is the big deal about this service when a cab costs less? What am I missing here?

Maybe the new terminal wants too much money idk but they arent there to grab so people call uber. I've seen rates on uber as low as $10 ish one way from my hotels. 15 ish for a xl size. Though I guess prices are going up monthly.

Uber rates change depending on time of day sometimes, we sometimes check Uber and Lyft and sometimes one is way cheaper, I love we can get something with lots of legroom since I am 6’4” with a bad knee .

If there aren't a lot of Ubers around you to begin with, someone may need to drive a fair distance to your house for the short trip to your office, so the price goes up. Thats means there are times when a taxi could be cheaper. When we went to NYC a couple months ago, I learned that going from Laguardia to Manhattan is usually cheaper by taxi, since there's often a demand charge for Uber trips.

The price quoted to the customer fluctuates based upon distance, timing, driver availability, pick up location and destination - according to some mystery algorithm. Taxis are regulated by usually municipal entities which set fare rates by time and distance alone. The meter is running whether you are zooming on the freeway or sitting in traffic. So sometimes the quoted taxi price is not the final price. The rideshare prices are fixed once you agree and book. Uber/Lyft are generally cheaper than taxis for most rides - that has been their business advantage. Drivers are available to accept your ride request but do not really know the price you have agreed to. But demand and supply also drive the pricing, so higher demand allows for higher prices by the algorithm (e.g. picking up at cruise terminal at disembarkation time). A recent article in the WSJ noted that hidden fees built into the advanced scheduling feature for Uber/Lyft often raise the final price of the rideshare request to sometimes more than if you called/booked on the spot. But remember demand also drives price. I have had it work both ways. Lately I will book a scheduled ride at a reasonable price. There is usually a window of free cancellation prior to the driver committing to your ride. Before that window closes and I am ready to go, I will see what the current price for the ride would be. Then opt for the cheaper option. Using Uber/Lyft, like everything, is a learning process.

helen haywood Posted March 16 #117292 Share Posted March 16 Regarding Uber/Lyft one great advantage is you set the app up with the credit card you want to use. I’ve had taxis in Florida claim their cc machines aren’t working and I must pay in cash. I’ve also sometimes felt I wasn’t sure how secure my cc information was with a taxi. That is a great benefit to U/L.

As others have said prices vary with Uber and Lyft based on time of day, availability, demand, etc. That is odd that it would be $35 for a 5 min. ride, I would have thought it would be around $10 or $15 at most. Is there something going on in your area for St. Patty's Day today? That would bump up the prices. We usually compare the two when looking for a ride. We have found Lyft to be cheaper most times. i.e. Last Sunday when we needed a ride home from Cape Liberty cruise terminal Uber was $175 for the 1.5 hr ride and Lyft was $120 (both included tolls). 1

I'm not even sure I am comfortable... yet... putting my CC info into the Uber app. This is why I like Samsung wallet. Merchants never have access to your actual CC number.

Lets face it, you move up a lot faster when to get the more expensive suites. That makes sense. It took us 5 long cruises all but 1 was in a suite to get the 10 cruises for elite. When they changed. we would probably made it in 3, we were mostly in a sky suite. The kicker point for a suite counts for every day. they changed the system after we came to RCI.
