A bit of a challenge but safe travels so far.  We are thankful we didn't make it a 2 day trip.  Tomorrow we will travel south quicker than originally planned to avoid Helene.   App shows it adds 19 minutes.   Just seems wise to add a little time to the trip than to take more of a chance getting closer to Helene.  We experienced good weather.   Started sprinkling right when we got to the hotel.

Hey now I worked with some good Hallmark actors. 😉  I figured the show would be bad but I recorded it and watch as a preview to "Cruising with Cocktails" before Below Deck on Friday Night.

 

I knew when they cast Don Johnson it would be doomed.

Flew out of a wet and miserable Sydney for  a sneaky trip down to Adelaide for the  new Chihuly in the Botanic Gardens exhibition.  Beautiful weather for opening day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I never seen his displays overseas so seeing his talent up close was amazing.  This was my favourite display but the photos don’t do it justice.  Each glasswork was blown/designed differently.

 

 

Adelaide Botanical Gardens is an oasis in the CBD - I spent many hours here when my kiddos were very little.

We try to follow him wherever we can, even for just one piece.

 

He exhibited big time in Jerusalem for the millennium celebrations. We traveled with a bunch of friends, and made it a very enjoyable "Chihuly week end".

I have been enjoying all the photos.  
 

Today, we are watching both grandkids.  No school, but a teacher in-service day.  First thing on the agenda is going out for breakfast.  
 

Didn’t make it more than 1/4 mile from home until we came upon lots of flashing lights and a couple vehicles off the road.  Police were trying to sort out what happened. My guess is it was a close encounter of the deer kind.  We always see deer crossing at that spot. 
 

It is that time of year in Pennsylvania.

Yes, his exhibition in Jerusalem was discussed in one of the videos I watched at the exhibition today.  
 

Yes, you obviously noticed some of the 2024 artworks that were on display.

 

Fingers crossed, he will exhibit in Sydney eventually.

 

Went back after dinner tonight for the night exhibit.  The same artworks just illuminated.  Funny thing was on entry, a group of people were taking a photo at a location that I knew did not have one of his works on display.  I was puzzled until I took a look and saw one the possums living in the botanical gardens had come out after dark for a looksee.

In between the morning exhibition and the evening exhibition, caught the tram from Adelaide CBD down to Glenelg beachfront (approx 30mins)  

 

Then walked 3km in the late afternoon sunshine from Glenelg to Brighton on the nice pathway adjacent to the beach.  Then turned around and walked 3km back as the sun set.

Is this a permanent or temporary exhibit?  I loved the museum in Seattle, and this would just add another reason to my already long list of reasons to visit Australia.

We got a glancing blow from Helene last night.  Wind speeds were around 40mph, which is enough to leave small branches and Spanish moss scatter around the yards and streets.  Nothing serious that I'm aware of.  We lost power around 2am and our generator kicked on.  It's located outside our bedroom wall and is easily heard.  I tried to sleep through it but gave up and turned it off hoping the electricity would be restored by the time we woke up.  It's still out and we needed coffee, so I turned the generator back on.  Having that whole house generator is a godsend around here.  Hopefully, everyone in Helene's path is safe.

@aussielozzie18 Thank you so much for your picture of Chihuly!  His work is so amazing and I love it too!  Been to the museum in Seattle, and have seen his exhibits at Makers Mark distillery, The Biltmore and Vegas.

Glad to hear that Bob!  I am afraid for friend's on the gulf side. 😞

Video from mom’s condo in Sarasota. They did OK but neighbors will have some water damage.
 

They are higher up, thankfully. The ones that will be lower will not be as lucky. You can see the debris to how high up the water came.

We are getting those bands now with 50+ miles an hour winds and tornado warning.  Seems like storms coming in off the ocean and fortunately dying out so far.  Supposed to be easing off after 10 with sunny skies this afternoon.  Thinking of all who are in the direct path of Helene, not looking very good.
