Original cruise date was for 5/3/2020 (I should have been cruising this week), the refund was generated when I changed cruises to a 10/18/2020 new date.  I changed this on 3/12.

But they are refunded as per cruise date, and they are only on early April cruises right now. It doesn’t matter what date you cancelled.

For those who have already received their refund of the cruise fare, have you also received the refund for your extras like shore excursions, etc? If so, when did you get that refund in relation to your cruise fare refund?

We have received our refund for the fare (one refund for the deposit and one for the balance), but have not received it for the shore ex or other purchases (internet, bevs, etc).

We were supposed to sail on March 16th and we received the fare refunds on May 5th (after an intial Canadian refund glitch).

Was very surprised to receive our refund today for the 6/29 cancelled Radiance cruise. We rebooked on 4/06 for a cruise next summer and with that booking our refund was requested as we had paid for our cruise through PayPal (using our checking account). And apparently when you pay with PayPal they HAVE to refund you (can’t just transfer to the new booking). This is what our PVP told us. They were able to transfer the deposit- we have $550 invested in the new booking. I’m thinking of putting the refund in savings instead of crediting it to our new booking right away.

I don’t know if I believe that they are actually processing these by cruise date. We had a back to back with March 25 being the first of the two sailings. Submitted our request on March 15 and we have yet to see any penny refunded. Carnival shows the refund request on that date as they were called in. Yet I see others getting refunded for dates after ours.  Wondering if there’s any rhyme or reason to how they are doing things.

I had stopped checking my account- I entirely expected not to receive a refund within the 90 days, and I have no idea if there is a method to the madness. I am glad to have received the money- I hope you get yours! I am also hoping to reinvest and actually make that sail next summer🤞

The only thing that make sense is that they are batching refunds, so each employee receives X number of refunds to process. If one employee finishes a batch before another employee does then conceivably they would receive later sailings in their new batch. (Mary gets 100 March cases to process, Joe gets 100 March cases, Mary finishes hers and is given 100 April cases while Joe is still plugging away at his.) It is also possible that each group of employees is given a ship to process the refunds for, so the employees who are processing the Radiance sailings is faster than those processing the Liberty sailings.

I don't really know the logic behind why I got it now but "when you get the answer you want, hang up" (Brad Pitt in the movie Moneyball).

I had 4 reservations on the Radiance for May 21 and opted for the full refund on March 24th.  Good thing I called last week as they only had 3 of the 4 cabins being cancelled.  They at least fixed that but still gave me the old "up to 90 days" for a refund response.  Hopefully they process them all at the same time!  Still awaiting the dispute resolution for Air Canada cancelling our flights but refusing to refund our money (vouchers only).  That's annoying!

I just received my refund this morning.

Cruise Date May 9th

Cancelled by Carnival on March 30th

Rebooked on April 3rd.

I did take the obc and rebook the cruise for September but since the FFC was only for what the penalty would have been if I cancelled my cruise and my rebooked cruise was way cheaper they refunded the rest.

I also had a casino offer so I had to cancel and rebooked through the casino.

I also got my FTF and excursions refunded.

My refund went to an AMEX.

I was booked on a 4/6 cruise out of New Orleans. Received my initial deposit and internet charges back to my credit card yesterday. Haven’t seen the actual cruise refunded yet or the $1100 gift card I should receive.

That's good to see that May cruises are being processed.

Mine was on June 9 so maybe another month 🙂

Received my cruise refund today. Credited back to Amex. Cruise was April 9, cancelled on March 17. Haven’t received Cheers refund or Wi-Fi refund yet.

Thank you for this. I just got a refund today and was trying to figure out what it was - it was the Wi-Fi.

We were supposed to sail on 3/14 and got all other feeds credited approx. 4/14. What was weird about it is that the credit card said that the refund was dated 3/15, but took a month to process? I don't know.

I know Carnival is refunding based on when your cruise was scheduled to embark and not the date it was cancelled.  Our cruise was not scheduled until the end of AUg.  But it was an Alaska cruise out of San Francisco that was canceled April 1.  I wonder how this will work.  Will the June/July cruises just recently cancelled be refunded before my Aug cruise that was cancelled April 1?  Any one have any ideas?  Thanks!

Yes I believe as you say this is what is going on, I believe I posted a similar thing earlier but just not as elegantly as you put it - lol - we know all people don't work with the same ethics as others so i am still hopeful my group of 23 falls into the hands of a very hard working employee.

My cruise date was also May 9th for 11 cabins and 23 people total but we have not received anything back so maybe as someone said earlier money comes back faster on AMEX than on any of the other means of payment. All of the initial deposits per cabin came off my debit card and then there are additional payments totaling $16,000 so I am waiting for a lot of money to hit my account. I have made it clear to everyone it could take up to 90 days and do not contact me asking me about it, I will let you know when it hits my account. The problem is everyone's money will not hit at the same time as they will refund it per booking number but I was told by Carnival it might be better to wait until all the money has hit my account to start disbursing it,  don't have to do that as I will be able to tell from the amount whose money is whose, thank God.

I was also booked through the casino and I am not sure it that makes a difference as well.  I was surprised that the refund of the cruise, excursion, and FTF came through at the same time since most people are reporting this is not what they have experienced.

This is what I was wondering about.  So many people are saying they are refunding in the order of cruise date.  But that would not be fair to people who have cancelled cruises that are later in the year.  You should still get your refund in the ridiculously long time of 90 days.  You should not get consistently pushed backed as they cancel more cruises before yours.  You could then be waiting 6 months to 9 months.  That simply is unacceptable.

I am glad I jumped ship (ha-ha) at the first sign of trouble.  I cancelled all 3 of my cruises before Carnival cancelled any cruises.  I had booked with refundable deposits and had all my money refunded in about 3 to 4 days.  When it comes time for us to book again we will definitely be booking with a refundable deposit.  It just made things so much easier. Also at our ages (husband is over 70) we didn't want to take any chances on what conditions might be enforce later.  Better to be temporarily on the sidelines watching the proceedings.

I agree, I don't think they are refunding by cruise date, I think they are refunding by the date of the requested refund.
