APRIL 6 REFUND THREAD: Have you received your refund?

Sail date of 4/27. Carnival cancelled the cruise 3/30 and I requested refund on 3/31. Carnival called my TA on 4/7 to notify that I’d requested a refund.

I’ve gotten nothing back. Not even the prepaid shore excursion. I’m really trying to be patient.  But am also getting frustrated that Carnival won’t give any communication at all on this. Even a simple mass email to folks with refunds pending saying they are working on it. Instead my TA has been told when calling Carnival they aren’t even allowed to answer questions on a refund status.

May 11  cruise was cancelled on March 30 , rebooked same day with a better deal, $325 OBC and a refund for $441.90 , which showed up on card today.      So it does look they are definitely going in order.

Carnival Cruise Tickets −$441.90

I don't know about that. Our May 9th sailing has yet to be refunded. I'm sure we will get ours eventually.

We had 3 rooms that were cancelled on the April 25 Panorama.  Moved the cruise to 9-19 with FCC.  We were told we would be refunded the difference in cruise fare back to our credit cards.  1 person received their refund on 5-8-20 to their American Express card.  I am still waiting on $90 credit for cruise fare and $200.00 for Cruise Cash.  So I think the refunds are totally random.

Just got off the phone with the fill in agent since my original booking agent is no longer with the company (hoping he will return). My problem was 5 out of our 11 cabins cancelled our May 9 cruise on March 17, I received the final payment back for 2 of those cabins on May 8, however, they were entitled to the full refund including their $500 deposit once carnival cancelled our cruise but I did not get that back and was told by a carnival agent the travel agent would have to call and ask for an override of that deposit because on March 17 the option was for the full refund of the final payment with the deposit going towards a FCC. He was able to put in for the deposit for those 5 cabins and now I will see how long it takes for the money to actually be deposited. As far as the other 6 cabins go it may be the end of the month as that was not requested until Carnival actually cancelled us and I did those on April 1. The agent was unable to check on those because they did not request those refunds, I did because at that time I was unable to reach my agent. I hope this helps someone.

Just got our refund today for full fare, taxes, and fees ($2,700+) for a sailing on 5/25, cancelled on 3/9. Still waiting on a deposit refund for a 7/18 cruise that we canceled on 3/31, but it's a small amount so no biggie. I'm doing a happy dance (and looking for a beach house to rent so I can still have a vacation this summer)!

What was your sail date?

June 6,2020. So I moved it to July 25 and it got canceled too. Silly me rebooked my shore excursion and paid for the beverage package for the July 25 sailing thinking my refund for those fun shop items would come quickly.  So now I am waiting on about $1900.00 in refunds for those things. Wish we could just transfer those to the new booking, but they say you can't.

So your original sail date was June 5th and they did refund your fare?

I'm still waiting in mine. Cruise was for Jun 9 and submitted cancellation form Apr 1

Received a full refund to my credit card yesterday, May 12th for a May 9th sailing that was cancelled by Carnival on March 30th.  Funny thing is that I had begun a disputed charge process a few days before the refund was received. I called my credit card company back today to let them know they could cancel the dispute and remove the temporary credit since I had just received a refund from Carnival.

We were scheduled  to cruise Sept. 13th out of NYC to New England / Canada; it was cancelled April 1st and we had a little over $1000 already invested between excursions and payments made.  We chose the take FCC about a week later but didn't immediately rebook anything.  On 4/15 I booked us for Oct 17th out of Miami and called to have the FCC attributed to that cruise and when I spoke to our PVP he advised that our refund for monies paid for both the excursions and towards the cruise showed they had been processed but he didn't know how long it would actually take to get to us.  This morning I received both the refund for our excursions and the money paid toward the cruise.  The refunds were dated 4/13 and 4/14 so it took 1 month for them to go through the complete process.

In case this helps...

I had a cruise from London on the Legend at the end of June.  I cancelled all my booked excursions, $1100, with Carnival on March 15th. via online.  I got a full refund yesterday back to my credit card.  So little less than 2 months.

When Carnival cancelled the Legend cruises, I applied to get my deposit back, $400.  I didn't make any payments to the cruise itself.  Today I got the $400 credited back to my credit card.

I feel lucky got 100% back what I purchased via Carnival's website.  Now, dealing with Florida unemployment for my wife is another story.

I believe I canceled on March 3rd for my May 24th cruise (paid in full).  Yesterday I received reimbursement for my steakhouse reservation. Hopefully,  the rest of my money is on its way.

I got aggravated and disputed my charge with American Express yesterday. I requested my refund on March 5 and almost 70 days later nothing, so I took matters in my own hand. I was due almost $3200 and I needed to have it to make other plans for a vacation.

So started receiving credits / gift cards today.  Here’s the breakdown:

Sail date:  6/2/20

Canceled: 4/15/20 by Carnival

$1764 moved over to new booking (1 of the cruise fares) - 4/17 when I called my PVP

The 2nd person cruise rate, taxes and prepaid gratuities all credited back to my Amex and gift cards received for the portion I paid with them (to the exact amount) on 5/14.

Still waiting for Cheers purchase (Gift Cards) and Excursion purchases (Carnival MC)

1) Booked on March 7th, 2019 - Paid $718.00 for Vacation protection, Prepaid Gratuities, deposit.  MASTERCARD (Citi)

2) Paid entire remaining balance on June 30th 2019 = $1532.90  VISA (Synchrony Financial/PayPal)

3) Cancelled March 22nd, 2020 - IAW Contract, prior to 90 days before sailing date, I am entitled to a 100% refund back to original forms of payment.

4) Received a Cancellation Confirmation stating that I would receive FULL refunds within 10-14 business days.

On MAY 10, 2020, I FINALLY received a refund of the $1532.90 on Synchrony/PayPal credit card.  PayPal applied it to my outstanding 6 months deferred interest purchases until it was gone, depriving me of the REASON I use that card (essentially a 0% interest loan).  Thus, CCL indirectly screwed me out of even more money>

STILL have not received the refund of the initial $718 I spent....  (Dispute Credit has been applied conditionally since 11 April or so).

Bottom Line, it would appear that they are either NOT refunding by "Sail Date" (mine was in October 2020), OR they bumped mine up the queue due to the pending dispute.

They have until 12 June to address the Citi Master dispute.

My sail date was 4/11.  I requested a refund when the cruise was cancelled (I already had 3 other cruises booked & paid for in 2021, and wasn't ready to book a fourth, LOL).  I cancelled shore excursions, steakhouse, internet and a water order a couple of weeks before that (March 20-25, or thereabout).  I just received the refund for the excursions, etc today.  Hopefully the cruise refund won't be too far behind.

Booked: 14 Nov 2019 for a sailing date of 10 April 2020

Cancelled Carnival excursions: 18 March 2020

Carnival cancelled cruise: 20 March 2020

Requested refund via link provided in email: 21 March 2020

Carnival shore excursions refunded: 7 May 2020

Hopefully the cruise fare will get refunded soon. Will update when it does.

UPDATE: After seeing folks from this cruise getting their refunds last week and this week, I called Carnival today to ask about the status of my refund - I just wanted to make sure my form had gone through. The very nice Carnival rep I reached after about 15 minutes noticed it was an Elite casino booking, and transferred me. After another 30 minutes on hold, I spoke with a casino rep who stated the refund had not yet been processed, and asked if I REEEEEALLLLY wanted a refund, or FCC. I verified the refund request, and he had me hold on the phone while he processed it. He was very friendly, and one thing he said as we were chatting that stuck out was, "we're not really sure what's going to happen with the company, so the refund is probably a good idea!' 😳 I'm hoping he meant as far as future casino offers...

So if you were booked on a casino cruise or offer, you may need to follow up with the casino department with regards to your refund/FCC request.

Sail date was 9/08 on Legend which was cancelled by Carnival. I Requested a refund shortly afterward. I received notice yesterday that I booked a non refundable rate and they were charging me $50 and keeping the deposit for a future credit.

First, you get a refund and you're still ticked off about it. Second if your conclusion is correct you're complaining about things has delayed things for the rest of us. I'm not upset by that because I'm still working but I imagine that others who aren't so lucky feel differently.
