APRIL 6 REFUND THREAD: Have you received your refund?

My booking was cancelled for a June cruise on April 13. I chose to apply my fully paid booking to another cruise but waiting on a refund for shore excursions, internet and fun shop purchases . I was told by my pvp it may take 120 days . I received an email confirmation on 3 out of 4 excursions and no confirmation on the internet order or fun shop purchases . Should I call my pvp , not sure if she has access to that info or wait and see? I’d hate to have to wait even longer , if there was an error ?

That's the first post I have seen that referenced 120 days.  From 5-7 business days as stated in the e-mail I got, to as long as 30 days, doesn't seem unreasonable.  Then stretched to 90 days is unreasonable.  I don't know what to think about 120 days.

Unfortunately I doubt your PVP can help.  After they put the request "in the system" it is out of their hands.

Thanks. That’s was I thought too . I’ll just wait it out and see. I’m hoping that 120 days is just the worst case scenario. I realize I’m at the back of the line 😫

I received my Cheers payment of $852 today, along with my port and government taxes for my March 22nd cruise. Still waiting on the cruise fare to be refunded to my card. I am also still waiting for refunds for my  B2B May 25/June 3 cruises.

On March 31, I canceled a NCL cruise and was told my money would be refunded to my cards in 20 days.  On day 20, part of my money was refunded to my Amex.  I am waiting the rest of my refund to my NCL Mastercard.  They are now telling folks it will be 90 days.

I received the balance of my refund yesterday on my Mastercard.  So NCL has paid me in full.  It took 22 days.

On April 15, I rebooked my May 25 cruise on Carnival for October.  On April 16, my new booking was cancelled due to nonpayment of deposit.  I was booked on a casino offer of $200 deposit with $200 OBC.  I called my PVP who fixed it for now (still showing a deposit due, but the moved the final payment date to May 2).  Hopefully they will get it fixed.  I am waiting on refunds for our shore excursions.  I hope to get them refunded back before we cruise in October!  LOL

Our October cruise is now showing paid in full with all of my OBC!  I still have not gotten a refund for the shore excursions from our cancelled cruise.  I understand they are refunding money from March cruises now, so hopefully in a few weeks I will see the money back from our excursions!  🙂

I am also waiting on a refund from American Airlines of $3200.  Our NCL cruise was out of Venice and to the Greek Isles.  American canceled the Venice, Italy portion of our trip, so we were told we would get a refund.  That was done on April 15 also.  Not sure how long that will take.

I have yet to see a refund from American.  This is the one I am most concerned about because its so much and I am not wanting credit.  I want a refund.

American Airlines canceled our morning flight to London and put us on a night flight.  I called them on April 8 explaining I wasn't accepting the change.  She said that's no problem and because American canceled the flight we booked we were due a full refund.  She processed it right then.  I could immediately see on the AA website that the refund was being processed and was in review.  The refund from American hit my credit card on April 18.  Took 10 days.  I was very impressed with my experience with AA handling the refund.  Hopefully your situation will go as smoothly.

I had to apply for the refund myself, which was no problem.  I do see its "In Review" and I hope to see the money back on our card by Weds.  That would be 10 business days.

Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Thanks for posting.  You gave me a little hope!!  🙂

My cruise date was March 30th. I was notified of my cancellation on March 14th by Carnival. I immediately filled out the online form like many on here with no reply. I was notified by my Carnival agent a few weeks ago "checking up on me" and wondered if I was ready to book my future cruise as he said I had lots of FCC and OBC to use. He caught me off guard as I had filed for the refund. I told him I had filed for the refund and I wasn't ready to book at this time due to the unforeseen future on how long things were going to be impacted as far as travel goes plus I'm sure there will be new rules/ policies for cruising. He said he knew but that I could change my mind on the refund and get the FCC and OBC offered. I told him no thank you and that I'd contact him in the future when I decided to book another cruise. So it makes me think Carnival is having the agents call customers waiting on a refund and get them to rebook instead so they don't have to give the money back.

I haven't received any of the refunds for the cruise, shore excursions, etc.

same thing here.  an agent called my wife and she informed him that we had opted for 100% refund and asked the status of that.  he told her he would research and would contact us back.  still waiting for his call...  🙄

My daughter's cruise was scheduled for March 21st. She received the refund today on her credit card. The date of the

credit is April 6th. Not sure why there would be that much time between the credit date and when it actually hit her account.

The date is likely tied to when Carnival Customer service initiated the refund but DID NOT send it through because accounting had to "review" it.

For example, I called and got our refunds initialized on March 14th.  Two of our Three refunds have the March 14th credit date on them.  If you did a form, maybe April 6th was the "processing" date.

Still waiting on the third refund.  Might call Carnival next week if it doesn't pop up.

Well good for American Airlines...Air Canada cancelled my flight to and from Barcelona and they are saying they will only issue vouchers.  What looks shady is that their instructions tell you to go into the web-site and cancel the flight. I refuse to do so because I am not the one cancelling, THEY are!  They are no longer responding to my e-mails!

We were scheduled to sail on 3/28 & were canceled by Carnival. We opted for FCC but I am still supposed to be refunded for  Cheers, Bubbles & our excursion. No refund yet. I wanted to cancel that card & now I have to keep open waiting on a refund.

I had canceled my April cruise and at the time I was given the only deal going which was an FCC for 50% cruise fare and refund 50% cruise fare plus taxes and port charges.  I had a 2021 cruise booked so they agreed to apply the FCC to that. The next day Carnival canceled the cruise and shortly after I got a letter that superseded their first offer. It said I could choose either a 100% refund or 100% FCC and $600 OBC even if I had already canceled. It said I had until December 2020 to decide. I decided to wait til then because this virus is more impactful than I originally understood. Today I received a credit on my charge card for the original 50% cruise fare and they applied 50% cruise fare to my next cruise. On top of that I don’t have a refund for the taxes and port charges. Obviously I need to contact Carnival but was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue.

Starting to worry about our refund. Our cruise was March 15 and was cancelled on March 14. Last week we received refund for purchased OBC and spa item. But we are still waiting for our deposit, final payment, gratuities, and beverage package. I guess I'll try to be patient, but if they were refunding in order of cancellation, I would think we would have received more of our refunds back.

I don't think it's order of cancellation but order of sailing and I would think that you will be receiving yours long before I receive mine (since we were sailing in August). Hope you get it soon!

Cancelled my May 2nd and May 9th cruises on 3/30 rebooked one of the cruises for August, my PVP placed on the monies owed for the first cruise on the August booking and gave me the amounts owed for the second cruising on which cards they would be placed.  Have not received any monies back as of today and my PVP stated that he was unable to tell me when they would be received even stated that he had not gotten his back either and he cancelled his the week before mine.  So patiently waiting for this as well as the monies owed for the graduation trip we paid for for my grandson who is graduating this year.

I'm waiting on my third (and largest) refund.  Carnival issued the first two which were deposits on my and my wife's card and we're waiting for the third (the FCC) to be turned back to us.

I might call Carnival this week just to double-check it's in their "queue"...especially cause they issued the other two refunds already.

I guess I am in the minority with my thoughts on this. They cancelled my cruise over one month ago, I have yet to receive a refund. This process should be much more rapid than this. They initiated the cancellation. Nobody should have to wait one, two or three months to get their money back. It is 2020, technology is in place to make processes like this quicker. I really dont think they are doing all that they can to expedite these refunds, and they should be.

Dont think I want to cruise with them any more.

I understand your frustration. I was told 120 days . 😣 I’m waiting on excursion refunds only . Their computer system seems old school as I received some notifications via email but not all , with very little information on any of them .  So I’m not sure at this point if my refunds will be correct when I do receive them . I feel most understand the unprecedented times but they should be somewhat more informative on the status of those refunds . I feel that is what annoys most . They are complaints all over John Healds page . He tries to keep everyone happy but he’s one person .

I think you're not in the minority.  Five to ten business days is routine for a refund.  I am willing to call up to thirty days reasonable in this sort of unprecedented circumstance, but Carnival should clearly communicate its intentions and timeline.

Rather than providing clear communication, Carnival is simply stonewalling.

Getting a bit frustrated as well. They cancelled our cruise, not me. I rebooked the same day gaining quite a bit and supposed to get a $434 refund, but I am wondering if I will see it. If it gets bad enough and they go bankrupt we are all sunk. It's funny, when I rebooked and paid a deposit it went to my credit card the next day, but refunds taking 90 days ?  Not good. I know the company is in a bind but I really think they could do better, especially for those of us trusting them and rebooking
