Yes we are lucky that it's not quite that strict here, I heard the news story that a Cabinet Minister in New Zealand offered his resignation because he took his family for a drive. Yikes that is harsh, but if that is the rule.

I don't know if this was the NZ Minister for Health. Previous reports said that he stayed at his home in Dunedin (South Island) rather than go back to Wellington where Parliament is. It was reported that he was going mountain biking and engaged in other outdoor activities.

BTW, the lock-down in NZ is more strict than in Australia with all but essential services closed, but they hope to have it for a shorter period. In Australia, business that can continue without people gathering, are allowed to continue.

Pork Scratching's or Crackling bits, goes well with wine or beer.

So is that processed crackling?  I love crackling off the side of pork, but I haven't had it with wine or beer.  It would be better than the other stuff they serve up.

This guy has resigned

Embattled New South Wales cabinet minister Don Harwin has resigned after being fined $1,000 for breaching the ban on non-essential travel due to coronavirus.

The NSW Arts Minister was photographed at his Central Coast holiday home, but he argued his travel happened before the strict rules were in place.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said no one is above the law and Mr Harwin was fined for breaching the public health order.

I thought what Don Harwin did wasn't too bad. Apparently he was at his holiday home before travel restrictions came into force. OK, you could say he wasn't in Sydney lending support to the government, but there are phones and the internet. I feel he has been treated harshly. BTW, I have never met the gentleman.🙂

Surely he should be at work in the city or at his electoral office or have NSW politicians gone into isolation? Perhaps he needed to speak to Gladys before moving to his holiday home.

I'm guessing - purely my opinion - that as the Government had planned everything before it was made public - he was aware of the upcoming restriction. He knew when the lockdown was happening and moved. I assume he was expected to be part of the stand and should have acted accordingly, or asked "permission" (due to his status) to go. Who knows what happens in the corridors of power.

Three Springs police give Easter Bunny fitness test ahead of egg deliveries

TS OIC & Bombers footy coach Sgt Davison has been training the Easter Bunny ahead of a big weekend of delivering Easter eggs! Kids in Three Springs - make sure you're in your driveway between 10 - 11am on Sunday as #TScops will be escorting the 🐰 around town! #stayhome #fb

In the meantime, he said the officers would make sure the bunny of the moment was prepared for the big day.

"He passed his fitness test but he had to work pretty hard, there’s still time for him to go yet,” he said.

The Easter Bunny may have been given special permission to cross the border by the Premier, but that doesn’t mean he gets out of a gruelling fitness test from regional WA’s police officers.

Being in charge of WA’s Easter egg deliveries is tough work so the officers at Three Springs police station have made sure he’s up to the job.

Sgt Davison said the officers at the tiny town, which has a population of about 600 people, would spend Sunday morning escorting the Easter Bunny as he delivers chocolate eggs to children on their driveways.

Officer in charge Vance Davison, who is also the coach of the local football team, published a video to the station’s Twitter account today which showed the Easter Bunny being coached through press-ups, sit-ups and egg catching.

“We take the COVID-19 travel restrictions seriously here in Three Springs.

“The good thing is we’ll process your exception and you’re good to go. Now, about your fitness for Sunday,” Sgt Davison told him.

See,there is sunshine and light in all this kerfuffle. I couldn't get the video clip in 🐇

I agree. I would've done the same thing.  Make the cottage his principal residence and the Sydney unit his secondary home.  I really don't think it was worth resigning over.

The Vic Premier said it was OK for Vic people to go to their holiday homes.  That Premier has common sense.  It is not as if the Vic people are going to go wild when they get there. The whole idea is for people to stay in one place for Easter.

The big trouble is that he was back and forth to his Sydney residence three or four times over the period, just stupidity or arrogance it appears to me.

Yeah, I can only imagine there's more to it, because on the surface of it it doesn't add up.

You're permitted to be at a second residence and also he was there before lockdowns begin.

But there are remarks about other movements, and an overseas visitor. I can only imagine it must be based on something else.

In two days time we where meant to be getting on the Queen Elizabeth, but instead we are having Easter in New Plymouth.

That must be disappointing.  Where were you to embark?  Have you been on her before/

Regards

John

Here near the beach, we haven't had any rain since last night. Very overcast but at least the wind has died down a fair bit. Still not beach weather though except for a brisk walk.
