What will be different on your next carnival cruise?

1. Health screening. I'm hoping we can get to the point where certain people can get an immunity certificate from their doctor. They are doing that for work in Germany. That would fast track those people. Then next year when there's a vaccine it will be even easier.

 

2. Muster drill. They have to figure out a way to space people out better...especially on the outdoor conquest class drills.

 

3 Buffet. I think they go to employees serving at the buffet. I know that wouldn't be popular but it would be with me. I might actually get something off of the buffet.

 

4. Shows. I'm wondering if maybe they could add a third main show to promote social distancing. Maybe add in an extra adult comedy show as well. A late night comedy showcase in the main theater like they have on Vista class would be nice.

Could be reservations for shows and comedy clubs to limit and avoid lines

 One thing cruise ships will try anything to be safe. I am not so sure about planes and hotels.

Too many people hasn't been a problem at the cruise critic meet and mingles I've attended. I've had a couple cruises where we didn't have enough sign up. The ones I have attended we've had 3-20 people...usually 5-10.

 

Excursions could be interesting. Maybe they sell less tickets. My whale watching excursion was wall to wall people. I could see Dunn's river falls going from water shoes as a requirement to water shoes and rubber gloves as a requirement.

I’m supposedly going to be on a reduced pax cruise May 23rd. We thought of some ideas...many were suggested during a vodka martini party....really just  vodka neat if I’m honest. 

1. upon embarkation everyone will get a lanyard with purrell hoooked on it,  and a weeks worth of masks with carnival emblazoned on them. 
2. free alcohol to kill the germs

3. Every other table and chair will be removed. 
4. half the number of pool chairs set 6 ft apart

5. 86 the ice cream cones. Bowls only. 
6. elevator people ....I think there’s a fancier name for this (bellman?) so no one ever touches an elevator button

7. pop-up handwashing stations with timers playing the electric slide for 20 secs. 

8. complimentary Lysol spray  and wipes in cabins

9. employees will all wear those plastic face guards. 
10. spa and gym will be replaced by more bars..for the free booze

11. Serenity area - safe zone for the over 70/ immunodeficiency crowd. 
12. Debarkation - mandatory5 minute corona test result to get off (probably need this to get on the ship as well.)

I suspect embarkation will be a much slower process. Wouldn't be surprised if numerous stations were set up to check forehead temps before entering certain venues. Don't think the spacing idea will ever work. Cruising with only half the passengers won't be financially viable for the cruise lines so they'll never do this. If they don't have this virus defeated by August 15 and I get cancelled, I'll just wait the 12-18 months for the vaccine and write off cruisin' for awhile.

Passenger temp checks and more use of face masks from staff and the option for passengers.  It's will be interesting to see the evolution of cruising going forward.

Once there is a vaccine for this virus, I don't think social distancing will be a thing until the next pandemic.

My next cruise or flight I will watch every single person around me before the doors close. One single sick looking/sneeze or cough and I will insist either they get off or I do.

"Yeah OK Mr Quattrohead, bugger off" Not so fast maties, will other people why witness this agree with me the sick person is the one who should be kicked off for being so dumb as to think they can get away with it ?

A lot will change at first, and lot will certainly wear off in time. People will eventually & inevitably become complacent. Hopefully humans will at least set a new standard for themselves & actually teach themselves how to 'routinely' wash their hands more often; actually wash their hands after going to the bathroom; actually wash their hands for more than 3 seconds; and learn how to stop touching their face. Hopefully the largest change will be human hygiene...

I am not sure anything will change. I already clean the cabin as soon as we get in. 

I might carry disinfecting wipes to casino but hubby would have to use them and that is unlikely.

I have strong personal hygiene habits so I already wash my hands often. 

I might load us up on immune boosting products (vit C, etc.) Before and during the cruise but that is a stretch. 

Oh, I will bring our reusable straws. That's new.  We already bring yetis.

That's about it.  Really.

If not, you are saying that everyone with allergies should not be allowed to cruise.  My hayfever and I will enjoy the extra space on the ship after you get off!😎

Maybe, but prices are not determined as much by company coast but by supply and demand. If you have basically the same number of cabins (supply) and demand falls (which it surely will), then prices might actually drop.

That is a really good point about outdoor muster drills. I am a big fan of Conquest class ships but never enjoyed standing shoulder to shoulder for the muster drill and praying it would end soon, especially on cruises from Florida ports in 90 degrees weather. I think that is something that will have to change for the forseeable future once cruise lines resume operations.

1) Dining rooms - less tables?

2) Main pool - limited deck chairs?

3) # of passenger on the ship (50% less)?

4) buffet lines - people serving vs self serve?

5) Punchliner comedy club - move shows to main theater ?

6) hand washing and Purell stations everywhere

Predictions 

1) within a year, things are back to normal

2) until then, less passengers per sailing and Carnival offers single room rates at half fair (helps with having less passengers per ship)

3) possibly no more 7 day cruises, only 6 days, so thorough cleaning can be done between sailings

I predict they may put less people on the ships to start off with but before long everyone will realize this virus isn't half as bad as the media is making it out to be. We will all be back to normal cruising by fall.

I have been cruising for about 15 years, during this time there have been little price increases but I imagine in the next five years prices will go up a good bit.
