Price dropped-no credit given.

Has anyone ever just canceled their cruise and rebooked it to get the better price? My January cruise is $300 cheaper right now if I were to book the same room. I sent the inquiry to receive credit for a price drop, but they would not honor due to it not being an early saver rate. It was a casino offer I believe. We have vacation protection... and even that price has dropped to $79/person!!

Just wondering what the disadvantages would be if I did this. My PVP was also no help.

I've booked Casino rates a few times now. Every time I noticed a price drop I would call Carnival. When they did a check on their end, they would see it was a Casino Rate and transfer me to the Casino Promotion Department. They would then reduce my rate. My last cruise, Oct. 2019, I had 4 price reduction in 6 months. Saved $100 on a 3 day cruise. I think calling is more effective.

I have always gotten price drops on casino rates up until final payment.  You need call Carnival and ask for the department that handles the casino offers.  They can help you and do it over the phone.  Good luck.

I called Friday and got a price adjustment for a cruise in July that I booked for my son last July using Casino rate.  I booked Early saver and just fill out the online form and get approval every time.  When I called they said the rate is eligible for price drops up to final payment date, but you do have to call.

That is because you booked Early Saver, not a casino rate.  Once  Early Saver, always Early Saver

Elaine,
I booked myself Early Saver, but my booked my son using his casino rate.  I called and got his casino rate adjusted to the current casino rate and file Early Saver adjustments for myself online.  I've used Early Saver since it began and always end up with on board credit.

We booked a cruise for Oct 2020 using my sister's casino rate.  We have gotten 2 price drops since then.  All I did was call Carnival and spoke with the casino dept.  Her offer was good until 3/2/20 and offered $500 OBC.  Both price drops were before the offer expired so we didn't lose the OBC.  We booked a spa balcony cabin and they are sold out now so no more price drops.  BTW, we are not paid in full yet.

Is the OBC you get refundable?

Thanks everyone, trying to get my PVP on the phone today to get me connected with the right department. It's definitely $300 cheaper right now, so I'm hoping for good luck. I don't necessarily want the cash back, just credit!! We spend a ton of on board money between cheers, specialty dining, and extra tips, so every bit helps.

The same casino promotion for my cruise and same room is definitely $300 cheaper.

Don't matter.  You may be able to price match but lose the casino perks.  The casino dept has tightened up on price drops.

My PVP just changed it without problem!!! So happy. Got to keep my booking and all perks... my balance just went down by $300 since I haven't made final payment yet.

Yes it is refundable if d/t price drop.  If not refundable you can go to casino and charge chips to your card for table games and then cash out at cashier.

Great, they got an exception

Elaine.......they may have changed their policy.  I have a B2B cruise in Nov - both under their Hot Streak casino offer.  I've re fared both cruises 3 times in the past month without a hitch.....just FYI.

I have never had a problem getting a price reduction on a casino rate as long as it was before final payment. Done it many times. Don't believe they made an exception because that is what I have been told.  But you do have to call the casino department.

Glad you got a cheaper rate!!
