So exactly how much money do you have tied up right now with bookings?

None, We are avid cruisers and took advantage of the 125% FCC and then found a fantastic cruise overseas and also got a 30% discount, YES, 30% discount on the cruise with multiple perks.  This route is not good for everyone.  I have friends that say all they want is their money back, never gonna cruise again and for one couple it was gonna be their 1st cruise.  Hey, if people don't want to cruise anymore, that's okay with us, it's your enjoyment you'll be missing.  If you take the FCC and book more cruises, some airlines have great deals for overseas.  We booked USA west coast to Europe, 1st, YES First Class for only 46,000 miles, this can't be beat.  Think really hard before asking for your refund.  Some people think, what happens if the cruise line goes bankrupt?  If you are inexperienced and used anything other than a Credit Card, you may lose your money, but the smart people who used Credit Cards, you will always get your money back from your bank.    Good luck and happy sailings are in our future:-)

About $8000 in cancelled cruises after final payment and still waiting for refunds.  Have 5 more booked into 2021 with the next final payment due mid June.  Really don't want to add more money to the pot so don't know what I will be doing with the future cruises.  Cancel and lose deposit (NRD) or transfer to a later date?  A couple were purchased on board so $200 deposit.

Sure it can be non.  We're not expecting a refund, we already booked the cruise for January, used the FCC, so we aren't expecting anything back.  The FCC took care of our deposits with money left over so the final payment won't be as much.  The fantastic "deal" we got on the new cruise was amazing, because we used Future Cruise Deposits purchased on NCL's Joy last summer.  On the Joy, there was a special, if you purchased a $250.00 FCD, they gave you a $250.00 FREE FCD.  To explain further, if you gave the cruise line $250.00 you received $500.00 in cruise fare.  That's a 100% investment.  The deals are out there if you take advantage of them.  Some people say it's not worth their time, to each their own.  Right now, the 1st class air we got from the west coast to Europe at 46,000 yesterday, the same flights are 60,000 miles today.  Snooze and lose, that's what they say:-)  Happy sailings to all soon:-)

FCC are there for the taking immediately.   Refunds are taking up the time.

My FCC isn't there for taking yet and my April 16th cruise was announced cancelled about 30 days ago now.  I called in roughly 3 days ago to have it applied....but alas....not ready yet.

You may have been talking to an "outside sales agent" or someone who just didn't want to do the legwork?  We never take the first person we speak to when we think they are not in the know or just are not correct.  Did you book your cruise through a travel agent or directly with the cruise line.  If you used a travel agent, the cruise lines really don't want anything to do with you, you go through your travel agent, that's the deal.  And some travel agents have never been on cruises, they have walked on board cruise ships and think they are experts.  If you booked directly with the cruise line, give them another call, be firm and tell them what you want.  Our April 19th cruise that we used the FCC with NCL was only cancelled about 3 weeks ago.  Cruise lines are eager for you to use your FCC and get you booked on another cruise instead of a refund.  You got some bum information.

If your cruise that was cancelled was in this last round of cancellations from this week (cruises leaving on or after May 12th)...the estimated time you will receive your FCC from RCI via email, is May 22nd.  NOT "immediately".   I booked direct with RCI online.  This was in the email they sent me, and is listed online with RCI.

You may want to clarify your statement as such, since it is confusing for some.

You can't compare what NCL is doing with what Royal Caribbean is doing.

Never thought I would see you post these comments about being firm when you call the cruise line. There is no one firmer than I talking to  a cruise line agent especially when it comes to finances. Bottom line is that right now, cruise lines don't want to release cash refunds easy and are giving priority to refunds involving mostly FCC's. That's no problem to the cruise line as it involves future business without having to disburse cash refunds. You know me personally and know what I'm talking about. I'm still waiting for my $7700 plus refund from Princess for a cruise that was cancelled on March 10th. Upon my cancellation, they went ahead and immediately refunded ($670) to my credit card, the portion of the taxes and port charges ONLY. They could have processed the entire cancellation at that time by refunding the complete amount  on the reservation at the "click" of a button, just the same way they do it when you book a cruise over the phone with a credit card. Basically, I got caught in their game plan of preserving their 'Cash Flow' for a bit longer so they are able to sustain operations. SO now I must wait until they decide to refund the balance of my cancellation which amounts exactly to $7657.70. I'm very good with numbers. As far as FCC's is concerned, the cruise line has offered us the full refund plus a 25% FCC to be used on a future booking. We will use that FCC next year when we see how things develop in the industry and what changes will be made to regulate the industry. You can rest assured that It will not be business as usual and there will lots and lots of changes. So if we feel that we are not satisfied with the changes, then we'll turn to a different way of travel and enjoyment. In the meantime, we continue to wait for our $$$$$$$ refund . Hasta La Vista Amigos !!!

Hopefully as you wait there will be the same or better discounts on cruises and air fare.  All I know is I got what I got, if prices go down I'll get them adjusted, but as you well know, that's not always the case.  I'm happy with the prices and especially the air for 1st class and business class.  And yes, the cruise lines are catering to FCC people, that's sad, but that's the way it's going.

I had 2 Club Royale cruise offers. Cancelled right when all this mess started in mid March. Between the 2 I have $900 tied up, not a lot from what I'm seeing. I've called 2-3 times and was told you should see it, it has been processed. Checked credit card daily, nothing there. Oh, and I booked another leaving on Halloween with a great casino offer, another $117 tied up. Won't book anymore till I see some credits.

If you can afford a cabin higher than a junior suite, then you can certainly  afford the consequences that go along with it.

That is being a bit glib, isn't it? For some, it may be a trip of a lifetime with a great deal of saving and sacrifice.

Issued, yes indeed "issued," but if you had a cruise to book "right now" could you!

I don’t think it’s glib. I agree with @SNJCruisers comment. Even if someone is saving and sacrificing, the assumption is that person was able to save enough money to take the vacation at the price they booked it at, and that the cost of the vacation isn’t going to break their bank.

They booked a higher cost room, knowing there were less expensive and less restrictive options, knowing also that they were agreeing to forfeit the deposit (or at least part of the deposit) if their plans changed or something unforeseeable occurred that caused them to want or need to cancel.

My assumption is that anyone willing to do that can afford to do so, otherwise, they’re making poor decisions with their money. It doesn’t matter if it’s a once in a lifetime trip, if you can’t afford it, you shouldn’t risk it. People can get mad about that all they want, but it’s the truth. If someone spent money they couldn’t afford to be without for 90 days if they lost their job, then they  don’t have enough money in their savings account to be taking expensive vacations. I realize a lot of people do that anyway and live on credit and what not, but don’t start crying and whining about how you can’t pay your bills because your refund isn’t coming fast enough and expect everyone to feel sorry for you or be understanding.

Now, people being upset that RC is taking so long with their refund because they don’t think it’s right, that’s another story. People freaking out because they can’t afford the wait, well, that’s another...

Interesting...one thing I haven't noticed on this thread is anyone saying they can't pay their bills because of a refund that may or may not be coming. Perhaps I missed it.

I hope you and your family, as well as all on this chat, are staying well.

Wow.  So no chance that maybe people were in a position to easily afford something 90 days ago that may be experiencing significant economic distress right now in the current client that could really really use a refund for something that was cancelled on them but haven't seen it yet.

I've been working essentially for free for 6 weeks now because my clients, just like RCCL, have decided that paying out cash to anyone is a bad idea so my invoices go into a black hole and past due.  Lucky for me....I do keep money in the bank and can weather it....but there are 20+ million other Americans who aren't weathering it well right now.  Some families are functioning with BOTH earners unemployed or with reduced salaries which makes it really really hard if you had reserves in the bank if BOTH incomes are impacted and the best you 2 can come up with is "screw 'em" because they chose to pay for a higher priced vacation that has NRD associated with it and the refund from RCL is way past industry accepted norms (and written policies previously) 😉 😉 😉

Really is cold.

Maybe RCCL should take note (and the rest of us)....Delta has been doing the same crap playing games with refunds and is not slapped with a class action lawsuit

If link works: https://www.foxnews.com/travel/coronavirus-cancellations-delta-air-lines-lawsuit-class-action-refunds
