We listened to the directions from the carriage driver about a good place to purchase chocolate and still wound up here .

And there is was - Chocolate sea shells ! Who can resist Chocolate sea shells ?

After going inside , we purchased all of our Chocolate needs - in just one place !

DSC05771_zpsrnk1x9yf.jpg

As we hurried back to our agreed meeting point , we thought that we might have time for a quick lunch .

IMG_9031_zpsbxd7zinz.jpg

And , so what will it be ? Mussels and fries , waffles ?

IMG_9032_zpsanc6esju.jpg

The place under the green awning actually had some good prices on sandwiches .

In the final assessment , Bruges was beautiful in the sunlight ! However , we had hoped to spend more time there as our 5 hour tour allowed only 3 -1/2 hours from exiting the bus to being back on the bus . We wished that we had car pooled in a taxi , like some members on our CC Roll call had done . Bruges also quite difficult for those who have mobility challenges .

We love the organization and professionalism found here in Southampton

IMG_2739_zpsvsyzt8ld.jpg

And for that reason we would be using the Executive Connection with Scott as our driver and Sebastian as our guide again .

We had done this same tour after completing a TA on the Eclipse with Gracie115 in 2015 who had arranged it . We liked it so much that we repeated it again , with 4 other couples this time who we dropped at the airport before returning to the ship . Our first scheduled stop was Salisbury Cathedral , but we pulled over before reaching Salisbury . It was a beautiful day for a walk by this river

There is a hotel here and parts of it date back to 1250 !

And a view across the meadows of the cathedral

Looking and walking across the meadow reminded me of an old Pink Floyd song  Grantchester Meadows :

Salisbury is a medieval city with a number of interesting buildings . This is the church of St. Thomas of Canterbury ( Thomas Beckett ) .

We entered a narrow street under a stone arch and could see the cathedral's spire

The Salisbury Cathedral

IMG_284620Stitch-001_zpswt4z3hoy.jpg

Description from h2g2 :

Salisbury Cathedral is unique in Britain in that, following the first three foundation stones being laid by Bishop Poore on 28 April, 1220, it was completed within a single generation, unlike other cathedrals which evolved gradually over centuries, with constant additions and renovations. As a result, it has an aesthetic unity of design which adds to its beauty.

At 404 feet, the spire is the tallest in England, and is visible from every approach to the city. It was added 100 years after the cathedral's consecration and its immense weight - some 6,000 tons - meant much strengthening was required.

Old Sarum is the site of the earliest settlement of Salisbury in England. Located on a hill about 2 miles (3 km) north of modern Salisbury near the A345 road, the settlement appears in some of the earliest records in the country. It is an English Heritage property and is open to the public.

When we first visited Stonehenge , the facilities consisted of a parking lot , some necessary rooms , a tunnel under the highway and the stones .

In 2014 a new visitor center opened with a gift shop , bathrooms , cafe , an exhibition hall , car park and a staging area for the shuttle bus .

When we stopped at the park , Sebastian went to purchase ticket and rent auto guides , but seeing this Rapeseed field - I bolted across the road like a streak of lighting to capture it before the light could change !

If you see a photo - Take it now ! Because it may not look the same later .

After the shuttle ride - there it was !

IMG_7932_zpsyggtc4iz.jpg

It's a very open area where sheep can graze

IMG_5364_zpswgprknck.jpg

and helicopters can soar overhead .

It's been very cool and windy both times that we went to Stonehenge , so DW and I headed back early for a cup of tea and soup to try to warm a sore throat . When the group had fully assembled we boarded the van for our next stop Windsor Castle .

Look after that sore throat, don’t let anyone think it’s the dreaded CV😳😳

Stonehedge is still on my bucket list, if I hadn’t missed my EZ Air flight for this cruise we could have joined you 😂

luckily I have a cruise booked out of Southampton next year.

Thanks will do . We think it just a sore throat for me and sinuses for Pat . We get it in the Spring with the cool and windy blowing the pollen around .
