11 Year Old in MDR

I am at a loss for what I should encourage my going to be 11 year old daughter to wear in the main dining room.  Anyone have any suggestions?

It would depend on the dress code of your cruise line. I see no reason an 11 year old would need special treatment.

My 11 year old daughter wore mostly jump suits and dresses on our last cruise.  We were on royal and had two formal nights and the rest smart casual.  We were also on over Christmas, so it was a little dressier.  What cruise line?

She doesn't want to wear dresses and skirts.  I have encouraged her to wear some nice leggings, shirt, and a nice sweater.  I'm hoping that'll work.

That should work.  No pressure for a dress/skirt.    EM

Decent slacks or jeans, top, shoes....that should do it.  A skirt or "short" will also work.  None of the cruise lines are super fancy anymore.

My daughters wear sun dresses sometimes, or just a pair of black pants and a shirt normal nights.  On formal night they dress up a bit more.  We are not a fancy family.

Unless you are on Cunard, I don't think the cruise lines will object as long as she looks nice.  Even cunard was remarkably patient with me wearing an ordinary day dress on formal night, despite the fact that many other cruisers were in actual formal wear, even in the buffett.  But I had to shlep so much stuff across the atlantic to take a 2 and 6 year old on a cruise to Norway that I couldn't pack more than one dress and it needed to be easy to clean since I would wind up wearing food eventually.
