@JPH814  Don't know if you want to add this to the second list but I requested a refund of the two remaining Future Cruise Deposits ($500 each, just sitting in our Seabourn Club accounts since they were purchased in August of 2017 for future use) on 3/24/20 and have seen nothing to date.

on a side note, I just received word from Allianz that my trip insurance premium was fully refunded.  If you had insurance, check to see if you are eligible for a refund.

I claimed a refund from my Insurance Company (£313.96), as I had arranged for it to start just before my flight.

It was initially refused, as I had bought it in December, to start in March. After saying that I was going to refer it to the Insurance Ombudsman in the UK, it was escalated and a refund agreed two days alter, minus £ 30 Admin Fee.

Seabourn have accepted my claim for the deducted amount.

Scheduled Sailing: Seabourn Encore 22nd March 2020 for 26 nights @ £ 18,888.36

We cancelled: 27th February, 2020

Seabourn Cancelled: 9th March, 2020

1st Promised Refund: 14 Working Days

2nd Promised Refund: 60 Days from when Seabourn Cancelled = 9th May, 2020 (Seabourn specified the date).

Today is Day 61, no refund & no FCC showing on their system.

Even though it was us who cancelled, it was because Seabourn had to significantly modify our itinerary and gave us the option of a refund. Their e-mail of 9th March offered us 100 % Refund PLUS 25 % FCC, which we accepted.

Like others, we will not rebook until we have the refund.

Hello JPH (original poster), thanks so much for your efforts! Just seeing this thread today, please add us to the list:

Scheduled sailing Sojourn, Alaska, r/t Vancouver, May 31, 2020 (12 days),booking included r/t biz class air to/from Vancouver, arrival May 30th.

Seabourn finally cancelled the cruise on April 14th. TA requested cash refund that same day. Form letter from SB advising of the two options, FCC or cash refund, advised that  "processing your election of option 1 or 2 may take up to 60 days as our team works through each booking."  NB: no mention of "business days", and "up to" 60 days signifies to me that this is the outside date.

Not yet halfway through that 60 day timeline, we have received nothing yet.

Here is mine

Sailings on Encore on March 22 and April 17 cancelled by Seaborn email on 9 March. Email promised full refund + 25% FCC.

Nothing received up until now, BUT I advised them about ten days ago that I was intending to file Section 75 claims ( similar to a dispute) with Amex, and they replied that that would only delay matters even further, and that it was "likely" that my refunds would be made by the end of this coming week ie 5/15 or the beginning of the following week. So I am waiting to see if that happens.

Believe that is simply a scare tactic to stop the Section 75/dispute.  As I understand Section 75 they only have 14 days to refund  ao you will immediately get your credit on your credit card as disputing does here in the US.  Am aware of quite a few people who have done Section 75 and disputes and that quickly gets them at least a temporary credit and puts a limit how long the cruise line can hold them money as if Seabourn does not respond withing a certain amount of time the credit becomes permanent no matter what Seabourn subsequently does.

Myself was told my refund would be coming two and a half weeks ago so I waited another week and the TA checked and they had added another 3 weeks to when the credit would come.  This was the fourth delay so decided best to put the charges in disputes and the credits are now there on my account.

Likewise @JPH814.  If you decide to add FCDs to the list:
Refund request April 10.  Advised up to 90 days to receive funds

I also have a bunch. My travel agent was told they wouldn’t refund the FCD

I was scheduled to sail:

May 23, 2020

SB canceled:

April 14, 2020

I requested a refund a few days later via the link they included with the cancellation email.  I was not provided a confirmation email of my selection of a refund and  have not heard anything since.  I'm a bit nervous that when I get to my 60 day supposed refund date that they issue me future cruise credits as I have no documentation of my election of a refund.  FCC is the default if you don't contact them by June 1st.  Very frustrating.

Thanks so much for doing this JPH814.

One error as to my extra air to Auckland. I requested it on 2/27/20.

Thanks

Why not contact your TA or SB as you have till June 1 to make sure that they have your proper request.

Exactly - what you need now is a "Personal Cruise Refund Consultant for Seabourn" rather than one for future booking.

Clearly shows where their emphasis is.

I am a "glass half full" kind of guy:  This email is encouraging because it shows they want to be an ongoing business and are not about to declare bankruptcy and prohibit us from getting our money back

Orrr--from a glass half empty perspective maybe they want us to send them some more deposits 🙂

I was sitting here going through my charges and I had actually forgotten that SB did not refund the payments for the shore excursions when they sent out that flurry of emails in April.  Looking back at the emails they did in fact have the 60 day qualifier.  Also I discovered they left out for refund a 5-29 shore excursion to Bordeaux I had booked.  I think I'm going to call them to get this corrected and to make sure I'm scheduled for a trip refund and not FCC as I have no documentation of my choice.

Here's the latest update folks.

A couple of people have provided information regarding their requests for refund of Future Cruise Certificate.  Please allow me to clarify what (I think) this does and does not refer to:

A Future Cruise Certificate is a certificate you purchase from Seabourn while on a cruise.  It allows you to use the certificate as a deposit for a future cruise and provides a 5 % discount on the cruise when it is used.  It is not to be confused with a Future Cruise Credit.  A Future Cruise Credit is the "deal" that Seabourn offered in lieu of refund. providing the customer with a credit toward a future cruise, usually 125% of the amount of the cancelled cruise.

I hope I got this right. And I Assume that Zelker and Mighty Quinn are referring to the Future Cruise Certificate and not a Future Cruise Credit.

Yes but first things first. Showing respect and placing confidence in their clients would do more for loyalty than offering future bookings. Otherwise it's like throwing good money after bad.

You have the concept correct ... but it's actually called a Future Cruise Deposit (FCD) and not a Future Cruise Certificate. Using FCD avoids any double FCC confusion!  Thanks so much for doing this.

JMO.

And in addition since the Cruise With Confidence page went away when cruises were cancelled out thru October/November, and the nomenclature was on the email decided to phone Jorge and see what gives as having to book FCC's by the end of 2020 and only for 2020 or 2021 cruises the limitation is closing rapidly.  Asked Jorge about the missing page and first he lead me to believe that he had gotten a memo over the weekend and that the page was being revised and would be back up shortly.

He then offered to contact someone to get me the details.  After almost 10 minutes came back and said nobody was answering the phone.  He then under questioning revised what he said about a memo and said he heard about the missing page from a friend who thought the page would be back up shortly.  Nothing official or anything so have to hope there will be more time to book with the FCC that was originally promised automatically 35 days ago.

While I am glad I have temp credits on my credit cards my trust with all cruise lines is quickly going away.  Looking at the spredsheet and all the long waits just for those here on CC which is probably less than 5% of the customers awaiting money does not endear me to Seabourn or any other cruise line because of lie after lie after lie.  Would probably bet that most of the people waiting have had their refunds and FCC's completed and on hold with handing out the money/FCC's.  Kind of like hording money.  And they think we are dumb enough to send good money after bad to book more cruises.

When (if?) people on the spreadsheet start getting refunds, it would be interesting to know whether they had asked for a charge back on their credit cards. If you’d rather not include this on the spreadsheet, jph814, I understand. I know you want to keep things simple. Perhaps any individual who did file a dispute with his or her credit card company could post this fact when they get the refund.

My sister and I are still debating whether to file a dispute wit our credit card issuers or wait 60 calendar days before doing so.  In researching the pros and cons of this, I read an article at www.Elliott.org, a consumer advocacy website, which recommends using a credit card charge back as a last resort, saying it can cause additional roadblocks to receiving a refund.  It did not elaborate what those roadblocks might be.
