After refund fiasco, why would you ever consider Royal again?

Nasty, horrible people.

You want the cruise lines to go bankrupt, therefore I will lose my non refundable suite deposit on 4 cruises.

Thanks for caring.

Imagine missing out a product you like because you were mildly inconvenienced on waiting on a refund during a pandemic. That takes a special kind of person.

Quite the contrary.

This is a cruise board, right? The majority of people here are older, cruise fanatics who’ve literally shelled out 10’s of thousands to perhaps 100’s of thousands to cruise lines over the years/decades.

How naive would one be to think the majority of this group would be disgruntled at RCI because of their incompetence at managing a refund process? Many of you’ve given RCI buckets of cash, so you’re jaded to my experience and opinion.

Thats would be akin to going to a Disney Parks fanatics board and bashing Disney for their handling of their refund process. Disney fanatics don’t want to hear it. Talk to the hand!

What y’all fail to understand is the significant danger these cruise lines are in without a vaccine for covid19. Some of y’all pass of the significance of the danger as - great don’t cruise - lower prices for me. How incredibly stupid is that?

Sadly, even more of you are clearly willing to risk your own lives to cruise again. How completely insane is that? You’re either ignorant to the facts or believe some magical fairy is going to stop the pandemic soon.

Cmon man.

Actually, if you can weed through the judgement and name calling, this is probably the best post you've made regarding the delay in refund and corporate policy/competency.  IMO

A quick scan of the boards will reveal that many of us are not wearing rose colored glasses when it comes to the future of the cruise lines, the pandemic, heck, life as we know it.

And plenty of people are angry about not getting their refunds in a timely manner...across all lines.  In fact, I would venture a guess that if your tenor towards others were less combative, you might find that most people agree with you, myself included.  (With the exception of the bankruptcy part.  That hurts everyone waiting on a refund.)

Buckets of cash?  Yes.  Jaded to your experience and opinion?  Absolutely not.  Jaded to the polarization that arises as a result of having a slightly different take on the big picture.

Is this not a good time to bring up the fact that RCI has not yet sent me the crystal block they owe me from my cruise this past January on Adventure?🤨😯🤔

Theres a global pandemic. With no slowdown in cases.

Anyone willingly shelling out cash to cruise lines should understand they’re risking what they pay.

God Bless.

I agree. What a nasty company to deal this with.

Wow, I'm not sure how to respond to a post like that. you want the cruiseline to go bankrupt? What about their employees and their families and travel agents and the many other hospitality sectors that rely on cruise business . All because you can't seem to get a refund in "Your time frame". In the interest of full disclosure, my wife is a travel agent (she owns her own home based travel agency) she is the one who actually is spending hours on end cancelling cruises, arranging refunds, re-booking customers for cruises at a later date. Yet we both can''t wait to go on our next cruise, whenever that would be. Next time, when you post please think about others who may be impacted by your "HOPES".

PS. You might want to change your screen name to Uncool Cruiser.....

Think about how much time you and your travel agent spent simply trying to get your money back. How many calls did you make?

Why would anyone do business with a company like that again? I certainly won’t.

I’ll find more joy doing other things with my money.

I had absolutely no problem nor have I ever with Royal .Would you expect your negative reaction to be different on any other cruise line ?

I have cruised on 6 different lines and Royal has always been great.

When I shared my initial opinion, which includes the hope that RCI goes bankrupt that’s when some of y’all lost your minds.

Anyone who in the last 2 months paid money to a cruise line is literally putting their money at risk. It’s why I made the Madoff reference yesterday.

The future of any cruise line is completely unknown.

You know it's Ironic, the negativity towards everyone's opinion and name calling was started by OP. A Member said they enjoyed Royal as a product and OP said "There is a Sucker born everyday" Then over and over wishing Royal go Bankrupt knowing Cruisers could loose their money OP still piled on

Facts:

-We’re at the beginning of a global pandemic with no end in sight.

-Cruise lines have an elevated risk of spreading respiratory illness.

-To date there have been 2791 cases and 76 deaths linked to cruise ships.
-People age 65 and above are at a higher risk for complications due to covid19.
-To date nobody knows when RCI sails again. What capacity will be. Will those at higher risk be allowed to sail.
-Nobody knows how long this pandemic will last and if RCI can survive without declaring bankruptcy.
-The President of the United States asked if using disinfectant internally can help people

w/ covid19.

Thank you.

Losing my cruising money is the least of my worries if the lines go bankrupt. I wouldnt admit how much cruising stock I own, but it's more than the minimum 100 shares. Anyone who would wish rcl to go bankrupt is a have not more than likely. Some of us are invested. Why anyone would wish people to lose their retirement funds is beyond my comprehensive.  I think this virus is making people want to live up to the later part of the name.. cruise CRITIC.

Facts:

True but there are hopes that a vaccine will be developed within the next 18 months. Hopeful thinking but based on history, it's more than likely a vaccine will be developed.

-Cruise lines have an elevated risk of spreading respiratory illness.

So do airports, casinos, stadiums, theme parks, etc. etc.

-To date there have been 2791 cases and 76 deaths linked to cruise ships.

And how many thousands can be attributed to airports.  We'll never know because people didn't get sick right away but I'm willing to guess more than cruise ships.  The cruise lines were given a black eye because it's the one place the media could focus on.  Now it didn't help that they already had a bad reputation for their handling of viruses but you have to admit they were an easy target that the media could use as an example.

-People age 65 and above are at a higher risk for complications due to covid19.

As are those with asthma, diabetes, heart disease, weakened immune systems.  Heck, they're still not sure how it's effecting young people and what lasting impact it may have.

-To date nobody knows when RCI sails again. What capacity will be. Will those at higher risk be allowed to sail.

True. Nobody knows the exact date but I can assure you, once they do, people will cruise.  Just like people will go the Las Vegas and people will take their families to Disney and professional sporting events, etc. etc. Why aren't we concerned about those at higher risk being allowed to fly?

-Nobody knows how long this pandemic will last and if RCI can survive without declaring bankruptcy.

Until a vaccine is developed.  Who knows how many companies will be able to survive.  The entire travel and entertainment sector is getting crushed right now.

-The President of the United States asked if using disinfectant internally can help people

w/ covid19.

Not going down this road.  Whether I agree or disagree, political arguments don't belong on a cruising forum.

Thank you.

You're welcome.

Again, most people here will agree that the time frame in getting a refund has been horrible in many instances.  People putting down deposits are doing so with disposable income (hopefully).  Cruising is a hobby to many people and the return on investment is the pleasure of the cruise.  I'm on the hook right now for a cruise in August that was booked over a year ago and one scheduled for October of next year.  Of course I'd be upset if RCI went down and took my money.  But honestly, it's a drop in the bucket compared to what other people who rely on the cruise lines for their employment will be facing.  That is why there is such a strong reaction to your comment about cruise lines going bankrupt.  Wishing bankruptcy on a company just because you have to deal with the delays in getting your money seems a bit self-centered.  It's one of those "if I can't have it, nobody can" kind of statements.  If I wished bankruptcy on a company every time something didn't go my way, Vegas would be nothing but sand and empty hotels by now.  Plus some of your edited replies were seen by folks before you edited them and they really weren't all compliments and thanks. Just sayin'
