Which would you do re: Enchanted Princess?

Now that we know the Enchanted's TA has been cancelled, which would you do if you wanted to cruise in that same time frame?

A.  Cancel your January cruise now and book something different
B.  Wait until Princess cancels it and scramble to find something else

So you are booked on Enchanted for a January cruise, right?  So am I. I’m leaving the booking as is. $1.00 deposits, good perks, OBC, but I am not expecting that it will happen. At final payment I will decide, but I expect Princess will cancel. Maybe offering OBC.

Why do you think it will be cancelled?

 

If they are going to "park" ships, I think they would "park" older ships.  I'm assuming the newer ships would be cheaper to operate with newer technology that the older ones.

 

Just guessing...no one knows for sure.

2 reasons: 
1 - the ship is still being built (or will be finished once they allow people back to work in Italy) and
2- they cancelled the trans-Atlantic cruise

It makes me think they'll maybe:
a.)  keep the ship in Europe once it's completed or
b.)  send it over to FLL many months later when it's finished.

If it were me, I'd do nothing with the January cruise for now, and hope that if it's cancelled, Princess notifies you before final payment.  In the meantime, I'd would look to book something out a little further.  A March cruise might be nice.   Just my opinion.  🙂

 

We were booked on the 56 day Exotic cruise (Southampton to Australia) for this coming October.  With the Covid-19 situation, we felt our cruise would be cancelled so we booked a Hawaii cruise as a back-up for later in the year.   We don't know if this one will be cancelled, but it sure is nice to know we have one on the books.  Something to look forward to.

Yeah, except I'm booked all through Feb. 2022 now.  I just don't think the Enchanted is going to make it to FLL in time.  Maybe it will - I certainly hope so.

Easy cancel now, look for something once cruising actually starts up again and you know what countries will be allowing the ship to port.

I’m leaving it as is for now.  When or if I cancel depends on how long Princess drags their feet on refunding my cruise from this year.  I figure by final payment due date we will know if the ship is going to be in the fleet or not.  Then there is the whole comfort level of traveling with a lot of other people, will there be a vaccine, etc. etc. Chances are good we will cancel, just not yet.

I am booked on the Enchanted for January.  I will not be cruising even if the cruise goes forward.  I haven’t canceled it yet, but I will prior to final payment.

I am booked on a January Enchanted cruise, also.  I've left it as is.....for now.  I also booked another cruise on Enchanted in late March.  I am not confident that either cruise will sail.  I thought Enchanted started sailing in Ft. Lauderdale in late November. Why do people think that Enchanted won't be in Ft. Lauderdale in January? Perhaps the TA was canceled because of questions of international travel.  I have to admit that I have been absent from the boards a bit lately.

Well, if cruising isn’t happening in January, what other options will be available?
 

We have a September and December cruise booked. I don’t think September is happening and I won’t go as far as to make final payment unless things are moving along with cruising. Their repayment process is way too slow and I’m really hopeful that the December cruise happens. I may roll the dice on final payment for the December cruise even if cruising hasn’t resumed by final payment., but I’m not sure cruise lines will survive this. So maybe not. 
 

I’d leave It for now if you want to go. Make a decision before final payment

We were booked for the 25 night cruise on Enchantment leaving on 10/25 from Italy and just booked Sky for 20 nights leaving NY on 11/5.

Actually I pick B with the exception that I don’t think I’m going to cruise again , and after 50 cruises it is sad. We are booked on the Enchanted, end of Jan 2021

I didn't say cruising wouldn't be happening in January.  I said the Enchantment may not be in FLL by then due the delay in building it in Italy.

Jenny - Although we had a great deal on the Enchantment in our favorite cabin (M-108), I think we're going to cancel and book with another ship that has already been built.  I just have a feeling that cancelling the TA on it is a sign that the ship is going to be very delayed in getting to FLL in time.  Wish I knew for sure though!

I was booked on the enchanted TA and think the ship will be ready by then as it was getting ready for sea trials. I figure they know flights won’t be able to get tourists to Spain and/or Italy so not worth making everyone pay final and then cancel and have all that mess. JMO.

Until flights and countries open cruises to and from cannot be planned.

I would prefer Princess just have a 7 day cruise to nowhere from FLL, I know they can’t and have to stop but the hassle of not knowing you can or can’t get into an island port is crazy. Of course we love sea days which is why we love the TA to FLL but most don’t.

I hear ya, if we knew what was happening it would be so

Enchanted was due to depart on her sea trials the week the shipyard closed. So the vessel is at least at that later stage of construction. Her transponder was even turned on for the event (just look it up on Marine Traffic). At that time, there was about three months between her sea trials and her handover to Princess.

 

Fincantieri began reopening April 22 and expect to be back at full staffing by mid-late May from all reports. Enchanted's first cruises are now slated to be out of Fort Lauderdale in November. They have approximately six months to finish a ship that was only three months away from being delivered before. I'd say she will be out on time for her Maiden Caribbean season. Her TA was likely cancelled due to the uncertainty of international air travel. I highly doubt they'd consider leaving her in Europe, it seems the countries there aren't keen on reopening ports yet.

 

Ultimately, given the fact they've already had to cancel her maiden voyage and maiden European season, I am sure Princess has been given assurances by Fincantieri they will be able to deliver or else they would've cancelled more sailings than they did.

I'm sailing Enchanted on February 20. I feel pretty good about it happening.  It's a casino cruise so no money spent yet. I've had 1 cruise and 1 vacation to the beach canceled so far.  Need a cruise.

   I read that you booked the Sky leaving NYC on Nov.5. My DH and I booked that cruise some time ago. We have decided to cancel.

Do you really think that cruise will be sailing then?

    The Broadway theaters in NYC are going to remain closed until Labor Day.

The closure extension was announced a few days ago.

     We have a family wedding slated for the end of September in Manhattan. The couple is now evaluating if they are going to postpone the celebration until some time in 2021. 

   I do not see any cruises leaving from NYC in the coming months.

     Time will tell.

We are booked on Enchanted 1/2/21, also a casino cruise. Best offer we've ever had, figures it might get cancelled. Our offer was free inside cabin, pre-paid gratuities, internet, drink package and 250.00 ea. casino credit. Considering we have only been on Princess twice, and last was 2012, I was surprised!
