Except for South Florida, beaches are open. Not sure what South Florida is up too.

Broward is opening beaches, hotels and gyms on Tuesday after Memorial Day. Miami will follow shortly after that, and Miami hotels will be open for tourists. So things are starting to open up in South Florida.

There's a fine line between positive thinking and totally unrealistic expectations.  Look behind you, like a mile, you'll see you're WAAAY over that line.

we all have our own opinion.  I know realistically we might not go, but not hurting a soul to have Hope!

Opens when it opens, will only be when it is safe enough to not implode the business.

And as for who will be limited to sail:  anyone who wants to pay the fare they set.  If they sail only 1\2 full, fares will go up.  So why would they limit their customer base?

As long as you hope for something that has a very small chance to maybe happen, unfortunately here there is no chance and nothing to hope for.

Per the Royal Caribbean website:

This is a Goal and I highly doubt they will want to be one of the first to restart cruises that day.

Carnival cruises had previously announced they would restart August 1st but that date is not yet confirmed and rumor on their posts is that may be pushed back to September 1st.

Carnival clearly states they plan to restart 8 ships august 1st. Someone misread the announcement and has started a thread saying that's what the announcement said and posted it elsewhere. Same person who says she lives near ny and if the rest of us saw what she has we wouldnt book for a long time.

I dont consider misreading a announcement and posting a thread cruises will be cancelled thru august exactly a good enough source to call it a rumor, more like someone who posts repeatedly not only wouldnt they book but we shouldnt either.

It could get pushed back. Our local news says outbreaks in mexico which makes me worry about ports. Caymans not open until at least sept 1st, so they would have to reroute some. Unless you hear it from someone who knows I wouldn't exactly say there is a rumour.... wishful thinking from some. No one knows yet for sure we can get ports open.

What is wrong with people that they get pleasure out of telling people that their trip won't happen?

It's the official voice of "Gloom and Doom"  😱....I think indeed we have all had enough of that already.  😵

Refreshing, and hurts no one, to hear someone have some hope that things will get better and we can finally go back to the cruising life style we all love.

The ones that swear they will never cruise again, and give no hope to the future of cruising...I say..."umm...what are you doing on these threads dedicated to cruising?  Isn't this whole forum and website called "Cruise Critic"?  😉

you don't know that.  Until it is a FACT, I will continue to have HOPE and be Positive.  There is nothing wrong with that

Exactly! I hurt no one by being positive and holding out hope, but people just cannot wait to try to tear it down.  Just don't get it.

I agree wholeheartedly.  I am also booked on karena1’s August 3 cruise, and acknowledge that although there might be a slim shot at actually cruising, I enjoy feeling hopeful and optimistic about it.  It is helping this not-so-enjoyable time of my life go by just a little more quickly.  I am practical enough to have booked the same cruise in late September, while hoping that I sail in August so I can cancel September.

I would be more than happy for your if your cruise would be happening. But now we are at a point that cruises out of the US will not be happening in August, hence why continue to hope that you will be even more disapointed when it will not happen although you actually know it already.

I’d say he is a realist, but you don’t like his predictions.

How about a friendly wager?  If there are no Royal cruises in August, I owe you one dollar.  If there ARE Royal cruises in August, you owe me a million dollars.  Guaranteed money for you.

Here is my fear.

We are doing some really stupid things here in the US.  Don't need to post the pictures of the idiots in Lake of the Ozarks, or nose to tail lines to get into retail stores, bars wall to wall with patrons, all without masks.

But if cruising does start first week of August (and I honestly think we may be stupid enough to do it) and there are a couple of outbreaks, even if minor, cruising as a vacation choice will largely be done forever.
And I really like to cruise.  Over 1200 days on ships and 300 booked and deposited.

But not a minute before it is prudently the right thing to do.  And August ain't it.

Another like minded spirit...good for you!  Yup, I have two booked for August, two for September, and three for October.  Who knows which, or if any I will get to enjoy...let the cancellations fall where they may.  But at some point, we should be able to cruise again.  Just a matter of time.  🙂

When it looked like suspensions were going to be in 30-day increments, I figured Port Canaveral and private islands would be first, so I booked mid-June.  Then Carnival stated no over-70 letter, so I booked July.  Carnival cancelled, so I booked Royal for July.   Add on a couple of casino comped cruises, two Lifts and Switches.  Repeat, repeat, repeat.  At one time I had eleven booked, down to nine now, at least one a month through January.   I keep making changes in response to cruiseline changes, and I know what my next moves will be at all times.  It takes a detailed spreadsheet to keep track of it, but I enjoy it and I really didn’t have anything better to do.  I can’t wait to see which cruise we will actually get to sail on!
