HxFx Posted May 22, 2020 #53 Share Posted May 22, 2020 I voted "no" but that is assuming the requirement is to wear it at all times when not eating/drinking. I would be okay wearing it only at embarkation/disembarkation. I could see wearing one in elevators but fortunately I am healthy enough that I don't even use the elevators when carrying luggage. Other than luggage, that's pretty much true all the time for me. Gotta burn as many calories as possible!
ATC cruiser Posted May 22, 2020 #54 Share Posted May 22, 2020 Mid level balconies will become prime cabins. Less flights of stairs to climb and access to the outside

Sunshine3601 Posted May 22, 2020 #58 Share Posted May 22, 2020 So your part of texas is not requiring you to wear a mask when you go to stores, just at salons? That's odd.
Rare Oceansaway17 Posted May 22, 2020 #59 Share Posted May 22, 2020 I guess I would but I would not cover my nose so I could smell the air, and I would have an opening for utensil to shove some lovely food in my mouth. Won't even try sunbathing as I would not want a stupid tan line on upper face the thing is masks make it hard to chat and smile with folks. I wonder if even the Captain would want to pose for photos. Next 6-8 months will be interesting.
blueridgemama Posted May 22, 2020 #60 Share Posted May 22, 2020 Masks are only partially effective if worn properly. There are so many people wearing them improperly that I think they are more of a hazard than a help. Every time you touch your mask, readjust it, take it off, put it back on, wear it around your neck, have it only covering your mouth etc. you are contaminating your hands as the outside of the mask is, or can be contaminated. Proper mask wearing states you should wash your hands every time after touching your masks. Masks also should be washed daily. I seriously doubt that the majority of cruisers will follow those protocals. I think that masks give people a false sense of security.
Rare Tree_skier Posted May 22, 2020 #61 Share Posted May 22, 2020 I voted yes. That yes is based on the assumption that they would only be required in certain high volume areas.

Agree it's no big deal. I wear a mask virtually everywhere I go out of my house and would have no problem wearing one on a cruise. That being said,. we've decided to hold off cruising until a vaccine comes out.
Rare BirdTravels Posted May 22, 2020 #64 Share Posted May 22, 2020 I vote yes. Even in our regular business office, we are required to wear a face mask while at work because of COVID. Yes, I understand that there is a difference between being in an office, but it's a new world. If you want to go to work, if you want to go to church, if you want to go on a cruise, you need to wear a mask. That is the times we live in.

Masks like those above are intended to prevent you from spreading your germs to others. They are not to protect you from the virus. So, they should not provide anyone with any sense of security; they are not there to protect them.

I never sit by the pool anyway. We spend a lot of time on our balcony...no masks needed there. 🙂 So you would never eat? Great way to lose weight on a cruise 😁

stowite Posted May 22, 2020 #70 Share Posted May 22, 2020 I have been wearing a mask at work for over 2 months now so this is not that big of a deal to me. As long as I don't need to wear an N95 or KN95 I am fine with it. My bigger problem with getting back to cruising is the next few cruises I would like to do are in Europe and I will be waiting until the historic sites I want to see are reopened and staying open.

Seville2Cabo Posted May 22, 2020 #72 Share Posted May 22, 2020 So if they printed your Crown and Anchor status on the masks, I bet that would increase the number of people that would wear one. 9

I remember back in March when they were telling everyone not to wear a mask or gloves as the typical person will fiddle with their mask and actually put themselves in more danger by touching their face to fiddle with masks.
TNcruising02 Posted May 22, 2020 #75 Share Posted May 22, 2020 I would wear one to get on the ship and to get off of the ship, but I have no desire to go on a cruise if they require wearing one on the ship. If they required them at shows, then I assume they will no longer allow eating or drinking while watching the shows. If people are constantly removing their masks to eat or drink, it will completely defeat the purpose of wearing one. I assume they will no longer allow smoking or drinking in the casinos if masks are required. No drinking or eating on the pool decks. Any place where people are eating or drinking, people would have to constantly touch their masks. Wearing masks would actually be worse than not wearing them. I can't be a part of such ridiculousness and wouldn't find the cruise enjoyable to sit in the hot sun with a mask or swim with a mask. No thanks. I can wait.
