New and Confused- 4 Perks/MLife

Recommended Posts

Hi All! New future Celebrity cruisers booked for February. My husband did the booking this time so I'm just trying to make sure I understand it all. We booked as an annual cruise benefit, but he also added the 4 Perks to our reservation when they were doing a promo to include them for cheap. I went into my cruise planner just now and it was telling me about my 300 in OBC, and was promoting the drink package. Now, my understanding was that the 4 Perks would include that. Is that just a standard thing everyone sees and I shouldn't be worried?

Also, we had this from his MLife status from this past year's casino spend/play (not a status match) and I believe he is entitled to some extra benefits there- including OBC. If we have it from the perks, does anybody know if you'll still get it- as in get both sets of OBC? Last question (for now) will the casino status match to an equivalent level where he can get those perks? I have read some old threads and I got myself extra confused trying to figure out the Captain's Club vs the Blue Chip Club.

The Casino board is so quiet, so I thought I'd ask here- sorry if not the right place.

The drink package is one of the four perks, so you already have that.  Indeed the offer still appears in your cruise planner, so don't worry there.

You likely are due some additional benefits, through Celebrity's Blue Chip Club (gaming benefits).  The specific benefits will only be available by calling them, and unfortunately they currently are having really long (hour plus) hold times.   Their number is (866) 461-7170.  You can also email bluechipclub@celebrity.com.

I know many love the perks, but they do cost more.

We have 11 Celebrity cruises going back to 2011 when perks were not a factor in booking.

I audit our total costs for alcoholic drinks for each cruise and with the elite benefits, we rarely spent more than $300-$350 on alcohol for a 14 day cruise.

For a while, it was difficult to book Celebrity without perks, but fortunately, it is usually easy to do so.   I have never seen promos with perks offered that would make it favorable to book with perks.   I know each person has their own reason, but I wonder how many do the math to determine if perks are with booking?

Never book the 4 perks as I have more internet than I could use and I don't drink enough to justify the cost.  That being said, I do select the pre paid gratuities and the $150 OBC.  I have 17 past Celebrity cruises since 2008 and 2 cruises booked for 2021.  Looking forward to sailing Celebrity again.  Have been sailing Royal for the past 3 or 4 years.  No comparison.  I missed the great service and always smiling employees on Celebrity.  Let's hope the virus goes away soon, and very soon as both of my 2020 cruises were cancelled.

If the OP got the 4 perks from M-Life, they were likely included in the complimentary cruise.

There is often a long delay before the agents in Miami add the drinks package to your planner, but don't worry as it will get added eventually.

In normal times when it was easy to contact the call centre, if you rang about something else, perhaps booking an excursion, you could often get the agent to add the drinks package to the planner as part of that call - but getting through at the moment is a bit more tricky.

We still don’t have ours added months later. I just got Celebrity and the agent we booked with to confirm we have it by email and took a screen shot. It’s available on my iPad when we cruise should we need it.

I'm not sure if we paid for the 4 Perks or not, but they have a line on the booking confirmation at a price, and we did pay above what just the taxes would have been, but it wasn't anything like sticker price. That's why I think we may still get more OBC from MLife as well. As much time ($$$) as my husband spent in the casino to earn it, I just want to get what we're entitled to. 😊

I have a printout of where it breaks down booking charges and it says "4Perks"- which I am assuming is enough if there were to be an issue down the road? I always carry a copy of it with me ever since we had an issue 7 years ago on a Carnival cruise.

Also agree it makes sense to do the math with perks. For us, we drinks a bit so no brainer. We also need the internet for our business. Those two alone are a big savings for us, depending on the actual cruise fair. And so far it has made sense.
Last year we had a lot of OBC so my wife was able to get the iPad she had wanted for a while. Another example on our cruise this past January, we were on a 10 day and I can easily guarantee you that our drink bill would have been WELL over $1,500.

So, it depends what works for you.

I would call them when you can as they'll be able to clear up your confusion.  Here are your MLife benefits based on MLife status.  Guessing he's NOIR which complicates things as that $300 NOIR OBC would be the same as perks $150/person OBC hence why you should call.  I've haven't had the best luck with emails for existing bookings, yet they're far more responsive if you inquire about a new booking.

The M-LIFE $200 Platinum  $300 Noir OBC I believe is per person (if you both have status) and is over and above the $300 OBC per cabin which is part of 4PERKS.

Since it looks like you are Platinum or Noir I think you should call Celebrity Blue Chip Club at 1-888-858-4478 and get discuss with them to understand all your benefits.

Now if they were to reciprocate your M-Life status to Blue Chip Sapphire benefits then that includes a beverage package and access to the Retreat lounge which has complimentary drinks all day, then you might not need the 4PERKS if you are having to pay for it.   Again call.

Just confirming they still don't do this?  I asked last year and was told they didn't but wondering if things have changed.

I have no real info if they do this or ever have.   I just thought it was best for OP to call Blue Chip and discuss their amenities with them.
