As per the Tahiti Tourism Office announcement of June 5th, 2020, FP is once again open for business to international travelers effective July 15th:

French Polynesia has had no active cases of COVID-19 since May 29th. The country’s authorities announced today the borders will be re-opening to international tourism in French Polynesia starting on July 15th, 2020.

Timeline is as follows:

  • July 15th, 2020: Quarantine measures will be completely lifted and French Polynesia’s borders will re-open to international tourism from all countries.

There are several conditions, however, including a COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to departure and another 4 days after arrival, plus medical certificates and more. See the link, above, for details.

Test four days prior to departure may be problematic.

Sounds like test four days after arrival may be done at random rather than for every traveller.

Most pertinent part for potential cruisers is still absent:

    Conditions to be communicated

We have a trip booked this fall with my parents and kids and we are just debating whether to cancel.(staying in hotels and not cruising this time)

Where I am I can get a test within 72 hrs and have the results, but they are given over the phone. I am not sure how I would get it in writing...
